KrytenKoro

i am sorry to bother you pakkuna, but User:KrytenKoro is continuing to try and spread lies that i am somehow connected to some user he didn't like or that i am actually him, and i would like this stopped. he is getting on my nerves, and i'd like him to either be told to stop or for some action to be taken against him to discourage him from continuing this slander. i apologize for involving you in this, but i am getting tired of the guy, and i'd like something done about it. thank you. TheLink7 (talk) 02:30, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

important

I have added a few "basic notes" for discussing things with me at the bottom of my user page, please read them before the next time you speak to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Krystal 23:17, 16 December 2013‎

I've spared no expense to make note of such information for my future reference.
However, as I act on the canon established on this wiki, it really won't prevent me from preserving our canon policy wherever applicable.
Oh, and don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). - TonyT S C 07:57, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Goddess of Time

Just wanted to apologize; I had gotten my memories mixed up and misremembered that Zelda had been specified as the Sage of Time.

In regards to the Master Sword -- it is said to be a ship that sails though time in OoT, and unless I'm misremembering again, SS says that Hylia created it, doesn't it?KrytenKoro (talk) 16:54, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Also, just wanted to ask about this bit, because it's specifically designed to be a segue between Nayru and Hylia, and without it the section needs to be reworked. What was the objection with it, so that I can fix it?
"The holder of her Triforce of Wisdom, Princess Zelda, is even the Sage of Time, one who gives Link the Ocarina of Time and teaches him the Song of Time."KrytenKoro (talk) 16:56, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't even realize that. My apologies. I just thought I would remove it all because it states those things earlier in the article ("Whoever the Goddess is, it is clear that she is linked with the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, who is the one to introduce Link to the Temple of Time, the Ocarina of Time, the "Song of Time," and even the concept of a Goddess of Time. Using these instruments, Zelda is also...").
I would say that it would serve better to move that information that I quoted down below after the Nayru bit and merge it with your sentence.
About the Master Sword bit, I forgot that Sheik said that, so my condolences about that as well. In Skyward Sword canon, Hylia doesn't create the Master Sword; she creates the Goddess Sword, which Link then tempers into the legendary blade. Hylia further empowers it with her blessing, but I wouldn't say that she directly created it. I suppose you could get away with saying that, but it's a case of iffy canonicity in my opinion. - TonyT S C 17:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
In that case, may I readd it, clarifying that it's not known whether the ability was within the Master Sword as created by Hylia, or imbued by the blessings of the Sacred Flames?KrytenKoro (talk) 18:45, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Sure, that's fine. - TonyT S C 19:29, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Poe Soul

Also wanted to apologize for the misspelling on that page (I've noticed I've started having that problem, but my browser doesn't have spellcheck to point it out to me), and also notify you that I revised the Poe counts in text as per Chicago MoS guidelines; if Zeldawiki has a policy negating that rule, then please revert.KrytenKoro (talk) 17:10, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

There's no need to apologize for misspelling. As I've demonstrated recently, we're all bound to err. :P
I'm not absolutely certain, but I recall it was discussed and agreed that any number ten or greater should be written as numbers, and any number below nine should be written normally, so that's why I converted all of those numbers. - TonyT S C 17:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Okay, will revert then.KrytenKoro (talk) 18:45, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

A Request!

Can you please tell TriforceOfPower to stop removing information off of the Palace of Winds article, I've already given the user at least three reasons why not to remove them, but the user will not listen. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 19:50, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

I've spoken to TriforceOfPower about edit warring, however I believe the user was right in removing the information from the page in order to split the page by game. If there are further issues, I will handle them. - TonyT S C 00:23, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Capitalization

Okay, I guess color me confused about why we're capitalizing all those words? It definitely indicates them to be proper nouns, and it's not like the game scripts always refer to them as proper nouns, even when they are the official names. What authority are we basing this style on?KrytenKoro (talk) 20:43, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Hrm. Well, I've always considered it an unspoken rule that item names should probably be capitalized.
To answer you, though, the games have never really been very consistent with it. I was playing Majora's Mask the other day and noticed an inconsistency within the same paragraph from a character (not to mention different games treat things differently, so it's largely a capricious mess). Typically the so-called precedent is based on inventory screens, where (just about) every title is capitalized, even Sword. Frankly, the consistency that it offers by keeping these examples capitalized just makes for a more coherent base for editing and reading in my opinion. However, if you disagree, feel free to take it up at the Discussion Center so it can be decided one way or another. - TonyT S C 10:14, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm new here, any chance you could point me in the right direction?

Hey Pakkun, I've been browsing around in the Discussion Center and Caste Town looking for something to edit. Improvements that need to be made seem pretty vague to me and talk pages regarding things like merging, splitting, etc. haven't seen an edit in months or even years, so I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me exactly what needs work and how I could best help out the wiki. William (Talk) 02:37, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Well off the top of my head, there's the categories for Articles Lacking Sources. If you have access to any text dumps, then that's always a good option. If you're up for a larger undertaking, feel free to take a swing at the Category:Articles Needing Reorganization and try to make those more standardized.
Insofar as direct work that I think needs attention, Template:Mask needs to be replaced by Template:Item, so you can assume that responsibility if you'd like. I can get back to you if you'd like to do something else or if anything's unclear, however. - TonyT S C 06:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll go take a look at those things and see what I can do. Happy Birthday, by the way! William (Talk) 19:07, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
So I replaced all of the pages that used Template:Mask with Template:Item. Anything else (Template work, I mean) can I help out with? William (Talk) 07:27, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Sure! If I may butt in... We're currently trying to sort some of our maintenance categories by game. If you'd like, you can help us by adding relevant game acronyms to Template:Sources, Template:Fact, Template:Improve, Template:Stub, Template:Sectstub, like so. (For the record, all our maintenance categories are found under Category:Articles Needing Attention.)
I'll let you know if I think of anything else. — Hylian King [*] 10:42, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan! William (Talk) 20:14, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity, if a page would be tagged to more than one game, how would you put that in the template? For example, the Dark Link page would be in Four Swords Adventures and A Link Between Worlds, so would the template there be {{Sources|FSA|ALBW}} or would it be something else? William (Talk) 20:19, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
That is correct, for up to six games. If an article covers more than six games then don't bother specifying them at all. Sorry for not mentioning that earlier. — Hylian King [*] 01:10, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Great! So if there is more than six, is there any kind of preference (Oldest first, newest first, etc.). I don't think I'll have to worry about too many of them, since a lot of things aren't really in any more than a couple games anyway. I'll resume working again a little later into the night, right now I need a bit of a break. William (Talk) 02:17, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Though I'm not the one who's behind the template's organization, I don't believe there's any preference; I trust it all just categorizes itself regardless. - TonyT S C 02:41, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Ah, what I meant was this: if an article covers more than six games, it's OK not to add any acronyms at all for the time being. This is still completely new, so I think it's best to start with the easy stuff first (articles covering only a few games) and move from there.
That said, Template:Images can now be categorized by game as well. This one can have up to 20 games, which is more than enough for all of them. — Hylian King [*] 03:06, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Link picture

Hey, any reason for changing back the Link picture from the Hyrule Warriors version to A Link Between Worlds one? Zero-ELEC (talk) 19:28, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Only images from confirmed-canon games are to be placed in the infobox. Since Hyrule Warriors isn't, it can't be put there. This was a decision made back when new Smash Bros. images were released around the time of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I believe (hence why Super Smash Bros. Brawl images shouldn't go in the infobox either). - TonyT S C 19:35, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Cool beans, good to know. Zero-ELEC (talk) 19:39, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Ixbran and Hyrule Warriors

I don't want to start a fight by confronting this user directly, but I've noticed they're adding a lot of HW material without providing sources. It likely is accurate, or I would probably be more brusque with them, so what should I do?KrytenKoro (talk) 14:19, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

I've messaged Ixbran for you. I felt that all that was necessary was to ask said user to return to their edits and properly source the information, as is what should have been happening. Thanks for trying to seek an alternative to unpleasant confrontation though. - TonyT S C 10:04, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Also, I apologize for completely forgetting your previous message to me about capitalization, but I've responded to that. Didn't mean to leave you hanging for so long. - TonyT S C 10:18, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Faron Woods

You haven't responded on the article Faron Woods so:

Quote and some of the scans: http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/brand-new-hyrule-warriors-details-boomerang-skutullas-weapon-bags-and-more
last few pics: http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/new-hyrule-warriors-screenshots-preview-ocarina-of-time-stages-characters#comment-1501981758

These are why I had its own page.

In addition, as shown with new info it is located in the same spot in the games' story mode Hyrule Field, Eldin Caves, and Lanayru Gorge before Cia combines the worlds meaning it is indeed the games original separate dimensional stage so it and the other three locations should have they're own pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darre (talk) 23:58, 28 July 2014

Like you said, it is still the same Faron Woods from Skyward Sword, so there's no need to have a single page for it. It's like in Link's Crossbow Training, none of the stages have a page on its own as they are the same from Twilight Princess. Chuck (talk) 17:54, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Please sign your posts with four tildes, Darre.
Ditto for what Chuck said. We didn't give it any special treatment with Link's Crossbow Training because it's the same location. - TonyT S C 04:07, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Question

Out of curiosity, where do you get your scans for the transparent character artwork for Hyrule Warriors from? Nintendocan (talk) 00:33, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

The Nintendo Assets Library through Zelda Wiki's registered account. Regrettably, it doesn't have them all yet. - TonyT S C 03:39, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about the editing mistake!

I didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to add random screenshots to pages, I apologize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesorceresscia (talk) 16:37, 20 October 2014

There's no reason to apologize as that's not the reason I removed the image from Cia's page. It was actually a picture of Lana, so I moved it to where it belongs. You weren't going against the rules, however.
Also, don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)! :) - TonyT S C 00:07, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Ohhhh. At the time I think I couldn't tell the difference between their costumes, oops. Thanks for correcting things for me; I appreciate it. Thesorceresscia (talk) 22:46, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Material

How come the in-game order wasn't acceptable?KrytenKoro (talk) 04:38, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

I wondered why it was like that. It seemed to have no logic to it, and I figured that since this is a listing for an encyclopedia it should be in a comprehensive format, like alphabetical order. You're welcome to bring it up on the Material talk page if you would rather have it in the in-game order, but we may be able to have both. (May being the operative word, I haven't looked at the coding for it yet.) - TonyT S C 15:20, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
UPDATE: I just got through with making it function like how I described, with both options being available (here). Hope that's satisfying enough, but let me know if you feel something could be different. - TonyT S C 20:57, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Name Change

Is it alright if I could get my name changed to GamingFanatic? Because I go by that almost everywhere else now. Thanks. ~Nintendocan (Talk · Contribs) 19:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Done!User:Justin/sig 19:33, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! ~Nintendocan (Talk · Contribs) 19:34, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
No prob, man! Just remember to change your sig to reflect the new name.User:Justin/sig 03:43, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

RE: Oracle of Ages artwork

Sorry for the much delayed response, but here's the file: [1] --Immewnity (talk) 05:11, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Mediation request

I seem to be unable to work efficiently and compatibly with this wiki. In order to not bias or color your interpretations, please just see this reversion and tell me what I should be doing, as this situation just does not seem to be working out.KrytenKoro (talk) 16:05, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Pakkun's computer is broken at the moment, so he'll be unable to respond. Justin is also taking a break from ZU and ZW, so he won't be able to respond either.
Kryten, I'm honestly getting a little sick of this. I gave a valid reason for the undo. The reason was because that section clean up, which was and still is unfinished, was part of --MY-- sandbox, so I would have preferred it to be left untouched, especially because it was still unfinished. I reverted it because I was still technically working on it. It's common sense. I already responded to you on your talk page about that. Please respect that and please do not take these edits personally anymore. -The Goron Moron (talk) 18:05, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
As GorMor said, we would never revert any edit unless we had a good reason to, and we would never do it to make anyone feel unwanted. We all discuss everything with one another, and any decision made by one of us is backed by all of us. User:WilliamLC/sig 19:03, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
(I'm posting this from my Wii U.)
Kryten, it sounds like you tried to implement one of The Goron Moron's sandboxes prematurely, is that right?
If that's the case, then perhaps we could come to an agreement over Sandbox norms. While nothing on-wiki is really property of the contributor (except in legally delicate situations), I think it would be fair to agree to avoid direct interference with the work in question until or unless the creator declares that it's "fair game" (through the Sandbox or by publishing it themselves).
Of course, these things may be imperfect and require revisions, which are fine to fix, but I would recommend going about it in a more diplomatic method. If it's something you feel should be rectified immediately, post to that sandbox's talk page and point out what you feel needs to be fixed. Or, you could wait until it's published to whack away at it (if the user is unquestionably inactive, there's nothing stopping you from making a copy of the sandbox and going from there on your own subpage).
Does this sound fair to anyone? Please let me know if I missed anything. - TonyT S C 21:28, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
So the rule is "don't incorporate suggestions from sandboxes"? Fine.KrytenKoro (talk) 23:41, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Kryten, you're not even listening. I have explained repeatedly for why I had reverted it, and gave a reason why in the edit summary. It's not because "I don't take suggestions". It's because the entire work was not done yet. By all means, I would have been okay with receiving suggestions. But instead of giving me that feedback, you went ahead and added the edit prematurely without even asking me first. That is why I reverted it. Because I was not yet done. -The Goron Moron (talk) 23:50, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Kryten, I am very sorry that you're feeling frustrated over these things, but I'm willing to make now the time to conclusively settle your grievances, or at least try to. Things have been a bit hectic and busy with the staff, but it's clear that your concerns need to be addressed as soon as possible.
Could you please direct me to each instance so that I can look them over? I will do my best to make sure they're answered satisfactorily.
I wasn't fully aware of what you did prior to the revert, but it does look like you published what he (GorMor) was working on, before it was finished. That's all I was concerned about and that's why I proposed that we trust that they'll publish these changes when they feel it's sufficient. Also I didn't mean to imply that you were editing his Sandbox, I just meant to place that as a general rule of thumb.
In any case, let's work together to clear these things up and end this frustration. - TonyT S C 00:34, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
Im sorry that I got upset.KrytenKoro (talk) 05:20, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

TWW Hylian

This might help, functionality-wise, if that template was what I think it was.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:43, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Wii

I'm doing alot of my stuff on my Wii. Is that good? ToonLink13 23:09, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean editing with a Wii, any contribution is great. I would recommend using an actual computer instead, but you're welcome to edit with whatever device you have. :) - TonyT S C 22:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

sorry

I wasn't aware of that pop culture page, when I was thinking of the Zelda stuff in SU, i thought only the cameo pages was where it was supposed to go. Sorry for making a big deal out of it.
Ixbran (talk) 07:21, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

It's alright, Ixbran. I should've made it more clear that I intended to move it to another page (I hoped to get it added to the other page swiftly). But since that page should be exclusively for Nintendo-licensed products, perhaps we need to make that more clear, such as renaming the page to "Official Cameos of The Legend of Zelda" or some such? It should be much more clear than it is now, and I'm sorry for the confusion that it's caused. - TonyT S C 22:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Wondering about a new extension

I was wondering if you or someone else could install the Timed Media Handler extension to the wiki, as it would be very useful in being able to play video game music on pages. Right now, .ogg and the like lead to a link which has another link leading to the actual file, making it not very user-friendly. This becomes especially important on the Recurring Music in The Legend of Zelda Series page, where the .ogg files are pointless since the reader has to click through various links to get to the actual music. --The Retro Gamer (talk) 01:01, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

We used to have one, but since hasn't been added again. Hopefully we'll have one again soon. For any technical issue you might find, please refer to our tech Justin instead. - Chuck * (Talk) 05:18, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
