Wiki errors

Hello, I have a rquestion for you... I've just made a short list of some of the basic 6 digit color codes. The HTML page has no mention of them, or just a small bit, so I wanted to ask, should I add my list, or something like that, to the HTML page and describe the purpose of the codes, how (some) words work as well (such as green), etc. and add it to the page. I have no idea where I should put it on the page or even add it all. Thanks!

  • Do you have a list of the words that can be used? —Darkness(Talk) 21:34, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Y'know, I coulda sworn I added in color codes...I guess I was going to do it and then went inactive. But yes, that would be good. And I believe Wikipedia has a page listing every color code and every word you can use. You should try to find that. It would be worth either adding them all or simply linking to the Wikpedia page. If there's one thing I hate, it's having to hunt for the appropriate hex codes for colors. As for where to put it, I would add a new secion before miscellaneous HTML.Justin(Talk) 21:45, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
I did something wrong! Tell me, do you have any idea what this means:

<!-- /* Font Definitions */@font-face {font-family:Times; panose-1:2 0 5 0 0 0 0 0 0 0; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:3 0 0 0 1 0;}@font-face {font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-font-charset:78; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536870145 1791491579 18 0 131231 0;}@font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536870145 1107305727 0 0 415 0;}@font-face {font-family:Cambria; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536870145 1073743103 0 0 415 0;} /* Style Definitions */p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}.MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}@page WordSection1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;}div.WordSection1 {page:WordS</gallery> What I mean is that block of text just appeared. When I was editing the page. —Darkness(Talk) 22:02, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Oh dear...I'm afraid I have no clue. What page were you editing when this showed up?Justin(Talk) 22:05, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
The Gallery:Shop page. The one I had made. I was just adding in an image of the Advance Shop in Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. —Darkness(Talk) 22:08, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Well...it looks to me like the wiki sort of hiccupped and added in something that is normally on the page but not present in the edit box. That's my guess. But as far as you being responsible, I don't see how you could have caused that in any way. As a natter of fact, there are some among us who say this wiki is HAUNTED! You've just experienced of the many reasons why we say such a thing. In all seriousness, don't sweat it. The wiki went weird for a moment. Nothing you did.Justin(Talk) 22:13, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
It keeps on happening with every edit I make! It's pretty annoying...—Darkness(Talk) 02:08, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh boy...So that stuff shows up in the edit box, right?Justin(Talk) 03:05, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. For example, if I add an image to the Gallery:Shop page, I hit "Show Preview", scroll to the top of the preview page, check where I added the image and it's not there. I go back down to the edit box, look, and the text is blanked and all it says is

(long wall of garbled coding was here, but was deleted because it hurt my eyes)

I always hit the back button, remove the text, and save as normal. —Darkness(Talk) 22:07, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Okay, let's start from the basics. What browser are you using and what addons do you have installed for it?Justin(Talk) 22:12, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
I use Firefox and I'm pretty sure none.

(The code seems to have something to do with font families, "mso-generic-font-family:auto") —Darkness(Talk) 22:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, but I don't know how it's affecting the wiki editing...Can you try editing with a different browser, like Chrome? Just to see if you get the same error?Justin(Talk) 22:23, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
It's GONE! Not really, now the text I type in isn't appearing. In the Show Preview box, I mean. —Darkness(Talk) 22:43, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Hmm...so you go to show preview and it deletes all your text? Lass, there's something funny going on with your computer. I guess I'll talk to the MediaWiki developers and see if I can't get some answers from them.Justin(Talk) 22:48, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Ok.If it really matters... I mean, I can just switch back to using Firefox (which I am) and delete the block of text. —Darkness(Talk) 22:58, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Alright, I've submitted a bug report which you can find here. We'll see what they say. Sorry to say I really have no idea what's causing it. It may be a wiki issue, and if so, they'll fix it.Justin(Talk) 23:02, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

I guess they don't care."However Zeldawiki runs version 1.17.0 and we simply don't investigate issues in such old versions anymore. Please feel free to reopen this problem if it still happens in a supported version" —Darkness(Talk) 19:27, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Random Question

Why were you randomly inserting text/files into the Sacred Songs page? —Darkness(Talk) 03:28, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

It wasn't on purpose. When I made the edit, I didn't put them there. They randomly showed up when I saved, and it made me very angry.Justin(Talk) 15:09, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh. I just checked out the recent edits on that page, and it looked like you randomly inserted your signature and File:Example.jpg. —Darkness(Talk) 15:16, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
NOOOOOOOOOOOO! The same things are happening to me. Except now I can't enter text on some pages, the text is not there in the preview box, and every letter is on a line of its own. Is this happening to anyone else? —Darkness(Talk) 15:28, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Re. Catacombs

Thanks! I was having a nasty case of writer's block when I was creating that section, but it looks a lot better now. Kurtis C. 13:53, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Ya welcome!Justin(Talk) 13:54, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Whoops

Thanks again! Damn, never even noticed that slip-up; was up in the wee small hours creating the article and was probably too tired to notice. Kurtis (talk) 23:10, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Edit summary

Excellent editing there, but I must ask what you meant by "Okay, that's enough for now." Were you explicitly addressing me over something I had done, or just talking about the general editing of that page as being virtually complete for the time being? Kurtis (talk) 22:50, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

I was extremely tired of staring at the same edit box haha. Plus, I couldn't find a Minish Cap text dump so I just kinda said "forget it" and decided to finish it later. Thanks for the kind words, BTW!Justin(Talk) 22:52, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Not a problem. =) Kurtis (talk) 09:30, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Username numbers

I was checking out the Recent Changes and I noticed that there were 9 users with the username 10 editing the page "[[:]]". What page is that, and how are there 9 (probably computerized) users editing a page that doesn't exist, or at least isn't normally accessible? —Darkness(Talk) 19:19, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

The "online users" function hasn't been perfected, so it may display some odd things from time to time. Nothing to worry about, just ignore it. — Hylian King [*] 19:33, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Haha yeah, that happens a lot. Also, I replied to your message in Hyrule Castle (or Milk Bar or whatever page you put that on. Don't remember). It's not harmful, so just let it be.Justin(Talk) 20:04, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I can't remember all of those times when I saw a user that was editing [[:]].
Just a small comment, the videos on your user page make the whole page lag and crash. Or is that only on my computer? Never mind. —Darkness(Talk) 22:40, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Talk:Beneath the Graveyard

Hey, just so you know, I've responded to your concerns here. Hopefully this will be to everyone's satisfaction.

Take care. =) Kurtis (talk) 13:28, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

My edit

Ok, the "Good Mama" was a joke....if there is a place where i can make a certain joke please tell me. And the "Bosses In battle Quest was because i don't know how to make a new page and i was going to make the bosses page for it. I'm a 10 year old....i need help with that. I promise i won't do any more vandel for the rest of the time i'm here.Jigglypuff123 21:19, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Jigglypuff123

I gotcha. Okay, so...we're an encyclopedia, and we try to be as professional as possible. If you want to make a joke, you're more than welcome to use your userpage for whatever sort of jokes you like. As far as making a new page, you can type the page into the address bar like this: http://zeldawiki.org/(Page_name_here). Make sure you separate words with underscores (_). Anyways, there's no worries about the edit. I don't think you were trying to destroy anything so...no harm, no foul. One last thing: we like to keep conversations on one page, so if someone messages you on your talk page, please reply there. I promise they'll be able to see your response, either through their watchlist or through the recent changes. Glad to have you editing with us!Justin(Talk) 01:46, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

About the Skype chat...

Hello! When I asked about the ZW Skype chat on my user page, you said that it's probably OK for users 15 and older. However, I have some questions...

  • I'm allowed to join the Skype chat. However, if I did, I wouldn't be able to be on for that long or that often. Like maybe once a week. Or twice. Or whatever.
  • Also, I would prefer it if when I'm on, please don't be that... "offensive to some users" as said on the ZW Skype page. However, if I am able to access the previous history, then it's fine if you guys do that while I'm away.
  • I'll think about joining. In case you want to add me while I'm waiting, I'm "Shadow_Twili" on Skype. —Darkness(Talk) 18:06, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
It's really not so bad in the chat; the people there generally behave, but you may wish to take some discretion at times. At which point, all you need to do is ignore them, or you could just ask them yourself to be a bit more appropriate.
If it does get to be a major problem, I can watch over the chat for you. I have special rights on that chat, so I can intervene if things get too crazy. But, if you just generally find it too inappropriate, then perhaps it's best that you wait until you're a bit older and can handle it in stride. - TonyT S C 21:11, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! However, I think I'd probably just leave for a while if things get too bad. I'm okay with that kind of stuff, the only problem is if my parents clear my Skype history, found something inappropriate, and probably ban me from using both my Skype account and my Wiki account. Is there anything I have to do, or can one of you add me to the chat? —Darkness(Talk) 21:44, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
You could follow the directions laid out here, but I think I managed to add you to the chat. - TonyT S C 22:17, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm on and I have both you and Justin in my contacts. —Darkness(Talk) 01:40, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Sorry if I confused you. I entirely forgot that I'd added you as a contact awhile back, so when I saw your name pop up instead of your skype name I got confused and was like "Wait, who's this and how did they get on my contact list?" I use a website called imo instead of the regular skype app, and it doesn't show the skype name of my buddies, just their display name.Justin(Talk) 02:04, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I was surprised while I was checking out my Skype page and saw you, and I thought that you had sent a contact request minutes ago. So you can't see my Skype name, only my real name? —Darkness(Talk) 02:08, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Yup. I know what your Skype name IS but I can't see it from imo.Justin(Talk) 02:30, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Sorry

OK, the thing I wrote on my talk page was just a joke response to the welcome template with no offense intended. I've already told Hylian King that I won't do things like this in the future. I am a fan of and know a lot about Zelda, which is why I joined this wiki in the first place :D Anyways, I know I'm off to kind of a bad start here so again, I'm sorry for any trouble that might have caused.

--TripleTriforce 21:36, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

All good, man, no harm no foul, as they say. I also didn't realize you talked to HK already. SO we seem to be all in order. One thing: try to keep conversations on one page. If you replied on your own talk page, I would have seen it through my watchlist or through the Recent Changes. It's easier to keep conversations on one page because it makes for an easier time of reading through them in case it's ever needed. So again, welcome to Zelda Wiki, and have fun!Justin(Talk) 21:45, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Request

Would you be a dear and add a separate gallery page (Like Gallery:Link) for the Hyrule Historia Gallery? I have no idea how to do it myself.

I plan on adding more images every day :-) Sikora 06:54, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

If you don't plan on doing it anytime soon, I can tackle it tomorrow, but you've caught me at a really bad time. It's almost 2 AM here and I'm ready to go to bed because I don't have the mental capacity for stuff like that right now. But if you can wait until tomorrow, I can take care of it.Justin(Talk) 06:58, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Yep, that's fine with me :-) Sikora 12:52, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Quiblin

You removed the enemy quiblin (that I placed) from the zelda: battle quest page. Quiblins are the enemies that jump at you in the forest temple stage. I know this is the name due to the statue in the park stating that name. As a result I am undoing your removal of it. I am posting to make sure you don't remove it.Davsto 13:24, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Actually, Quiblin is the European name for the enemy. In the American version, they are called "Quick Moblins" instead. While I definitely think the EU version has cooler names, our policy states that we always use the American names for things. I didn't know that at the time of the initial revert, but have since learned the correct name.Justin(Talk) 15:49, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. I wasn't aware of that. On a slightly different note, are those bag-like birds classed as enemies?Davsto 17:39, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
I don't even know what those are. I don't have the game (or even a Wii U), so I really only know what I read. That's how I knew about the Quiblin/Quick Moblin thing. Sorry, maybe try asking someone else? I think Fizzle might know.Justin(Talk) 23:02, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Huzzah

Congrats on your becoming an admin. ^_^ b --Shadow Reaper 09:53, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Yeah fo sho. This one comes as no surprise to most of us but hey, congrats all the same. You definitely deserve it. — Hylian King [*] 13:07, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Heh. Thanks, Shadow. And to you, Caleb. Now then...you'll probably be hearing less of me now that I can do all the maintenance myself :PJustin(Talk) 14:54, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

RE: Staff Notice

I am extremely sorry for my inappropriate behavior. I don't do things like that anymore, and never will. --TripleTriforce 23:43, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Crossing stuff out?

Sorry to bother you, Justin, but how do you cross out text? --TripleTriforce 12:39, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

You mean like this? Just wrap the text with <s></s>. So if you wanted to make this, you'd do <s>this</s>. Don't ever be afraid to ask me how to do something if you don't know! There's no such thing as a stupid question if you don't know what you're doing!Justin(Talk) 23:07, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

OK, thanks. I was looking for it in the Help Guide but couldn't find :P. Anyways, now to destroy the wiki as the first step of my plan to world domination HAHAHAHAHAHA start making some constructive edits! And also, congrats on becoming an admin (throws confetti).

P.S. Is there a reason why you blocked yourself a while back...........?

--TripleTriforce 12:44, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! And yes, I had a reason: I was bored :PJustin(Talk) 13:12, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

LOL. And also, is it cold at all down in Florida? (there's like ten inches of snow up where I live, NO LIE.....) --TripleTriforce 14:32, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Well, it's been on and off. We had a nasty cold snap since last week, but as of today it's pretty much warmed back up. Of course, this is Florida, and that can change in a heartbeat. Pretty much the only weather guarantee is that it's not going to snow.Justin(Talk) 19:45, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Skype

Do you have to install Skype to use the public chat or can you just do it from your browser? Oh and also (I already apologized before), I am extremely sorry for my behavior using the other accounts I made. I don't know what was in me then and I didn't know any better. I have stopped vandalizing and trolling wikis for good now. I'm sorry to bother you, but could you please hide everything in the logs having to do with those accounts? I, (nor anyone else as a matter of fact) want to see that again. --TripleTriforce 22:31, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Um...you can use Skype from imo in your browser, although your best bet is to just install it if you have your own computer.
By the way, I can't really hide them. I can hide their edits but not their existence. I mean, the edits made by them are gone, so no one's going to see anything by them. But anyways, it's not a big deal. You've proven that you aren't out to destroy anymore, and I'm all for letting bygones be bygones. We all make stupid decisions (and god knows I've made my fair share, trust me) and no one's holding it against you.Justin(Talk) 22:45, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

I would have downloaded it, but my computer is so full of crap programs (it's really old) that there's just no room for it. I did create an account though (called "triple.triforce") but I can't get on the the ZW channel (the code on the help page didn't work). --TripleTriforce 19:13, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I've added you as a contact. If you accept the request, I can put you in the public chat.Justin(Talk) 00:27, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

RE: Theories

Hello. This is just a response to the message you left me. First off, sorry if I violated any policies- I know that not just any theory is welcome. That said, I was under the impression that it was okay to just add the theories, and if there was a problem, they would then be removed- sort of a "see what sticks" kind of policy. I don't mind if a theory is taken down, as again, I understand that not all are acceptable, as long as a reason is given for the removal. Also, I'm not sure where you're seeing a "tendency" to revert edits- I've only done so twice, and one of them was on one of my own edits. As I said before, I'm not the type to start an edit war, as doing so rarely accomplishes anything. In any case, sorry for the trouble. Thanks! Setras 22:23, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
