The Red Ring is a recurring item in the The Legend of Zelda series, first appearing in The Legend of Zelda.
Appearances
The Legend of Zelda
In The Legend of Zelda, the Red Ring is the most powerful defensive item, upgraded from the Blue Ring. It cuts damage Link takes down to ¼ of what he takes normally. The Red Ring is found in Level-9 in both the first and Second Quest. When the ring is in possession, Link's tunic turns red. Wearing the Red Ring will also cause the Merchants' clothing, Princess Zelda's dress, and select items in Link's inventory to appear red.
Oracle of Seasons
In Oracle of Seasons, the Red Ring appears as one of the many Magic Rings found within the game. However, instead of increasing Link's defense, it doubles his offensive power. It also no longer changes the color of his tunic. It can be obtained from a golden-robed Old Man inside a cave on the bottom of the river in North Horon after defeating all four Golden Monsters scattered around Holodrum. Using either the Ring Link option or a Ring Secret will transfer the ring to Oracle of Ages.
Non-Canon Appearances
Hyrule Warriors
In Hyrule Warriors, the Red Ring appears as Wizzro's second level Ring. An 8-Bit Red Ring also appears as Midna's star level Shackle.
Throughout the game's Legend Mode, Wizzro uses the Red Ring form of his weapon. His Ring is a cursed artifact from which he manifests; it sucks the souls from its wearers, which are combined within the Ring to become Wizzro.[1]
