Hyrule Compendium Entry
A Woodland Boar is a stocky species of boar with a hunched back and rotund abdomen. Its a quadruped that walks on muscular legs, each one ending in a cloven hoof. The body is covered in brown fur, with the abdomen and head being a lighter shade than the muddier legs, haunches, tail, and ears. Spots appear down the back of the same muddy color. mane rises from the Boar’s shoulders and furry ruffs extend from its cheeks. The eyes are small and beady. The Boar’s snout is long and narrow, and is used to dig through the ground when grazing. Short ivory tusks poke out of the mouth, which are used to defend itself when charging at potential threats. E The tail is short and ends in tufts of hair. The tail stands up when the Boar is startled by a sound.
Woodland Boars are herbivorous swine that inhabit grassy and forested areas throughout Hyrule. A successful hunt on Woodland Boar produces Raw Meat, but they are often quite skittish to approach and will flee once detected. Though uncommon, a startled Boar may charge at Link in defense if he is detected. Boars will not charge at Link if he is on horseback. Bokoblins chase after Woodland Boars that wander near their camps, occasionally killing and eating them. Woodland Boars are notably the only large animals found on the Great Plateau, being most populous in the Forest of Spirits.
- Both Woodland Boars and Red-Tusked Boars closely resemble wild boars - large, tusked pigs native to the forests of Eurasia and parts of North Africa.
