Very nice exploration deeper into the Zelda Middle Ages theme, Midnafan! I'm glad others are interested in this project now and have contributed as well, as these give ZW a more unique encyclopedia feel! =) User:Cipriano 119/sig 12:57, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

This is a very good article and I enjoyed reading it; it could act as a good introduction for someone new to the Zelda series, or for people who are interested in learning more about the Middle Ages (which I was). One thing to change though (albeit of little importance to the article overall): although they were both wielded by King Arthur, Excalibur is not the same as the Sword in the Stone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Murdokdracul (talk) 15:31, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

One thing I was uncertain of was the inclusion of a section for shields. The confusion comes from whether one would actually consider a shield under the category of "weapons". In order to surpass this issue, the article could be renamed as "Zelda Equipment in the Middle Ages, though this would likely require including other such items that appear in the games. In case that this article is amended, I will part with some information:

Most shields in the games, including the Hylian Shield, are heater shields. The only exceptions I know of are the Wooden and Iron Shields in Skyward Sword, including their upgraded forms. These two are difficult to accurately classify; the Wooden Shield is closest to a round shield; I doubt it would be considered a buckler, however. The Iron Shield resembles a square shield.
Here is a chart of several different types: http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo35/darkknight13/shieldchart.jpg The specific heater shield after which most of them were modeled is the fourth one, as indicated in the image.
While not directly applying to the above, it might be a good idea to go into greater detail on the types of swords. A useful resource for this endeavor can be found here: http://siennanorth.blogspot.com/2012/01/swords-make-it-break-it-or-fake-it.html The following site contains rather light information on more types: http://www.swordswallow.com/swordtypes.php
Noteworthy information concerning the types of swords: The Master Sword is close to a longsword. However, the Master Sword seems to change in size, which can be seen when comparing Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker (listed from longest to shortest). The Biggoron's Sword is similar to a broadsword, except for its length, which is greater than that of the Master Sword.
Also, I noticed that some articles, such as the Master Sword, refer to parts of a sword. An example would be in the aforementioned article for the Master Sword, which uses the terms "ricasso" and "fuller". While both of these provide links to Wikipedia, it might be more convenient to list them on this Wiki, perhaps in the "Sword" article, in which case this information would be moved to that article.

If my judgement on any of these matters is requested, you have but to ask. I may not get back immediately, but I will do my utmost to satisfy any concerns. Kyro-Dizzy 02:37, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Wow![]

I have never thought of Zelda weapons like that before! Its amazing that all the weapons in Zelda acually have significance in the Middle Ages! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toonerlink (talk) 04:55, 13 February 2015
