Nominate a Featured Article link gone?

When on the main page, I couldn't help but notice that the "Nominate a Featured Article" link was gone. Is this supposed to be like that, or is this an error? (Pardon me if I missed a whole conversation about this, I haven't been on the wiki for awhile) EDIT: By this, I mean the link in the featured article content area, not the one in the navigation bar. --TheHK (T) (C) 15:45, 28 July 2012 (EDT)

It's the second link after the article summary, in the bottom right. We changed it's position over a year ago because of an issue with smaller screens. Sorry for the inconvenience! User:Abdullah/sig 08:20, 29 July 2012 (EDT)
Correction: The reason you didn't see it was because of the way our templates are structured. The links are now hardcoded to the Main Page, so the issue shouldn't happen again. User:Abdullah/sig 08:53, 29 July 2012 (EDT)

Mysterious Seed of Wisdom artwork

So my brother printed out some pictures for his kids to color and I'm fairly certain it's unreleased official artwork of Nayru from MSW and OOA; especially because in a few of them she's holding a palette. Plus, you can clearly see the character art development.

Anyway, I don't want to just post things if they're not cannon. Plus my brother doesn't remember where he got them from and I'm not sure what the rule is on attribution. What do you think? Is there someone I should show them to? Or somewhere I should post them? Psidd 18:22, 2 August 2012 (EDT)

Nayru with a painting palette? These are images from Hyrule Historia, so this would be concept art and design sketches. These can be posted in the gallery for Nayru, it's not particularly unusual for these to appear on pages for various characters. There are some interesting ones floating around. It's worth noting that originally one of the three games had a theme of color, I'm not sure if the pages this artwork appears on mentions that, but presumably she was originally the Oracle of Color or something like that. User:Fizzle/sig 18:53, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
The problem is, he's had these for a while. They're older than Hyrule Historia. That being said, I haven't actually SEEN Hyrule Historia, so I can't verify if these would be the same (and therefore official or just fanart). Psidd 17:09, 13 August 2012 (EDT)

Main page loading too slowly?

Is this just me or is it affecting everyone? The main page is like a snail recently. Takes forever to load, if it does at all. I think we might need to cut down on the size of the newsfeed, I expect that is what is killing it. User:Fizzle/sig 19:13, 3 August 2012 (EDT)

I've been getting the same problem. I find that typing zeldawiki.org/main_page in the address bar makes it load a little bit faster than just zeldawiki.org, but that just may be a coincidence. --TheHK (T) (C) 21:50, 4 August 2012 (EDT)
Works for me. --User:Cuddles/sig 13:16, 7 August 2012 (EDT)

Undeletion request

Please undelete File:Exploding Triforce.png. Since I returned here to Zelda Wiki because of a two-week-long block on Uncyclopedia, and returned my user page to its former state, this image should be undeleted. --User:Cuddles/sig 13:15, 7 August 2012 (EDT)

No, we already had a similar image (with much better quality), so we don't need two of the same. --Dany36 18:46, 7 August 2012 (EDT)

Questions on games

Just a quick question: where should I ask questions on individual games? I'm having trouble with something in Majora's Mask and I'm not sure where I should ask for help.

Samzapp 00:03, 8 August 2012 (EDT)

The place it'd make the most sense to ask such questions, would be the respective pages' talk pages. Talk:The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, in your case. But remember that the talk pages are NOT forums where you can ask about what to do next, and the articles themselves aren't supposed to directly be game guides, although I guess you'll find all the information you need in articles surrounding your situation. User:NorskTW/sig 09:48, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
If you are having trouble getting through an area, I suggest asking on a forum (click the arrow next to "The Masterminds" on the sidebar and have your pick) or a walkthrough guide. --TheHK (T) (C) 10:27, 8 August 2012 (EDT)
What HelmarokKing said. The wiki is not really a place to ask for game help, since the game articles, like MM's, are mostly to discuss things having to do with the article itself (how to improve it etc.). I'd suggest going to one of the Mastermind forums (found on the left sidebar like HK said) and asking there, or looking at the Mastermind sites guides. :) --Dany36 15:00, 8 August 2012 (EDT)

The problem is that Medigoron just repeats the description of Powder Kegs even after I've blown up the rocks blocking the Goron Racetrack and I need a way to fix it.

Samzapp 15:04, 8 August 2012 (EDT)

As mentioned, this isn't the place to ask for help, and you've probably solved it by now, but did you beat Goht to remove the snow? If the problem is that you need another Powder Keg, try buying one from the bomb shop in town, I remember that being possible somehow. User:Fizzle/sig 10:20, 12 August 2012 (EDT)

No thumbnail image?

An upload I made recently doesn't seem to be generating a thumbnail. File:Spaceworld97IronKnuckle.gif looks fine if you open the page, but it doesn't seem to be showing up in the gallery on the Iron Knuckle page itself. Is this the same for everyone? Is it because it is a gif, perhaps? I know sometimes it can take awhile but it's been six days since I first uploaded it. User:Fizzle/sig 16:59, 13 August 2012 (EDT)

Thumbnails and resizing don't work very well with GIFs, so yes, that's probably why. You'll have to upload it as a PNG. At this point, the only thing GIFs should be used for is animated sprites. As you know, PNGs are where it's at :P — Hylian King [*] 17:22, 13 August 2012 (EDT)
Indeed, the original image was a gif in this case, but I can do that. Feel free to zap that one. User:Fizzle/sig 17:39, 13 August 2012 (EDT)

Vector skin images do not appear in Google Chrome

I recently switched from using Firefox to Google Chrome, and today I went to Zelda Wiki to check on my profile. However, the logo image, as well as some of the Vector skin UI elements, are missing. Is this a problem on my end or is it affecting anyone else? Wwtoonlinkfan 23:38, 30 August 2012 (EDT)

Now the missing elements are back. Did it have anything to do with the outage earlier today? Wwtoonlinkfan 01:04, 1 September 2012 (EDT)
Some of those issues has appeared on Safari too :P User:NorskTW/sig 04:46, 2 September 2012 (EDT)
Everything seems fine from my end. Would it be possible for either of you to upload a screenshot of the issue (if it's still present)? — Hylian King [*] 06:57, 2 September 2012 (EDT)

Confirmation Email Not Showing Up

I just created an account, and I'm having trouble with my email. I wasn't getting any confirmation email, so I switched to another email address. That account got the email so I was able to confirm my email. I'd really like to have my main email address on the site, though. I tried switching back to my main email, but no confirmation email showed up, and I was no longer allowed to edit. Switched again to the other one, and I get the email. Can anyone help me to get the right email address working? I can't edit without the confirmation email, so I have to use an email address I don't want to use for now.--Theduckofindeed 19:31, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Might sound like a silly question, but have you checked your Spam folder? --Dany36 20:49, 29 October 2012 (UTC)
That's a good question. I don't seem to have a spam folder, and I looked into these settings so a spam folder could be created or the email address wouldn't be blocked or that spam wouldn't be deleted automatically, but none of that worked. Still no email. It's very odd. I emailed the company I get my email from, and maybe they can solve it. It would be nice to have my main email address if I can.--Theduckofindeed 21:42, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
Hello again. I've been trying for a while now to get the issue with the confirmation email fixed, but I haven't been able to. I emailed the company about the issue, and I have tried all their suggestions about spam and filters and blocked messages. It doesn't seem to be being blocked as spam, but it won't show up. Is there any other way to have that email address confirmed? In the email address that works, I see the email address the confirmation email comes from and wondered if I could try sending a message to it, but thought I should ask about it first.--Theduckofindeed 17:31, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm afraid that wouldn't help you much. The email is automated and the address happens to belong to Jason, who most likely won't be available to help you with this issue.
For what it's worth, you won't need the email for anything other than confirming your account and recovering forgotten passwords... — Hylian King [*] 23:20, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
All right. I'll just leave the issue alone then. Thank you for yor help.--Theduckofindeed 16:52, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Alright then. Sorry about that :( — Hylian King [*] 17:56, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

NIWA Check in request

Hello, I'm dkpat from Golden Sun Universe/NIWA. I recently made a thread on the NIWA forums that requests that an admin from each wiki "check-in" and give an update on their wiki activity. I would appreciate it if someone from Zelda Wiki could check in. Thank you. Link Dkpat 21:01, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Noted. We'll do so as soon as we're able. — Hylian King [*] 00:10, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Page Loading Error

Most days (I would say 4/7)the wiki crashes. I mean, when I try to get to it, my browser gives me a 403 loading error... so I used another browser and it just didn't load and told me it was a false URL. Is this an error with the wiki, my browser, my computer or what? Is there any way I can fix this? Sorry, but this really bugs me because I have to use a less accurate Zelda wiki site with faulty information... User:Darkness/sig 23:44, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

I personally haven't been having any problems accessing the wiki for the past few weeks... I'm assuming you're referring to the downtime a few weeks ago when we were moving servers, because I don't remember there being any problems since then.
Unfortunately, server errors do happen. We do regret the inconvenience it causes to our users (trust me, it's just as annoying to us as it is to you), but it's really not in our hands; we are personally not in control of the server side of things. We have to trust that our server maintenance people will able to solve the issues as they arise.
Anyway, the wiki certainly is not down 4 days a week. If that's really the case for you, the problem is most likely on your end. — Hylian King [*] 22:51, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm very sorry... maybe the 4 days a week was an exaggeration... maybe more like 2 days a week. But, this still happens now, so it's probably my problem. Sorry to bug you. =( User:Darkness/sig 21:19, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Don't be, and you're not bugging me. You're asking legitimate questions and it's our job as staff to answer them :) — Hylian King [*] 23:25, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Ok, and thanks anyway. =D User:Darkness/sig 13:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

External Links

Every time I try to save a page that I've edited, the external link box comes up. (The box that says "What is the value of a green Rupee?" or another easy Zelda question) I asked this on my User Talk page and a user told me it was just a bug that appeared infrequently, and is there anything I can do to fix this? User:Darkness/sig 23:51, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

We are aware that some users may be experiencing problems with the captcha (ie. it appearing when it shouldn't). We'll try to look into the matter and have it fixed as soon as we can. Sorry for any inconvenience in the meantime.
Could you tell us what pages it pops up on? It might help us solve the problem. — Hylian King [*] 12:10, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I forgot most of them, especially because it happens nearly every time. But I do remember it popping up on the Four Swords manga page, my user talk page, the Milk Bar, the main page, and my user page. I'm sure it appears on more pages than that, though. Sorry. User:Darkness/sig 20:47, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Tingle Tuner Text Dump

I've noticed an awful lot of articles about the Wind Waker are missing some vital Tinglicious info. Now a lot of gamers, myself included, have not had the chance to play the Wind Waker with a GBA attached, so I guess that's one of the reasons why there is so little information about this part of the game.

Still, when Tingle makes the amazing revelation at one point that Farore is the Goddess of Winds who has blessed Outset Island, and Zeldapedia knows this while we don't, something is obviously wrong.

Here's a text dump of the Tingle Tuner. It has some pretty usefull info, including the quote about Farore: http://shedevr.org.ru/zelda64rus/text-dumps/Tingle-Tuner_text-dump_ENG.txt

What say you, ladies and gentlemen? Do we fight to make Zelda Wiki the perfect source of Zelda related information with this large document of Wind Waker Wisdom? Or are we okay with being 1-up'd by the likes of Zeldapedia? Dekler 23:36, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Feel free to add in the Tingle Tuner information to relevant articles using the Tingle Tuner template. :) I guess it's mostly enemy articles that have them (for example, the Octorok page). I do agree that we should have as much info as possible, of course! --Dany36 00:51, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Sounds

Category:Sounds and Category:Copyrighted audio and video both have game subcategories, for the same games, but Category:Sounds' categories actually have sounds in them. I think the subcategories of Category:Copyrighted audio and video should be deleted, and the ones from Category:Sounds used. Also, both categories really serve the same purpose, and I don't know if both are really needed. --SnorlaxMonster 17:58, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

We've only started trying to organize all our files fairly recently via Template:FileInfo; the subcategories of Category:Copyrighted audio were left over from before its most recent addition, the "type" field, and I guess we forgot about them. I'll delete them shortly.
At the moment, both categories contain the exact same files since all the sound files we have at the moment are copyrighted. The odds of that changing any time in the near future are slim to none—none period until we fix whatever's preventing us from uploading new .oggs in the first place (we haven't been able to upload one since a server move in March). So yes, the "Copyrighted audio and video" category could probably be done away with. — Hylian King [*] 18:35, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Userpage Glitch

Whenever I add a

{{Show|~Header|width: 18.5em; text-align:center;}}{{Show|~Content|width: 18.5em;}}

template to my userpage, the wiki panel on the left moves into the middle of the page and the text rearranges itself around the page. I had to slowly take the tag out of most places on my userpage and it took a while. Can you tell me what causes this glitch and what can I do to avoid it? User:Darkness/sig 23:54, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi there! The problem happened because you forgot to properly close the template using the {{Show|~End}} section. Because that section was missing, it created malformed HTML code (including unclosed tags) which is what breaks the page formatting. Check the instructions for full details. Hope that helps! User:Adam/sig 13:49, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry. I didn't know how how to fix it originally. Thanks! User:Darkness/sig 14:21, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Non-canonical events

Hi, my name is Mark, and I have a question... because I am in the Mil Bar.

Is the Zeldawiki.org allowed to have articles for non-canonical events, like the Zeldathon (i.e. not affiliated with Nintendo) Template:Nosig

Absolutely! Our goal is to be the wiki of the Zelda community. In fact, we have an entire area of the wiki dedicated to community content such as you described (basically any page you see on the wiki that has "Community:" before the title).
For future reference, please put four tildes at the end of your posts (~~~~). This automatically leaves a signature which lets people know who made the post and when. — Hylian King [*] 21:49, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

MIME Type

I tried to upload a file and it failed, but told me that "File Extension does not match MIME type" or something like that. I changed it from a .jpg to a .png. Is that the problem? And I thought the file limit was 6MB. Has it changed? User:Darkness/sig 22:27, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

You mean, you tried to upload a .png over top a .jpg? If that's the case, then yes, that is the problem. You can't upload a new version of a file with a different extension extension; you have to upload it as a new file, replace it in all the articles the old one appears in, and mark the old one for deletion by typing {{Imdel|sup|insertfilenamehere.png}} on the old file.
The file limit reverted to 2MB after the server move. We seem to be having problems accessing the server but when we can, we'll change back the settings. — Hylian King [*] 22:41, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Signature Problem

Hello. My signature is only appearing as my normal username in red, however on another computer, it's appearing as what it's supposed to. Why is this, especially if I'm using the same browser and same type of computer? User:Darkness/sig 15:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Also, on most edits, I'm experiencing weird problems with the wiki, such as every word appearing on one line, not being able to edit a certain part of the page, files being inserted without me inserting them, etc. Is this happening to anyone else? User:Darkness/sig 15:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

The wiki seems to be haunted again. I'm having the example file added randomly to my edits, and at one point my signature showed up for no reason in the middle of the article I had just edited. Somethin' fishy's going on here...User:Justin/sig 18:00, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Is that problem happening to anyone else? Or is it just us? Or is it just that my computer likes to mess up my view of the wiki? User:Darkness/sig 18:51, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Tabbed Nav Template does not format correctly

I am almost finished with the Wind Waker Quest Items template, but there is a small problem. I want to integrate the Items nav template with the Quest Status template, like how other game item templates are. However, even with directly copying and pasting the code from an existing page, the tabs do not show up at all. Instead, the code is displayed as plain text. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? (Currently, the template I am working on is in the Sandbox. --> Template:Test

Here's the problem. You were missing a couple of closing curly brackets. Probably got rid of them accidentally when you deleted the code for the third tab of the template you copied. — Hylian King [*] 01:56, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
