New Exclusive Article

Thanks Jase! This is the first place I'll submit any new ideas I get about the Zelda franchise (with cited sources, of course)! I hope more people decide to join me and contribute their own ideas and discussion to this intriguing universe.-Joe H

Now Hiring Newsy People

Just-a-wonderin, is this pretty much cancelled? I was random paging and came across this.--Zeldablade 04:06, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

It is over a year old. But I think if you have magazine subscriptions or generally seek Zelda news from official sources, they'd hire you anyway. Oh, and I doubt they actually pay you money. On free sites, I think of it as 'ceremonial hiring' rather than 'salary hiring'.Axiomist 04:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Apparently no one was interested. Only Jason knows for sure if it is canceled. Ask him if you are interested. You never know. He might like it.--Matt 04:19, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I think that the intent of hiring a news person was to keep the main page updated with something a little more often than once every one or two months. Right now an alternative solution is being discussed, so I'm not sure if he's still accepting or not. --Ando 15:59, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Wii Browser Update

Sweet I've been waiting for this —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.238.138.145 11:16, 8 April 2007

Two Years

"The people from 4chan hadn't actually attacked the real wiki, but the ghost copy." This is actually false. The 4chan attack had taken out something like 600 pages, and Lozzie spent a good 3 hours reverting all the damage. I remember, as I was in the chat room at the time this happened. [1]--Captain Cornflake 22:21, 27 April 2007 (PDT)

Actually, it's true. There was some weird database error, and the wiki was copied, so those 600 pages that were supposedly ruined that Loz spent hours restoring were on a defective copy of the wiki. During the 4chan attack I noticed that the wiki wasn't functioning properly, and investigated the issue, since it hadn't been working right for some time. I found out that the wiki had been copied and that a fully functional and up-to-date ("up-to-date" here means the version that existed before Lee's server move) version of the wiki existed, and the reason that the "real" wiki (the attacked one) hadn't been fully working was because it was the victim of a bad server transfer. --Jase 17:40, 29 April 2007 (PDT)

We're Back!!

It wouldn't have been hard to merge with the Zelda Wiki. It's much better being hosted on Wikia, you can ask for a whole bunch of extensions and you have many things available to use. But now that I think about it, it's for the better.--Richard 13:11, 17 June 2007 (PDT)

True, there is a wealth of extensions and such you can request, but overall a wiki owner has no backend control over the wiki. I would not be able to, say, back it up, or go into the FTP to upload files, or upgrade the wiki manually. I would also not be able to access the MySQL databases. While Angela says nothing's impossible (as in she could have made a special case for ZW.org), it really just isn't the same as long as it's hosted by Wikia.
And, to clarify, the merge would not have been simple. It was discussed how we could pull it off, but because there is no special way to magically merge wikis, it would have to be done manually by the community. Just try putting in 1000+ articles, then deciding which wiki keeps priority over already created articles! It truly is A LOT of work, and there's no other way to do it. --Jase 13:17, 17 June 2007 (PDT)

You guys really should've moved to Wikia. I like Wikia's Zelda wiki better. Losing the MySQL database isn't much and it's free. Just keep their articles and move the articles they don't have over there. Done.--Astroboy 14:18, 30 June 2007 (PDT)

Wow. Somehow I totally missed this. Anyways, good to know you made the right decision. I will personally hunt you down and kill you should you give this place into the desires of corperate greed. --Captain Cornflake 10:19, 3 March 2008 (EST)
I take back everything bad I've said about you, Jase. You're a damn fine man. I respect you for having the balls to put community before money.Justin(Talk) 15:34, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Several Thingamajiggers

Hi guys; just a few quick things really. Firstly, while Jason is away I'll be here keeping ZW.org in good order. I may not be here every day, but any problems or questions just drop me a note on my talk page.

Also, well done to everyone adding new content at the moment! Over 60 new pages in the last week has brought the number of Wanted Pages down to under 250 by my reckoning (compared to well over 500 not so long ago). Great work guys, keep it up! --Adam 12:49, 14 July 2007 (PDT)

Videos

Fantastic, I can see real potential for this (see Boomerang, Midna and Diababa for a few examples). A thought; how confident can we be that in, say, 6 months, the videos linked to will still be available on YouTube (or any other site)? --Adam 15:01, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

As far as YouTube goes, unless Nintendo believes that a certain video infringes on copyright laws, they'll be up until YouTube dies (so... never). Other web sites, however, I can't be so certain about. Other web sites are more apt to change their directory system, making old links obsolete. YouTube will be good for a while, though. Ando 15:55, 20 January 2008 (EST)
A lot of the videos I linked to from The Legend of Zelda (TV Series) only a few months ago were gone when I checked recently, either removed by user or for infringing rules. I think we may have to be careful, and keep itemising everything here. --Adam (talk) 16:21, 20 January 2008 (EST)

Exactly. They infringed on copyright laws. Most (if not all) game videos should be safe, as well as live-action videos (press conference clips, etc.), but that's probably about it. Ando 16:25, 20 January 2008 (EST)
