The Map Screen is a recurring feature in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Overview[]

The Map Screen is an interface element where the player can view the various maps throughout The Legend of Zelda games and its spinoffs.

Mainline appearances[]

A Link to the Past[]

Oracle of Seasons[]

Oracle of Ages[]

Four Swords[]

The Minish Cap[]

The Map Screen is a Subscreen in The Minish Cap, accessed by pressing the Start Button. It displays the Map of Hyrule given to Link by Smith; as Link reaches new regions of Hyrule, they appear on the Map Screen. Various characters mark the Map of Hyrule to help Link on his journey; Smith marks the location of Minish Woods so that Link can find the Minish,[7] Gentari marks the location of the Four Elements,[8] a Town Minish marks the location of Witch's Hut so Link can wake up Rem,[9] Stockwell marks the location of his House so Link can feed Fifi,[10] another Town Minish marks the location of Mayor Hagen's Lakeside Cabin so Link can retrieve A History of Masks,[11] and the spirit of Gustaf is able to mark the location of the Royal Crypt.[12]

Whenever Link enters a dungeon, the Map Screen displays the Dungeon Map rather than the Map of Hyrule. Instead of navigating different areas of the Overworld, the Map Screen is used to navigate between floors of the dungeon. When Link obtains the Compass in the dungeon, the Map Screen displays the location of Treasure Chests and the boss.
