[[File:ALBW Pegasus Boots.png|20x20px]] [[|]] The Pegasus Boots are a recurring item in Template:LZS. They allow Link to dash at high speeds. The increased speed allows Link to bash into various objects, like trees, in order to knock out their contents.

Location and Uses

A Link to the Past

In A Link to the Past, the boots are called the Pegasus Shoes. Link receives them from Sahasrahla after retrieving the Pendant of Courage from the Eastern Palace. They must be used to obtain the Book of Mudora by bashing into a bookshelf inside the library. If Link charges into a tree, it may drop apples, bees, or a Bomb while in the Dark World. Some cracked walls can also be knocked down by bashing into them.

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, the Pegasus Boots are found inside the Key Cavern. When combined with the Roc's Feather, they can increase Link's jump distance. If the Sword is equipped while dashing, Link can perform a dash attack, which can damage enemies, cut through grass, and destroy crystal-shaped rocks. The Pegasus Boots are also required to defeat Slime Eye, the boss of the Key Cavern.

Four Swords

In Four Swords, the Pegasus Boots are required to defeat Dera Zol, the boss of the Talus Cave. While dashing, the Links can change directions instead of going straight forward.

Four Swords Adventures

In Four Swords Adventures, the Pegasus Boots also allow the Links to change directions while dashing. Dashing with them flips Terrorpins upside down. If the Pegasus Boots are given to a Great Fairy, they will be upgraded to Level 2. The upgraded boots allow the Links to run over large gaps, granting access to otherwise unreachable areas.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, Link receives the Pegasus Boots after helping Rem and his Minish helpers in making them. They are required to cross Castor Wilds, thus gaining entrance to the Fortress of Winds. The Pegasus Boots can be used to knock masks off walls, run through grass, and knock some trees down. By obtaining the Dash Attack Tiger Scroll, Link can perform said technique when equipping the boots and the Sword at the same time.

Phantom Hourglass

In Phantom Hourglass, the Pegasus Boots only appear in the multiplayer Battle Mode. In it, Link or a Phantom can take the Pegasus Boots power-up to increase their speed for a short time.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, the Pegasus Boots can be obtained by merging into a wall behind to the Shady Guy in Kakariko Village after he has stolen the Smooth Gem. Once caught, he will apologize for taking the stone and then proceed to give Link the boots. They can be used to bash into objects such as trees and pillars, knocking down lost Maiamais hidden on them.

  • In Hyrule Warriors, Young Link momentarily uses winged boots for his sixth Strong Attack combo to move around quickly. These boots bear a resemblance to both the Pegasus Boots and the Hover Boots.

Nomenclature

The Pegasus Boots are based on the eponymous horse from the ancient Greek Mythology. In it, Pegasus was a winged horse, famous for his running speed. The horse was sired by the Greek God of Oceans and Horses, Poseidon, and was famous for being one of the fastest mortal horses in the known world.
