== Thunder Helm as a key item ==

Tony, to avoid war-editing I'd like to discuss this issue of the thunder helm not being a key item. Key items are those that appear under the key items section of the game. The master sword is a key item, the champions tunic is a key item, in the sense that a key item is some main item in the game, but the thunder helm is wildly out of place in the Key Items section when (unless you have a very unique copy) the helm does not appear under Key Items.

Those new HW Recolor Renders

Just a heads up, those are official models, but fan made poses. Truth be told I've made contact with the person who made those renders and we are set to re-do all the re-color costume images with custom poses made specifically for both this wiki and the Koei wiki. So while those are good for now, better renders are on the way.
Ixbran (talk) 22:20, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up! - TonyT S C 22:31, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
The theme were going to try and go for is that re-color costumes based off something specific will be posed similarly to the artwork of the being they are possibly referencing. IE This recolor costume render will be posed like this artwork its thought to be based off of. When it comes to costumes that don't have a specific/possible references then we are going to have the model posed similarly to an artwork relating to them already, such as this recolor costume being posed to how the same character appears in this artwork. First were trying to get our hands on all the game models, and my friend is going to put the appropriate bones to each one so they can be posed specifically for this project. Luckily my friend is a sweet heart and shes willing to do this work for free. We just don't have a set date/time when they will all be ready, just know they will be some point hopefully soon.
Ixbran (talk) 22:55, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
I'll be honest: I don't like the idea of basing poses off of inferred connections. We've butted heads over this before, but the fact is that it's clear nobody can agree 100% on these (even you have changed your opinion on some), so the only rational move available is to omit subjective views from the Wiki and leave it to the viewer to make their own inference and form their own opinions. Costumes that have explicit patterns are more acceptable, because these are generally irrefutable. So I would heavily advise against this, even for Koei Wikia as well. For Zelda Wiki, objectivity is the ideal. We purposefully leave subjectivity for the fans, both to remain neutral and to be as accurate as possible.[Note]
To offer an alternative, I think it would be more helpful to pose them in the same manner as their neutral artwork, like this one for that particular Costume you linked.
For your consideration, the developers even did this, as you can see here, here and here (with Lana[ 1, 2, 3 ] and several others too). I know it might create a sort of dullness in presentation, but the precedence shows that the devs chose these poses to best showcase the characters, and I don't think it would hurt to follow suit. At least in that regard, it would create relative uniformity, and it might save some work of having to rig them all in a multitude of different positions. - TonyT S C 08:06, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

SS Items template is ready, maybe?

Hi, I've finally gotten some bursts of time in to settle modifying the nav templates I'm using for the SS Items template, however there's still a few things:

First, The image quality/size I decided on and there being 6 levels means that there's about 6*800KB of images to load, which I am concerned about whether it shouldn't be used until that is reduced. (I note that if we're cropping upper level images, the translucency of the background means that we can't overlap these sections...)

Also, I just remembered, but there are some modifications to {{Nav Template}} for my {{Nav Template1}} that I'd like for someone to check in case there are issues that may later pop up unannounced.

Thanks!

--KokoroSenshi (Talk | contribs) 15:04, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Thank you so, so much for making that. It's been ~5 years since SS came out, so I think it's really welcome, regardless of initial size. I've actually been discussing it with the fellow staff members about it, and the consensus among us is that these templates would probably be better being removed from the page real estate across the board in favor of "styled links to the listings pages", while they are repurposed for the Inventory page. That decision is certainly not finalized, but I hope you understand and sympathize with that. Let me know how you feel, though. Having put so much work into it, I think you definitely deserve a good say in it.
And I will definitely review the other two templates. I'll let you know if I find anything off! - TonyT S C 17:42, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I don't mind any decision you all decide on really, and I think the idea makes sense, since it does take a lot of space and has a lot of things in it. One thing I think would be cool is if there's a link to show (load) a navigation template only if they want to (in a "fill the screen, click out or escape to close" way). Would that need an iframe? I don't know, but the idea seems cool, even if lacking in any point or justifiable reason in implementing it.
I was thinking of adding the dowsing and adventure pouch items to the template but it seems to be getting a bit to complex at that point in time. I haven't figured out a way to sort out the dowsing items (and how/when they are activated so I can screenshot them), though I figured out a reasonable arrangement for the adventure pouch that doesn't even have any duplicates (except for the physical duplicates of medallions).
Regarding moving them to Inventory, that sounds like a good opportunity to put some details or explanations of each inventory system for each game.

Hyrule Warriors Weapon placement

A Couple of Questions;

  • I know the ones that are in Red text, you want them to be in Info deplay pages of their own. But what about the ones that already lead to a page? Reason im asking is because when I was putting the Stats info for weapons (e.g. Trident, Fire Rod, etc) u changed them back. For I believe they must require their stat info (e.g: Sheik's Goddess Harp and King Daphnes Sail). Am I allowed to put back the Weapon strength stats for the ones that already lead to a link, or are you planning to put a personal new page for each of them?
  • Fi's Goddess Sword link leads to Fi's character profile while you have Fi and the Goddess Sword as two different pages, which is confusing. Please clarify to me that the info u want to give Fi's Weapon is about the Weapon or the Character? Template:Nosig
I did no such to either Trident or the Fire Rod page. There's no issue here.
Fi's Weapons should be on the Goddess Blade page. - TonyT S C 18:49, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Then why is the link's leading the viewers to Fi's character profile?
I want using my edits on the Trident, Fire Rod as examples but I saw my similiar edits on Sheik's harp was changed back. Template:Nosig
By the time you asked that, it wasn't. It's now as it should be.
Your edit to Goddess's Harp was in an inappropriate location. The appropriate location is Harp. All the Weapons belong on a page under their class name, as seen here. As you can see, "Goddess's Harp" is only a subset of the Harp, thus it was undone.
Again, sign your talk page messages with four tildes. There is a box below the edit field containing shortcuts for code, which includes the four tildes that you can simply click if you need. - TonyT S C 19:07, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for clearing that up.
Very well then so a Weapon page has to be made for Sheik's Harp then? And what about others that lead to existing pages such as Wizzro's ring, Twili Midna's Mirror, Young Link's Fierce Deity Mask Weapons, Linkle's Crossbow, Toon Link's Hero Sword, and King Daphnes Sail? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 19:21, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
The general rule is they go on the page titled after the Weapon class. If it overlaps with previous pages, it goes under a HW section. - TonyT S C 19:23, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for Clearing that up then. I'll continue make a Weapon page for the ones that dont exist yet then. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 19:27, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Of note, Twili Midna's Weapon, the Mirror, is a bit of a tricky one, so I would say to just leave that to me. - TonyT S C 19:32, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Understood Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 19:36, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Sorry

Ugh, I try to avoid using Eldin Caves for the Dark great Fairy and wanted to use something with a little more Lighting in the background. But whatever, glad I made u guys post something that was needed Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:01, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

It was a quick fix, as an image of greater quality (and proper name) was needed. I can see about replacing it, but for now, a full model rip would serve better than any screenshot could. Also I really do not appreciate the implication of have "made [us] guys post something". - TonyT S C 02:03, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Image Request

We need a VS Big Blin (Ruffian) and VS Stone Blin icons cuz on Skills for Hyrule Warriors Legends, the "VS Soldier" skill, the game says they are good against them as well. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:28, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

We do, but we among the staff don't presently rip files from games directly. We more often use The Spriters Resource, as you can see in the FileInfo template's source attribution on each file. I'll see what we can do, but it's easier said than done. - TonyT S C 03:42, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Very well. I gave you what is needed on Skills as well, so Good luck. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 04:27, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I uploaded a pic of Tael and Tatl playing at Skull Kid's Victory animation for Hyrule Warriors for the Tatl and Tael's galleries for the name keep f***ing up on me. can u reupload it for me plz? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 20:48, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
You can move the image yourself by going into the "More" tab on top of the page and then clicking "Move". By the way, if you took the image yourself, you can use the Original Source template as the source of the image. - Chuck * (Talk) 22:19, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

The Videos

Those were Official gameplay videos that were shown before Skyward Sword was released Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:35, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

The Lizalfos video has a GameXplain watermark overlayed on top (and was a stolen repost) and the Moblin one has a TheBitBlock pre-roll before it, which would indicate that they likely had review copies. There's ten reasons to one as for why it's not official.
And even if they were, they're not good videos (unprofessional by Nintendo standards) and really kind of useless. Having been released prior to the public launch is not an indicator of officiality. - TonyT S C 02:51, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

The Adventure mode Maps

Question, shouldn't those Map table be posted on the Adventure mode page? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 16:33, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

No, for multiple reasons.
  1. They're still very much in progress and far from finished.
  2. They're not intended to be used in their current form. This is more a guide for editors, because...
  3. A template using an image of the map will be used instead. This is in progress right now, but it will be completed at my soonest convenience.
It's going to take some time, but the end product I make will be worth it. - TonyT S C 16:39, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
Question two, shouldnt the Adventure mode map new pic be the Master Quest map as well since they are the same? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 23:09, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
The Master Quest Map has red zigzag patterns as opposed to the Adventure Map's black and white, so they are not entirely identical. For the sake of accuracy, we will use two different, but similar images. - TonyT S C 23:19, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
Wanna let you know that I found a Youtuber that has played and recorded every Adventure mode map square gameplay and u can see clearing on each one of characters using other character's weapons. Looks up AuraChannelerChris. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 00:28, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Can't upload image

When Im trying to upload an image from Miiverse for one of the galleries it says the following: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wfishiphop() in /var/www/zeldawiki.org/extensions/ExtensionsByAbdullah/CustomUploadFields/SpecialUploadModified.php on line 813 Can you fix it? Thanks! Princess Peach (talk) 01:00, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

We're aware of the problem and we're trying to fix it ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope to get it up soon. - TonyT S C 01:13, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

A PROBLEM!!!

Tony! Someone has been re-editing away all the Info on pages as well as Putting in bad pages! Someone by the name "Zelda Wiki on Wheels" Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 18:54, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, but staff regularly monitor the recent changes, especially edits by new users, so it's not necessary to report vandalism. - TonyT S C 04:11, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Third-Party Media

Regarding your reason for moving this image from the Toon Link page, friendly reminder: the entirety of Hyrule Warriors is developed by a 3rd Party. The games are made by KoeiTecmo, Nintendo does not have any hand in development outside of Aonuma monitoring development. If the rule for this sort of thing is keeping 3rd party content to strictly to this page then that means everything regarding HW/L should be removed from all the pages they're on and moved there.

I'm not trying to complain or start a fight, I'm just saying by your reasoning for removing that image from the Toon Link gallery, that is what would need to be done. Maybe a change in rules regarding 3rd Party content should be made into consideration.
Ixbran (talk) 04:13, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

You're using the wrong parameters to justify your argument, as the general rule is if it's developed with Zelda in mind as a core feature, it deserves mainspace coverage. Hyrule Warriors is, Monster Hunter is not.
I'm not opposed to attempting to re-establish how we handle coverage on Nintendo-published content that contains Zelda material, but we will definitely need more people to consider the ramifications, and such discussion would need to take place on our forum board. - TonyT S C 08:40, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

HWL Materials

Are you going to add slots on the material table for the Hyrule Warriors Legends materials? I listed them all in the discussion page for Materials. --Bobb11881 (talk) 18:48, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

It's in my schedule to complete, but I have more pressing matters to finish first. Please have patience. - TonyT S C 21:34, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
Won't Stone Blins fall under the same category as Big Blins? Cuz it seems they are just a Bigger and more armored version of Big Blins and Ruffins Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 14:34, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure what "category" you're referring to, but I imagine it as another Moblin/Shield Moblin relationship. - TonyT S C 20:14, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Hyrule Warriors other Weapon users

Ive finished analyzing each square as best as I could on all the DLC maps to see which character was using which weapon for u all. If u wish to double check it all, feel free to let me know. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 01:02, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

Thank you. I'm thinking we might make them into tables rather than bullet lists to avoid redundancy, but nice work nonetheless. - TonyT S C 01:48, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
I may wanna help u make them into tables but questions, Are u still keeping it under Trivia? Or are u putting them under a new Title? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 22:39, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Trivia should suffice. Here's what I'm thinking of for a base:
<div style="display:none">
{{#vardefine:Dark|style="background-color:#163d5f"}}
</div>
{| class="collapsible collapsed" style="text-align:center; width:100%; max-width:31em"
|-
! Other users of the WEAPON
|-
|
{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center; width:99%; max-width:30em"
|-
!width="30%"| Warrior
!width="40%"| Map
!width="30%"| Tile
|-
|
|
|
|-
|{{#var:Dark}}|
|{{#var:Dark}}|
|{{#var:Dark}}|
|}
|}
And here's it in action:
I would order the Warriors by their in-game order. - TonyT S C 08:47, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

Opinions on a project

So I've started working on something I've been thinking of doing for a while now, a User WIP of a page listing for the various different character portraits in the HW series. Having an opinion on it, as well as getting it up to wiki standard so it can be a mainstay page, could be appreciated. If you have any suggestions please put it here.
Ixbran (talk) 04:35, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

We pronounce Vaati the same!

I pronouce it "Vah-Tee" as well! :D What a coincidence! It's probably correct, but as for Kakariko Village, I pronounce that "Kah-ka-reh-ko". It's probably "Ka-car-riko", but it's like, I always pronounce it like I did before, even once I find out it's the incorrect pronounciation. Are you like that? TrueZelda3 (talk) 19:16, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Considering that Kakariko is the same in English as in Japanese, I would think that the closest reasonable pronunciation would be how it's pronounced in Japanese, which would be roughly /ka̠ka̠ɺĩko̞/. Normally after finding out the proper pronunciation, I switch to it. Kind of begrudgingly in the case of Fi. - TonyT S C 21:13, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Inter wiki links missing?

Hello, I was wondering if you could add inter wiki links to Zeldapendium on the main page and recentchanges. --Raltseye (talk) 23:27, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

I'll look into it. - TonyT S C 23:51, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Are you working on subdividing the items page aswell?

I was told on the Items page on BotW that you were, but I can't find anything in your sandbox as stated. Should I continue doing what I'm doing? Template:Nosig

Hey, sorry I didn't respond sooner. Traveling to and from Los Angeles is a pain, so I've been doing things minimally.
I'm going to be splitting the pages as they should be, so what I would recommend is to keep collecting information and if it clashes with what I have, just make note of it in the talk page. Are you OK to do that? - TonyT S C 08:43, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

BotW Corrections

Hi Tony. Could you please add the correct prefix and suffix to this and this, please? Two I slipped up on early on when I was getting used to correct format for naming. Many thanks. Don't know if there's a better way to contact you about slip ups like these. Dekusian

Done! - TonyT S C 22:00, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I just noticed there's one more but that's the last of them, I swear! Thanks again. Dekusian
Got it. Also, you should sign your signature with four tildes (~~~~). - TonyT S C 22:38, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Monolithic vs Overview + Detailed Sub-articles

This is just a quick question on which is the preferred method since the page I'm wondering about still fits within the size limitation, but will one day by it's very design exceed that limit. In such a case should a page contain all the data for every game even though the data within the different tables has little to no bearing on any other table, or should the main page have an overview of the subject and the use of the subject within each game listed?

One example to give this question context would be the Material page. Should this page contain every material used with in every game, or should it give an overview of how materials were used in each game and provide links to pages with further details and data tables for each game? Or should pages like this be more like the Food page which provides a brief overview and then have pages like Food in Breath of the Wild to supplement the information and supply data tables that are unique to the game? Emerald (talk) 05:25, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

What is this size limitation that you're referring to? What I've told my team is that unless it's becoming measurably problematic to have the listings all on the same page, they belong on the Material page all the same. Basically we should err on being monolithic more than making people chase a listing down.
"Food in Breath of the Wild" shouldn't be an article on its own. It should simply be on the Food article, and it's a bad frame of reference because it was constructed by people who simply don't know what is appropriate. Were we to split the Material listings, it would be "Material (Subtitle)" over "Materials in Subtitle". - TonyT S C 05:54, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
There is actually a size limit listed in the Zelda_Wiki:Quality_Standards#Article Formatting. Those pages were picked out as examples for content not naming. Emerald (talk) 06:00, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
The standards are presently being rewritten, so I can't guarantee that that stipulation will remain the same. I understand that people have reported 32kb as being where mobile loading tends to get iffy. The Material page loads well enough on my lackluster phone, so I think we may need to revise that in particular. We'll look into it.
Regardless of framing the discussion about size over name, you still created a page with an unfavorable title and it's still a relevant matter to the suggestion of splitting. - TonyT S C 06:23, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
The 32kb is actually historical on that page and the one listed to use is actually 96kb. And the questions were to determine which format was correct. I will freely admit to an unfavorable title now knowing your preference, but "Invalid subject: Unnecessary split." doesn't seem to indicate title, so I was just trying to figure out the whole monolithic vs not thing after having seen both. Thank you for clearing the matter up. Emerald (talk) 06:42, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Marin's bell

The pic is transparent, why put it in Alteration again? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 00:38, 25 June 2016 (UTC

It needs cleanup. Read the file history. - TonyT S C 00:50, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Also what the hell was all that phone number files and crap? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 00:58, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Spam. It's normally taken care of covertly. - TonyT S C 01:00, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Thats the second time I see Trolling on this site. Does that happen often? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 01:07, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
It's more infrequent, but it's our goal to keep it from others as much as we can. - TonyT S C 01:12, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
There's still a Dark version of Medli and Marin Portraits on Spriter Resources. And if we are putting Weapon icon image for the bell, shouldnt we do the same for the others? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 16:09, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I saw your talk page message to Ixbran.
Yes. - TonyT S C 16:24, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Hey Tony, do you think by tapping the Wolf Link amiibo in Breath of the Wild count as having multiple Links in the game? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 20:20, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
There is this article in which Aonuma describes Wolf Link in BotW as being effectively an animal. If Link isn't consciously present (read: an animal is basically inhabiting his body), I don't think I'd consider that to be the case. The body is present, but Link is not. - TonyT S C 20:33, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Ok if it doesnt OFFICIALLY count then, then would putting it in Trivia still be required? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 20:40, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Personally I would remove it, but at the very least the phrasing needs to be reworked. - TonyT S C 20:42, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the article, found more pre-shot content that needed to be uploaded to the site~ Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 01:54, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Custom Zelda TimeLine Table

I did a Sandbox to more show the Zelda Timeline more updated with the info of the new Zelda games. I hoping maybe it would good for the Site to get the chance to see. Tho I would like an option from an Admin like you and Chuck. Any thoughts? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 23:46, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

I shared it among the staff, and the honest consensus is: it's not going to receive our favor.
  1. The formatting is rather poor. That's not your fault, of course, because MediaWiki doesn't allow for a great deal of flexibility, but it's a messy emulation of the Hyrule Historia timeline.
  2. It's basically unreadable on mobile, which is always something to consider when creating a table. Now that we have mobile functionality, all tables should be made with mobile-friendliness in mind going forward.
  3. We already have a plan to address the amended timeline, albeit not immediately. We've been looking at extensions that we can use to better display the timeline in a more comprehensive way.
I would personally advise that you spend your time working on other things instead. - TonyT S C 14:04, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Can I still keep it anyway as a mistake learner? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 15:39, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Your sandbox is yours to create and expand as you wish. - TonyT S C 16:13, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Can't make account?

My brother is trying to join the wiki, but there's no sign-up link next to the Log In link like there usually is. When we cheated by going straight to Special:CreateAccount, it says only admins and executives can make accounts. Which seems a little like a problem. So uh... why? Peanutjon (talk) 01:54, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Account creation was disabled due to the recent spambots, so once that's resolved it should be back to normal. - Chuck * (Talk) 02:54, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Snowboarding = Shield Surfing

Shouldnt Breath of the Wild Shield surfing and Twilight Princess snowboarding fall under some similar page together? cuz to me, it kinda seems Nintendo is trying to bring back that concept from Twilight princess back into Breath of the Wild. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 19:24, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

As far as I know, there's no official term for "snowboarding" in Twilight Princess. But the answer is, of course, "yes". - TonyT S C 19:28, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
FYI fussy, I wasnt stealing. I was only helping! Members of a Site, group, community, etc need to work as a Team. And I was only being a Team player for you. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 21:11, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
Your intentions do not matter, you need to respect the uploader's ability to do their own work. Unless someone specifically asks to work in tandem with you, you need to find something else to work on other than what they are doing.
It creates more work for me to have to patrol multiple edits that you make when I intend to complete the work in just one. If you want to be diligent, give it at least half a day of not being somewhere you think it should be. At that point, you're more than welcome to contribute on the uploader's behalf. If you are in need of things to do, there's this category, which should be helpful. - TonyT S C 22:13, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

The Statue

How? they are part of the map and come from the map? Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:57, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

They are objects found in the map, but the subject of another article. They belong on the latter. - TonyT S C 13:29, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
Yea but being part or even related to the map, they should be shown as part of the page. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 13:53, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
That argument could just as easily be applied for characters or miscellaneous objects and items. It will be removed if you attempt to add it again. - TonyT S C 14:00, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
That is why Im talking it out with you silly. Why would I attempt to add it again when you or one of the admins want to see it from a different point of view. and BTW, is the Model Resource site broken for you as well? Cuz everytime i try to go on it, the site isnt loading properly. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 14:06, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
The Models Resource isn't loading for me, no. I expect it to be back before it becomes a problem. - TonyT S C 14:17, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Animated HW Adventure Mode icons

Like I did with the Spinner rotating, Would it be more effective and more advanced if I did the same for the character icons? Just animating their idling motions of stepping left and right. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:25, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

GIFs are a terrible format and should be entirely avoided. - TonyT S C 02:37, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Hyrule Warriors Sandboxes

I noticed you have a lot of Sandoboxes for Hyrule Warriors, both for translations and for what seems to be a highly ambitious mapping project. I'm not sure how much of a priority these are but if you want I could provide European Translations for the content. Also, the level sets data would require separate stats for Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends as the warriors gain heart containers faster. I'm also not sure if the experience needed is changed but the ruppee cost for levels is reduced in Legends. Additionally, I was wondering what your plan is regarding adventure map differences between the Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors Legends maps and if you would like help documenting the differences. For example, no Lv 2 or 3 Weapons are found on the original Adventure map in Legends. Link Lab (talk) 20:21, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

HW - Ganon's Rage and Cucco's Spirit

I know Ganon and the Giant Cucco's attacks arent fully weapons and dont have weapon icons but they are still part of their attacks and Movesets. Can it still be possible to make a Weapon's page for Ganon's Rage and the Cucco's Spirit that explains mostly their Special attack, Focus Spirit and Weak Point smashes and im sure a Attack Combo box can be added once the right information is gathered. And of course possible Galleries. Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 01:16, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

Nintendo UK Assets Library

Hi. Do you have access to Nintendo UK Assets Library? Could you share the login or some files from it? Its for another wiki (pidgiwiki). Thanks. --Hiccup (talk) 20:28, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

We basically have every Zelda-related image from the Assets Library already uploaded in here, so you can get them from any gallery page. - Chuck * (Talk) 02:25, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
Its a nice collection, but I'm also interested in non-zelda files and the original PSDs (etc) too. --Hiccup (talk) 11:40, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
Sorry but we can't share that information. - Chuck * (Talk) 03:31, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Sourcing Pronunciations

Hello. How exactly would I go about referencing the source for the pronunciations? My source being two things: the Japanese spelling (if the name is an anglicization of the Japanese name) and the English spelling. I'm well learned in both Japanese and linguistics (specifically for English), so I'd like to be able to use my knowledge to help those who'd like to know the intended pronunciations.Moritasan2040 (talk) 11:15, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Pronunciations must be official (from Nintendo or the company responsible for creating the covered product), so a citation from such a representative or person of authority should accompany any pronunciation claim. There are plenty of enemies whose names should be (at least to us) quite simple to pronounce, but these would be unofficial and potentially misleading without any official backing or representation. In pursuit of the most accurate content, we have to avoid making these logical presumptions.
Consider the official pronunciation for Template:Bp from the Pokémon series. Its Japanese name is アルセウス, so the logical conclusion would be that the "C" sounds like a soft C. Instead, the "C" is officially a hard C (for reasons), and so the presumption would be inappropriate even with the knowledge of how it should be pronounced in Japanese.
SnorlaxMonster is working on documenting official pronunciations here, if you would like to see about collaborating with him. If you need any information on actually citing these pronunciations, we have a guide for that and an example of it in use here. - TonyT S C 13:05, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

I see. Thank you; I'll have to take a look at that. Tho, even if there is no official sourcable pronunciation, I feel like it should be possible to explain likely English pronunciations. That kind of information is quite often found in encyclopedias and other sources of information when the correct pronunciation, meaning, etc is unknown. Also, going back to the subject of "official sources", I can't help but think of Giygas (named ギーグ / Gīgu in Japanese) from EarthBound, which should be "gee-guhs" based on the Japanese name, but was officially pronounced "gahy-guhs" in a commercial. However, the man who came up with the English version's name recently answered that it's actually "gee-guhs" after all. So I'm not entirely sold on the validity of some of these sources. Plus the guy in the Ghirahim source sounds like he says "gir-uh-geem", and the other guy repeats it as "gee-ruh-heem", neither of which does the Zelda Wiki article actual use; the wiki uses "gi-rah-heem" instead.Moritasan2040 (talk) 10:25, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello again. I did try to talk to SnorlaxMonster, but he ignored me. Also, I'm concerned over the pronunciations he's giving. His accent is having heavy influence on the pronunciations on this site. I'm guessing maybe he's British, or something. The British tend to "mispronounce" their short A's (caught, call) as if they were short O's (fought, for), so 'ball' is pronounced like 'bowl'. Of course, Americans tend to do the opposite. While we get ours A's correct, we "mispronounce" short O's as A's. So a word like 'cot' ends up pronounced like 'caught'. And then the British also tend to "mispronounce" AU/AW (the same "short A sounds I mentioned earlier, tho I guess we're not taught to call it that) as if it were a short O. So 'cot' and 'caught' rhyme in both accents, but are pronounced differently. In any case, my point is that we should try to provide an accentless pronunciation. It's not fair (and very confusing) to cater to an accent. Especially confusing when the accent is not the same one used by most (all?) of the sources we're supposedly basing it off of.Schwarzorn (talk) 00:36, 15 March 2017 (UTC)

Round Eared humans having less magic

When is that ever stated, or implied in the series. Proportionately they're appear to be the same amount of humans who can, and can't use magic as Hylians. Infact,, aside from finding a Zelda as in Wind Waker, or finding Link like people in Tri Force heroes, any difference between round eared people, and Hylians is never brought up. All round ears really seems to indicate is an origin outside of Hyrule. Delsait (talk) 21:24, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Pig Warrior is the localized term for Pig Moblins in Link's Awakening

"PIG WARRIORS These fierce porkers are related to Moblins. Be prepared for them with Shield and Sword. A spinning attack will knock them out." That is from the Nintendo Power guide to Link's Awakening. That Karuna from the manga adaptation of Link's Awakening refers to himself as one, shows he is indeed a moblin. Theories

There are still some Zeldawiki pages with theories, do you want to get rid of them? Delsait (talk) 20:32, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Theories should be removed from pages after all factual (non-speculatory, useful) information has been extracted and relocated from them. - TonyT S C 20:40, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
The Poe Collector page has some. Maybe we can just mention the guard. Delsait (talk) 20:48, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Soldier enemies in FSA

Them being guards corrupted in some manner comes from Malon, and a few other characters in the game. Delsait (talk) 08:57, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

I put the fact template there not because I didn't believe it, but because it needs to be sourced. - TonyT S C 09:45, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Idea for making a page

Hey boss,

I was thinking and maybe a counterpart to Technology in The Legend of Zelda Universe would be helpful. The page would list the medieval elements of the series wich are equally as important as the technological elements. I've got a lot of free time and I'd be more than happy to get it started. I've grown a lot as an editor in general since I last used this wiki (I've made small edits here and there, but I haven't done big edits in 2 years maybe?), so to be more reputable for the job you can check out my recent edits here, sort of as a resume. I'd be happy to get started on that page if you give me a green light, I think it would be helpful.

Thanks!Editorguy117 (talk) 10:04, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Sounds like it could really be informative, so go for it. - TonyT S C 10:08, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Manga translations

Do we cover Translated names for manga only characters, and terms? Delsait (talk) 01:03, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

We would do that through the other pages, no need to make a new page; just make a sub section on the relevant pages that exist. However, I must warn you that the translation pages are being retroactively handled exclusively by staff, so all information will be purged and added by personal verification to ensure minimal error and misinformation. This includes the work you're intending to put in. - TonyT S C 02:33, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

On Blind

You removed this part from page 39 of the 1992 Nintendo power. "Blind, and his thieves worked at night, leading a massive crime wave across Hyrule. "Blind the Thief leads his ruthless robbers on a crime spree, hitting houses clear across the country. His hideout is here in the village, but there are rumors that he has fled to parts unknown, leaving much of his treasure behind." This was word for word from page 39 of the official SNES guide for Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past by Nintendo power. Delsait (talk) 18:53, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

Oshus Sword vs Oshus sword

Regarding this edit, the "Oshus's sword" comes from the actual in-game text shown in the gallery, I thought this spelling was important to note. MannedTooth (talk) 18:05, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Text that appears in coloring (usually red) is treated as a titular name on ZW, though for stylistic consistency, terms such as this are always treated as proper nouns. We don't use official terms without capitalizing them, which is why I removed the redundant name.
Further, please understand that names from guides (such as your addition of "mallet" here) are not recognized unless they fit the coloring or capitalization standard. We don't take simple words as terms unless these fit either condition. - TonyT S C 03:45, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Zelda.com sorry

Oh well, my apologies for the Zelda.com edit, I clicked on it as text, so I got on the article of the website on the wiki rather than the Zelda site itself, I thought it was like a forum thing like "we use that, so it's kinda official", my apologies once again! :) MannedTooth (talk) 06:48, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Molten Rocks to Magma Rocks?

So if Molten Rocks is the official name, does that mean u want a separate page for it? Which I honestly dont see the huge point of that since they are both falling fire rocks from a volcano. the only difference is that the ones from Twilight Princess explodes. -- Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 02:19, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

New Navigation System

Hey there! :) I've been working on this idea for a couple of hours now. So before finishing it, I wanted to know what you think about it. You can test it out here!

I think the utility is pretty obvious so I won't explain it, I'll let you experience it. :) If you got any template/programming stuff you'd need to do for the wiki, hit me up, I'm a computer science student with some free time on my hand.

PS: PHIM stands for Phantom Hourglass Interactive Map. MannedTooth (talk) 06:54, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

We do have a template for the PH Sea Chart which serves the same purpose. - Chuck * (Talk) 17:28, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Well, it's not exactly the same thing, the current map is only a world map allowing you to click on island and to go on their island, mine is more sophisticated, it allows you to zoom in or out of places, explore and discover the map, try it out, click on the northwestern sea (the only sea chart done for now, in the water) then go to the isle of gust, you can click on the temple to explore it and its floors. This idea would be nice, and I'd be ready to do that for other games too. MannedTooth (talk) 18:23, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Hmm, I see that clicking things brings me to a new page. It would be preferable if it was all on the same page. - TonyT S C 20:05, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
By that, do you mean that the page should never reload itself or it can reload the page with a different map? MannedTooth (talk) 20:09, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Ideally it shouldn't have to be reloaded. - TonyT S C 20:55, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Alright! Gonna see what I can do! Would that be something we'd want if it works? MannedTooth (talk) 02:23, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
I think so. - TonyT S C 02:28, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
What comes to mind is utilizing the Tabs.js or Toggle.js (MediaWiki:Common.js), however the nature of the imagemap extension makes it (seemingly) impossible to apply the required classes (not even on the image map tag itself >_<).
An alternative method could be (rectangular-only?) elements positioned over the relevant areas instead of imagemaps (which seems messy, but we could probably tidy it up with template-fu), or if irregular shapes, I vaguely remember looking up inline svg shapes.

Typo in admin name

I just noticed that you made a typo in this edit, it's AzelleAx, not AzelleAz ! :P MannedTooth (talk) 02:22, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Anything to do?

So, as you can tell, lately, I've been wandering around the wiki and doing just about anything I could do, but I was wondering, is there actually anything useful I could do? Like, something that needs to be done? MannedTooth (talk) 04:22, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Certainly. We have a number of pages that need creation, as you can see here. One such page we need is for Ember, the owner of the Riverside Stable in Breath of the Wild. Would you like to start work on that? - TonyT S C 03:48, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
For Ember, I've tried to make something, but apparently, he has the EXACT same dialog as Embry, so I suggest that those pages be merged under a title such as "Stable Owners" ? Anyway, making a page for Ember seems pretty pointless since it'd be just a literal copy n paste of Embry's page. Let me know what you think! :P MannedTooth (talk) 04:33, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Additions to a Translations page

I'm a very new user, signed up to make some additions to Tri Force Heroes Translations/Characters, mostly of Canadian French names. I see the page was locked by you almost exactly a year ago. Is there any way I can submit these additions to a staff member for approval? HelpTheWretched (talk) 22:06, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

You can suggest alterations via the talk page, but for the sake of keeping these articles as factual as possible, editing has been locked from the public and in general only names verified by staff are accepted. - TonyT S C 03:48, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! I've just done that. HelpTheWretched (talk) 03:57, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Sorry to get back to you so late. There's a few things:
Anonymous editing is now off.
You should be able to merge your old account and new one together. Just read the FAQ here for that. You can also regain your old account name as well, you just have to follow the procedure detailed there and in the email you send, mention that you're from Zelda Wiki. They've been pretty quick with the process. Hope that helps. TriforceTony (talk) 09:47, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Food Page Cleanup

I put a bunch of ideas on how to organize and cleanup the Food page on my user page, since that page was locked. I agree it needs some serious cleanup done. Check it out if you'd like. Also, the "Create your own sandbox" button doesn't seem to work, maybe an issue from recent move. I wanted to put this in a sandbox but couldn't figure out how. Thanks. - Protokhal (talk) 20:09, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Helping out

Hey there! I am new to this (maybe you saw my pm on ZU) so I'll cut to the point. I was simply wondering if there was anything specific that I could to to help out? I'm still trying to figure out the wikitext also, so I doubt ill be able to do much in the way of coding but I'm ready and willing to do whatever is needed! Thanks!! Domozilla777 (talk) 16:18, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Absolutely, we'd love to have your help. Let me see... We actually need to move over some articles from the Breath of the Wild Gamepedia, so maybe you could help by moving over Material articles? If that sounds good to you, you can start out by making a sandbox here with information from here and I can look over it and give you advice on what to do.
I'm terribly sorry for not responding to your PM, but talk page messages here are indeed a better means of contacting me. Thanks for your interest in helping out! TriforceTony (talk) 11:57, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

The Third Party and the Review Period

Hi Tony, I'm a bit curious as to the who this third party is. General editors don't know who the third party is and the third party seems to be taking a looong time to review the pages. So that gives me a rather unfavorable first impression of this third party. I'm curious if I can learn a bit more about them and what's going on? Thanks! Editorguy117 (talk) 21:04, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

Thunder Helm as a key item

Tony, to avoid war-editing I'd like to discuss this issue of the thunder helm not being a key item. Key items are those that appear under the key items section of the game. The master sword is a key item, the champions tunic is a key item, in the sense that a key item is some main item in the game, but the thunder helm is wildly out of place in the Key Items section when (unless you have a very unique copy) the helm does not appear under Key Items. Template:Nosig
