[[File:BotW Ice Arrow Model.png|20x20px]] [[|]] Ice Arrows are recurring items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][citation needed]

Location and Uses

Ice Arrow sprite from Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D

The weapon infuses Arrows with the power of ice, allowing them to freeze many enemies and make ice platforms across the water. They are also typically among the more powerful projectile weapons at Link's disposal. They deplete Link's Magic Meter, so they must be used sparingly.

Ocarina of Time

The Fairy Bow equipped with Ice Arrows from Ocarina of Time 3D

In Ocarina of Time, Link can obtain the Ice Arrows from the Gerudo Training Ground, a maze-like area in the Gerudo Fortress.[2] It is an optional quest since the Ice Arrows are not required to complete the game. However, they can be used to freeze enemies. Frozen enemies thaw after a few seconds or when hit with another attack. The freezing also deals damage; Ice Arrows cause twice as much damage as regular, Fire, or Light Arrows against enemies that can be frozen. Enemies that are invulnerable to freezing will only take as much damage as they would from any other kind of Arrow. If an enemy takes enough damage to die and freezes in the process, it will not die until it thaws.

Majora's Mask

The Hero's Bow equipped with Ice Arrows from Majora's Mask 3D

In Majora's Mask, the Ice Arrows are required to complete the game, and are more of a puzzle-solving tool than a weapon. They are found in Great Bay Temple after defeating its mini-boss, Wart. They are used to freeze water to make ice paths, freeze waterfalls, and to trap enemies in blocks of ice. They are also necessary to cross the Ikana River and reach the upper portion of the Ikana Canyon. Unlike in Ocarina of Time, where freezing does additional damage, in Majora's Mask, enemies frozen with the Ice Arrows take no damage at all. Fewer enemies in Majora's Mask can be frozen than in Ocarina of Time. In Majora's Mask 3D, Ice Arrows can only freeze paths of sparkling water.

The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker, Link must obtain the Ice Arrows to proceed further in the game. The young hero obtains the Ice Arrows (along with the Fire Arrows) from the Fairy Queen inside the larger island of the Mother and Child Isles, which can only be accessed with the "Ballad of Gales".[3] They must be used to freeze Fire Mountain so that Link can enter it and claim the Power Bracelets. However, the Fairy Queen will not hand over the ability to use the Ice Arrows until Link has rescued his sister, Aryll, from the Forsaken Fortress.

The Ice Arrows are a very effective weapon when used in conjunction with the Skull Hammer. Upon freezing an enemy with an Ice Arrow, one blow with the Skull Hammer will completely shatter almost every enemy, including the Wizzrobe Master. Some flying enemies can be destroyed simply from falling to the ground after being frozen.

Ice Arrows are a type of Arrow that can be used with any Bow in Breath of the Wild. They can be purchased from Shops or found inside Treasure Chests. Ice Arrows immediately dissipate into a burst of Ice after impact. If Link or an enemy is shot by an Ice Arrow, they are frozen solid for a short period of time. If Link hits a frozen enemy with a Weapon, the Ice shatters upon impact and more damage is dealt than normal. Ice Arrows deal an additional 10 damage to the attack power of the Bow being used. Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and Lynels sometimes use them. Link can immediately defeat Fire Wizzrobes, Meteo Wizzrobes, and Fire-Breath Lizalfos by shooting them with a single Ice Arrow.
