Credibility[]

The Oracle of Ages and Seasons Lynel can shoot arrows. Also, in Oracle of Ages, they appear exclusively in the Black Tower. I'm a bit skeptical on my credibility on editing things, so can someone else please do it? Yashichi (talk) 00:21, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Weakness[]

There are a few errors on the weakness secion, so I'm going to correct it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SilverArcher (talk) 20:55, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

23 Lynels?[]

How I checked there were 20 in total, counting the 2 in Hyrule Castle and the one on Zora's Domain. Can I have to marked proof of all Lynel locations please? -- Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 15:14, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

Filter by Lynels and you get a count of 23. Ignore the "4" in the Coliseum, we haven't figured out yet why the game rip info says there's 4 there. But I have personally checked all of these spots, there should be 23. -- Hylian pi (talk) 15:43, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Actually, you are still double counting a Lynel. There is only one in Zora's Domain so there's 22 Lynel. A map with Lynel locations in the official guide also has 22 Lynel listed (7 Lynel, 7 Blue-Maned Lynel and 8 White-Maned Lynel), agreeing with the locations listed in the link above (excluding the Lynel counted multiple times). But only counting the ones that a double counted once, Im only counting 21 Lynel Locations -- Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 16:13, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
My bad, I did make one mistake. I counted the Zora's Domain one as two. There should be 22. 5 in Hebra, 4 in Great Hyrule Forest, 2 in Eldin, 1 in Lanayru, 3 in Necluda, 2 in Hyrule Castle, 4 in Gerudo, and 1 in the Coliseum. 5 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 1 = 22. -- Hylian pi (talk) 17:14, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
By Eldin, u mean Akkala Region right? And there's only 2 in Necluda -- Wolfgerlion64 (talk) 18:02, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Yes sorry I meant Akkala. And the third Necluda I was counting the one in Faron. It looked like it was in Necluda to me zoomed out. Not 100% sure the 4 around great hyrule forest are actually in that region, but i'm just trying to quickly identify them all. So to recap that's 5 in Hebra, 4 in Great Hyrule Forest, 2 in Akkala, 1 in Lanayru, 2 in Hyrule Castle, 2 in Necluda, 1 in Faron, 1 in the Coliseum, and 4 in Gerudo. (And yes, the Taobab Grassland area is in fact Gerudo, as tested with saving) -- Hylian pi (talk) 19:20, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

Breath of the Wild Out of Bounds Lynel[]

I'm not sure about this being a bug or exploit but..
Lynels teleport if:

  1. They are on uneven ground, such as a rock. They often stand at an angle.
  2. Are out of bounds, such as they jump up and tries to slam link with their melee weapon (often bypass their boundry)

After teleporting out (disappearing) for being on uneven ground, the game will try to look for a valid position to warp the lynel in front of link when link is on the ground. During this period, the fight music continues to play, even if the lynel isn't around. It is possible to make that lynel teleport out of bounds while the game searches for a destination to warp to.
And there is a subglitch using the above glitch. If the lynel decides to stop attacking link while out of bounds (either by going too far away, or places which the lynel cannot attack), it tries to teleport back into bounds at its original position. If link attacks or mounts the lynel during the teleportation, he'll interrupt it and the lynel will forget link's presence (until link goes in front of the lynel), allowing link to repeatedly re-mount and attack again after link is removed from the lynel's back.
Do note that there is a second boundary past the first one for lynels that simply ends the music and teleportation session entirely Lynkvslinel (talk) 03:09, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

Ploymus Mountain Lynel Differences[]

When link approaches a lynel and gets noticed, it stares link down for 30 seconds (regardless if wearing a mask or not) before roaring and initializing the fight, but starts attacking immediately (not roaring) after:

  • when link swings a melee weapon.
  • aims a bow or throwing at the lynel (without actually launching the projectile)
  • takes any damage from any sources (obviously from link), getting hit by another lynel if a player lures a crusher-weilding one and manages to make it run after link with the crusher above its head.
  • When link gets too close to a lynel (when the lynel mask or majora's mask unequipped)
  • When at moderate distance where a lynel pulls out a melee weapon and link has no weapon equipped, if link then pull out his, the fight starts.
  • Use ANY Sheikah Slate runes, even a camera facing in any direction.
  • Sees a remote bomb (both types) AND sees link.

However, there is only one lynel that have a different AI, the lynel in Ploymus mountain, where you get the shock arrows. There are also other differences as well:

  • After spotting link, provided you didn't use the lynel mask or majora's mask, the lynel will immediately start the fight after a yellow exclamation mark appears. Regardless of any of the triggers in the upper list.
  • It is more sensitive to sound, even with a level 3 stealth. All lynels can hear link sprinting, but when B button is rest (not held down) and pushing the analog stick at the furthest distance possible (so link goes at highest speed without sprinting), ploymus mountain lynel can hear that, others cannot. Therefore, you have to move much slower compared to others to avoid alerting them.
  • If the lynel is attacked from behind with a melee weapon or a damaging shield (lynel shield), it will not quickly notice link: it requires the lynel to face link first before actually fighting. Other lynels will notice after being attacked by a melee weapon, this also applies to simply touching the lynels.
  • Trivial quirk of the game: most enemies (and possibly entities) in the game freezes when they are far behind the camera, this lynel requires further distance than all other lynels in order for it to freeze.
  • All other lynels roar (not the fireball summon by thrust-stab, the "less loud" one before the music changes) occasionally as they walk around their territory not noticing link. The ploymus moutain lynel only walks around.
  • When using any shieakah slate runes runes, all other lynels must first pull out their weapons, if link is still using the runes after that, the lynel will start the fight. The lynel in ploymus moutain completely ignores this and immediately starts the fight. All of this is provided if you have a lynel mask/majora's mask equipped. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LynelFan 19:59, 13 January 2018 (UTC)‎
