The Rin Oyaa Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Directing the Wind,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine[]

Rin Oyaa Shrine is located at Snowfield Stable in the southwestern part of the Tabantha Tundra. As Link enters the Ancient Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Rin Oyaa.[2]

Themes and Navigation[]

Rin Oyaa Shrine features six fans, two metallic blocks, an Ancient Orb, and a Stone Sphere Socket that, when activated by the Orb, raises a Launcher up to Rin Oyaa. Four of the Wind Switches blow the Ancient Orb from the stone platform towards the Stone Sphere Socket, but the other two blow the Orb into a dead-end. These Wind Switches can be blocked by the metal blocks. In order to complete the Trial, Link must be standing on the Launcher when the Ancient Orb activates the Stone Sphere Socket.

Once this is done, Link will be raised up, allowing him to approach Rin Oyaa's Monk's Pedestal. The Monk will commend Link for completing the Trial, and they give him a Spirit Orb as a reward.,[3] They will then wish Link well before fading away.[4]

On the wall opposite the Monk's Pedestal is a Treasure Chest containing an Ancient Core. It can be accessed by placing one of the metal blocks on top of the Launcher, allowing Link to jump across the gap.
