Hi

Hi, I read while ago your comment about of not uploading photos that were already in the wiki or to give them a proper name, just wanted to say that, thanks for the advice :) I'll take it in count and thanks for the encouragement! Finding good zeldas images are difficult! By the way, I've found this: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs32/f/2008/191/c/6/TLoZ_wallpaper____SPOILER_by_isamisa.jpg Should we add it on the wiki? --Isamisa 19:31, 5 August 2012 (EDT)

Indeed they are!
Is that fan art? If not, then by all means, go for it. If it's unofficial, then it shouldn't be added to mainspace pages, pretty as it is. However, you're welcome to upload it anyway and use it on your userpage... — Hylian King [*] 09:41, 6 August 2012 (EDT)

I don't know if it's a fanart or not, but anyway, thanks for the answer :) --Isamisa 09:45, 6 August 2012 (EDT)

Any time :) — Hylian King [*] 09:52, 6 August 2012 (EDT)

Out of Order Alphabet

Hey HK I brought this up to Dany36 but she hasn't responded so I thought I'd bring this to your attention as well on the Enemies of Skyward Sword list the entire R section is out of place appearing between D and F. Is there a way you could fix this? I'm guessing it's a coding error of some sort. --Shadow Reaper 09:06, 9 August 2012 (EDT)

To be fair, you only messaged Dany yesterday. People can be busy with other things and you didn't really give her much of a chance to respond. :P
But yeah, we're aware of the problem and we're looking into it. :) — Hylian King [*] 09:15, 9 August 2012 (EDT)

A question/request of sorts...

Since you're more tapped into the community than I am (and active in the Skype chat and whatnot) I was wondering if you could do me a favor, or perhaps you can help me yourself. Do you know anyone who owns the Link's Awakening DX Prima Guide? Specifically the DX one. As far as I know, it's the only guide for the DX game, unless you are aware of any others. I would like to confirm some English names for added stuff to the DX version. If you can locate someone who has it that would be perfect, I don't need scans, just someone who can relay information (although if they can scan a page or two that would be ideal as well). Thanks very much! No worries if you can't help either. I'm not sure if there is a place on the wiki to ask for help in this kind of thing... it would be nice if there was a sort of resource sharing hub. User:Fizzle/sig 09:58, 17 August 2012 (EDT)

I'll do what I can. I've tried looking for it online in the past but had no luck with that.
Yeah, that would be nice... but illegal. As if that ever stopped anyone :P — Hylian King [*] 11:36, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
Well, not a literal resource sharing, just sort of... "I have such and such, so if you want info from this resource, ask me" for example. That said, I don't know how precious Nintendo is about it's old guide books that are out of print; they offered scans for ones for the original four Zelda games for free on Zelda.com way back. User:Fizzle/sig 20:51, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
Alright, well I actually went ahead and bought the guide, so I'll let you know about those names in three to four weeks. Since it was one of the only English guides I didn't have at this point I thought what the heck, why not? — Hylian King [*] 08:21, 18 August 2012 (EDT)
Oh, well heck! That's cool. Thank you, you really didn't have to. Hope it wasn't too pricy. Do you have a scanner? I wouldn't ask you to scan much if you did, just the relevant pages. Either way I'm going to be interrogating you on that when you get it, haha! Incidentally, I recently found a scan of the Japanese Link's Awakening DX guide and have even ordered the Japanese one for the original Game Boy release (which contains names for some obscure, unnamed characters), so if there's anything you want from those at any point, add those to the list of what I've got. I'm hopefully going to be quite well set on Japanese guides from a certain part of the timeline, it seems. User:Fizzle/sig 14:38, 20 August 2012 (EDT)
Meh, I've been lifeguarding all summer so I have more money than I know what to do with at the moment. It's no big deal. You didn't have to buy all those Japanese guides either :P Sadly my scanner doesn't seem to be working. Which makes no sense because it photocopies just fine >_> — Hylian King [*] 14:54, 20 August 2012 (EDT)
Japanese guides get! They're so shiny too. Link's Awakening one contains tons of names and stuff for plenty of things that I'm sure some of this will come in handy. Any joy on your end? Apologies for not locating the names of the trees yet, the Oracles guides aren't arranged in an easy way to locate information like that, unfortunately. I'd have to pick out the names from different parts of the guide, annoyingly. I'll give it a good peer soon though. Meanwhile, expect the Link's Awakening translations page to get a bump up soon. User:Fizzle/sig 11:35, 3 September 2012 (EDT)
NICE! The LADX guide should arrive sometime this week. And take your time with the trees. Since they do name the Scent Tree in-game, I pretty much know what all the other Japanese names are already; I just need to know if they're actually used. If not, they're just conjectural titles and not really worth mentioning. — Hylian King [*] 13:37, 3 September 2012 (EDT)
So you received the guide? I can't get on Skype right now, but can I make some requests? Basically, names of anything that appears in the DX game: the new enemies in the Color Dungeon (I believe they're accurate already, but just for confirmation... also are all the other enemies named differently to normal or are they the same?), the name of the dungeon itself, the name given to the fairy at the end, if there is one, and the name of the guards of the dungeon (if capitalized, perhaps they're only described), the three bosses within (although I assume they're based on the Japanese names, given your recent edits) and the name of the photographer and the building he's in.
Also, if you can't get scans for proof, photos would be nice to have, just for my own purposes, not that I don't trust you, because I do! Moreso that I can prove it in future if need be, you know? I'll try and catch you on Skype soon anyway.
As for the validity of the names compared to Zelda.com... I mainly got the guide to confirm the names of the minor enemies (so they do come from an English and... official? Semi-official source?) but I do have some concerns about using the names for the bosses as opposed to the ones from Zelda.com. As BAD as Zelda.com is, it's possibly more "official" than a Prima guide... which is why I'm curious to how the guide deals with names for other things in the game and whether they match up with what we know already or not. Again, I'll bother you about this on Skype, but... just giving you warning in advance I guess, haha. User:Fizzle/sig 20:05, 12 September 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, I'm kinda regretting moving Stone Hinox so quickly. Oh well, it's an easy fix if need be. I'll gather some photos and send them to you via Skype. — Hylian King [*] 20:39, 12 September 2012 (EDT)

Whoa, hold up?

Can you like... Undelete that Gibdo picture please? That seemed unnecessarily swift. As far as I remember, it was better. The other might be sharper but it's pretty... gif-like. It looks rough. Plus the bigger one could be further improved. That was really unnecessary, especially without any discussion, or succession template, or anything. Someone went to the trouble of clearing the background for that image and you just zap it? Come on. Clarity and sharpness can be easily adjusted, something I was planning to do myself until you deleted it. Now I don't have the edited picture to work with. User:Fizzle/sig 11:15, 24 August 2012 (EDT)

Oops, looks like I've gotten a little trigger-happy lately. I admit to jumping the gun there, this is definitely something that needs to be discussed first. My mistake. — Hylian King [*] 11:26, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
No problem! I've just been a bit busy at the moment so there are some loose ends I've left lying around. Sorry about that. User:Fizzle/sig 21:25, 24 August 2012 (EDT)

Yo King, I need some advice.

I, like, REALLY want to help contribute to this site, but most of the good stuff's already been uploaded and stuff. So, I'm a huge fan of trivia, and I was wondering if you knew a page or two that'd be good for me to work on? I really want to become an Auto confirmed user, but I don't want to do it cheaply. Thanks in advance! TriforceSlash 19:28, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Well clearly you have the right intentions, so that's a good start. :)
I'm afraid you'll have to be a little more specific about what you're looking for, though. Saying you like trivia doesn't really tell me much, since that applies to just about anything. As a general rule, when looking for something to do on the wiki, Category:Stubs and Category:Articles needing attention are good places to start. If images are your thing, see Category:Articles with image(s) requested. Any page that has the "No Image" file also needs images added to it. I assure you, there is still a LOT of good stuff that needs to be added around here.
If you have any more questions about editing or anything else don't hesitate to message me again or any of the other staff. It's what we're here for. :) — Hylian King [*] 21:43, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition

I'm working on the game's article, and... could you add the game to the list of games you choose from when uploading a file? User:NorskTW/sig 11:42, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

It's not really worth it because only a few files on the wiki will be from that game. If you tag it as copyright and mention what game it's from in the summary that should be enough. — Hylian King [*] 11:45, 15 September 2012 (EDT)
Ok thanks :D User:NorskTW/sig 11:47, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

Etiquette and/or Authority Question

I've been making some significant edits to the layout of a page marked with this tag:

Template:Improve

The amount of information outside of one substantial table is low, so it almost qualifies as a stub, and the page definitely needs a few more icons uploaded, but that hasn't really been my focus. Anyhow, I think the page has been significantly improved and I hope my fellow wiki-users would agree. So my question (yes, this was leading somewhere after all!) is about removing the improve tag. Is there some procedure or etiquette that I would need to follow? Am I even empowered to remove this tag? I couldn't find this information anywhere.

Thanks a bunch. Agahnim's Shadow 15:33, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

You are welcome to remove the tag yourself if you feel like the article is sufficiently improved; you don't have to ask. Although if I were you I would put up the Template:Images notice, unless you plan on uploading the rest of the sprites in the near future.
It's funny, because I remember asking the same question to an admin back when I was new around here haha. — Hylian King [*] 08:51, 28 September 2012 (EDT)

Request

Congratulations Hylian King. Your manners are excellent. You may delete my account, because I cannot find a way to delete it myself. Gomess 512 15:01, 29 September 2012 (EDT)

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to delete wiki accounts. If you no longer wish to use your account, the only thing you can do is simply not log onto it. — Hylian King [*] 17:49, 29 September 2012 (EDT)

Page Names

Hey Hylian King, I was just wondering how to change the name of a page, I created the page House by the Bay, and on the wanted pages section, it still lists "House By The Bay" as wanted. I was just wondering so i could give it the proper capital letters to match it. :) TnTShank 21:58, 10 October 2012 (UTC)TnTShank

The capitalization is actually correct as it is; the page was just incorrectly linked to in another article. It should be fixed now. But for the record, to change a page's title, you have to move the page. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do that just yet. Once you make 100 edits and your account is over two weeks old, you will automatically become an autoconfirmed user, at which point you'll be able to move pages, among other things. Having already created an entire page, though, I'd say you're off to a pretty good start. Keep it up and you'll be autoconfirmed in no time. :) — Hylian King [*] 22:37, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Okay awesome, thanks! TnTShank 00:26, 11 October 2012 (UTC)TnTShank

Oracle Series Magic Rings

Hey Hylian King! What's up? I'm telling you this because I was just thinking that maybe I should get a second opinion before I do this.

I'm thinking of overhauling this page in aspects more than one.
The first aspect would be replacing all the images in this page with their png versions with the real colours. This also requires work on someone else's part who knows how to reduce the file size of transparent png images, because I don't, for which my uploaded files will be a little bigger than the desired sizes.
The second aspect would be changing the descriptions of many rings because they are either wrong or written in a misleading way. While I'm at it, I'll also add to the description from the games when it seems fit.
The third and last aspect would be changing the order in which rings are displayed by default right now to the numerical way in which they are ordered in the games.

Do you have anything to say about this? If all seems fine, I'll start work on it. User:Max 12/sig 05:09, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Wow, that's quite the project! It sounds great. Were you planning on uploading the rings at a 3x scale, like they are now?
Compressing PNGs is actually very simple. All I do is run them through PNG Monster: enter the location of the folder that contains the images to compress, check "Loop", and click "Run".
And hey, if ever you need help with some of the descriptions or wanted to split the task for uploading all the rings, I'd gladly do that. But if you'd rather do this on your own, that's cool too. I'll leave you to your work. :) — Hylian King [*] 12:24, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Are 3x sizes preferred? If so, then I'll upload them at that size.
Also, will using that cause ANY reduction in the quality of the images?
I'll ask any time I think I cannot do it without help. User:Max 12/sig 15:02, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
ZW doesn't have a strict policy on scaling sprites, so it comes down to personal preference. Personally, x3 seems to me like the best fit for the table, and that's what rings are currently scaled at. Plus, when the image itself is scaled x3 it's easy to resize it to x2 or even x1 when you need it; resizing a x2 image to x3 causes more quality loss.
And no to your second question. The compression is totally lossless. — Hylian King [*] 23:00, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
The work is complete. Thanks for the help. User:Max 12/sig 13:50, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
