I hate edit wars and don't want to turn this into one, but I have some experience studying linguistics, and phonology in particular, and I assure you that the diphthong in "toe" is /oʊ/, not /ɑʊ/. The respell key even agrees with me, as it matches "oe" with /oʊ/, not /ɑʊ/. So would you mind telling me what you meant by what you said when you undid my edit? Or, for that matter, why the pronunciation is listed as /dʒɛ ˈruː dɑʊ/ in the first place? --Osteoderm Jacket 00:22, 20 February 2012 (EST)

Ah, whoops. Sorry, I guess I was just being unobservant again. I've fixed it, assuming that it's pronounced like it is in Japanese (I don't see why it wouldn't be). Thanks for pointing that out. - TonyT S C 00:31, 20 February 2012 (EST)
Quite all right. I hope I wasn't too snappish. (Actually, the Japanese pronunciation of the word is /ɡe ɽü do/, as indicated by its spelling in katakana. So an English pronunciation based as much as possible on this while staying within English phonology would be something along the lines of /ɡɛ ruː doʊ/, with a hard G sound. The position of the stress can't really be determined from the Japanese word and would be arbitrary. However, we needn't base our pronunciation of the term in English on the Japanese pronunciation. /dʒɛ ˈruː doʊ/ is fine as well. I was just objecting to /dʒɛ ˈruː dɑʊ/ because it doesn't make sense as a way to read the word in either Japanese or English.) Thanks for listening. --Osteoderm Jacket 00:44, 20 February 2012 (EST)

Hey, Pakkun! This is regarding your removal of my edit to the Skyward Sword manga page, where I added a link to the English translation of the comic on my website. I understand the desire to avoid having members that use ZeldaWiki to advertise their own websites, but because I do many translations of Zelda-related material that isn't available elsewhere, I have a lot of content on my site that I feel contributes to the wiki. Does this mean I can't write about it or link to it unless someone else does first? - GlitterBerri 13:55, 6 July 2012 (EDT)

The1andonlylink sockpuppet

There is a sockpuppet account that The1andonlylink has created. He has created the Link411 account that was an obvious sock. I've saw it in the recent changes log that he should be using only 1 account. Could you block those accounts for sockpuppeting please?--Brandondorf9999 08:04, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

New users often tend to create multiple accounts, but they neither of them really ever get used, so it's a somewhat common practice. The staff have taken notice, but creating multiple accounts isn't a justifiable reason to ban somebody. If the user happens to become active, the user will be given a choice between the two accounts, and the one not chosen will be banned. However, it's unlikely that the user will become active in the first place. - TonyT S C 09:09, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Zelda Universe Problem

A discussion is taking place at the Hyrule Castle to discuss a current issue with You can access it here. --Cuddles (Sit next door) 13:27, 11 July 2012 (EDT)

Thank you for informing us. However, it isn't necessary to alert us because we often check the Recent Changes, so we were already aware of the situation. Nonetheless, I have responded to the issue in Hyrule Castle. - TonyT S C 16:56, 11 July 2012 (EDT)

Why did you undo my edit to this page? You specified no reason. --Cuddles (Sit next door) 00:05, 19 July 2012 (EDT)

While adding information would not have been a problem, in the process you had also removed information (the note to use FileInfo and the category tag) and changed things that did not need to be changed. Rewording things just for the sake of it is generally frowned upon; conserving people's previous contributions to the wiki is an important part of Editing Etiquette. — Hylian King [*] 11:17, 24 July 2012 (EDT)

Road to Mountain Village

Thanks for that! Now the article is pretty much complete, as there isn't really anything else to add. I especially appreciate that you've added a reference for the Gossip Stone's text.

Keep up the good work! Kurtis C. 14:58, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

No problem. - TonyT S C 22:43, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Four Swords Manga

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you redid my edits on the Four Sword manga page. I was trying to edit the page so it fit the manga (Which I have) better, and to correct spelling and grammar. What did I do that made the article worse? And I really am sorry for all of the saving, but our computer crashes often and I have lost many edits I did on the wiki because of this. I saved once I was done with each paragraph. Sorry to bug you but I didn't really understand... —Darkness(Talk) 21:14, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

I only reverted one edit, and that was to put a comma back where it was. Apart from that, I just fixed typos and replaced links. - TonyT S C 06:47, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Wait... I thought I got rid of all the typos! In every paragraph! Or did my edits not count? Sorry... (And thanks for telling me. I thought you redid the whole page...) —Darkness(Talk) 12:58, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
My spell-checker still caught some, so there must've been some that you missed. It's improbable that your edits didn't count, though. And no problem. - TonyT S C 13:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Odd, because I have a spell checker on my computer and it caught none, but I will stop arguing because it's just not worth it. Thank you so much! —Darkness(Talk) 21:07, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
What do you mean by "replaced links"? —Darkness(Talk) 21:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
It's a little something Pakkun does. People often use unnecessarily difficult ways to write links. He simplifies them to reduce clutter. Dekler 22:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
I didn't write any links... And thanks for answering my question, Dekler. Oh, and is there anything that should be added to this article? I rewrote some of it so it's not that bad anymore... —Darkness(Talk) 01:36, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
We didn't say you did. I just go around on pages and replace things like:
and other similar things. As for the article, I'm not sure; I haven't taken the time to look at it. I'm not sure how much I would be able to help, as I haven't read the FS manga. - TonyT S C 03:42, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry. And how do you put those bright blue boxes around your text? It's not working for me. (I can't sign my posts anymore, this post is by Darkness) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkness (talk) 08:39, 3 November 2012
You can just sign your posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~. And, I seem to recall having answered your question in regards to the blue boxes on another user's talk page, but you can either place a space before any text on a line, or you can place your text between the <pre> tags. - TonyT S C 17:37, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry! —Darkness(Talk) 22:06, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
You don't need to apologize; I don't mind answering questions. :P - TonyT S C 02:24, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Featured article voting

Hey, so Mandi brought up a good point here about our Featured Article and Image voting systems. I personally would like to see a change, but that just won't happen if no one says anything or voices their opinion. I'm asking you to please voice your opinion on changing the system so we can move forwards with proposing actual changes and actually GET somewhere with this. Please and thank you!Justin(Talk) 04:31, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Pakkun, Fi is a "she." The game directly calls her "she," and there's refs on the page to support that. Why are you changing all the pronouns to "it?"Justin(Talk) 21:27, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

I consider the word of Aonuma more canonical than what very well may be a translation error. I agree that I don't think it has feminine organs, but I also doubt that Fi is of the female gender. Even though Fi's voice is feminine, its style of speech is still very neutral and robotic.
I think it's obvious that it was intended to be genderless, despite what's likely interpretation on the translator's part. It is definitely feminine, but you can program a robot to be so, yet it doesn't change the fact that it's a gender-neutral entity. (If it helps, think of Fi as a mannequin. No matter what wig or clothes you put on it or even what pose you put it in, it's still an object.)
It's been brought up that we consider Ghirahim to be male, but that I consider Fi to be genderless. However, my counter to this is that while they may be (it's only implied) to be the same species (Sword Spirit), I believe they're programmed differently and serve different functions. Ghirahim is prone to fits of rage, while Fi is cold and emotionless.
If they are indeed of the same so-called species, that doesn't mean they have to have binary attributes. Ghirahim can be created as a male with masculine body, organs and fallible emotions, which allow him to serve his duty as Demise's envoy.
On the other hand, Fi was created with a feminine-ish body (including vocal cords, but I believe it lacks the female organs to identify as having female sex), but it was created to be an intellectual resource to aid Link. Its purpose is to identify and assess key information. The only time it sings is when it's orating a message or performing a duty relevant to the task of singing. For this, I just consider it a necessary application "downloaded" into Fi's memory to accomplish these duties. Basically, it's just an incidentally necessary component for Fi to have feminine traits, including the voice, so that it may fill its role. And perhaps it is because of these traits, despite their intention, that Zelda refers to Fi as female.
In reality, I seriously doubt that Fi identifies as female in any manner. It's just as likely that Zelda treats Fi as female because she herself is human and fallible in her own right to the extent that she now shows a range of compassion that she lacked as a deity. As for other characters, including the narrative, it may be that they're simply ignorant to the fact that it was created as a walking memory receptacle and tour guide. It's also possible that they're just ignorant to the fact that binary genders don't necessarily exist. Even Scrapper could have just a sexual attraction to Fi (the Ancient Robots have some means of reproduction, as Skipper had children), in that he is only attracted to its production design and recognizes it as a female unit. - TonyT S C 00:37, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
I think that a "translation error" is out of the question when Fi is referred to as female by just about everything in the game. But you do make valid points, although I'm still not convinced. At this point, you should make a section on the talk page and see what everyone thinks. If the consensus is to use "it," then I'll concede. But until then, we should leave it as "she."Justin(Talk) 00:48, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
This discussion has been moved here. Please add any thoughts there. - TonyT S C 01:04, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Hello. I've been having the same problems with the Zelda Wiki Skype chat that I was having yesterday. The chat isn't appearing in my Recent Conversations, if I search it, it's not in my Contacts, and neither you nor Justin appear in my contacts. Even weirder, I changed my profile pic yesterday and it's been reverted. Do you have any idea what happened? —Darkness(Talk) 15:44, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Skype can tend to be glitchy sometimes. If you're using the latest version, try downgrading a bit. I used to use Skype 4. something because it allowed you to have conversations open indefinitely and it was much more organized. Of course, there might just be problems with the Skype servers. It happens from time to time.Justin(Talk) 16:07, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
If it manages to appear in "Recent", you can right click it and designate the chat as one of your favorites. This will basically treat the entire conversation as one of your contacts, ensuring that it shows up. - TonyT S C 18:45, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

I accidentally just kicked myself from the chat. Can you please add me back? —Darkness(Talk) 01:59, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Re: Recent Edits

I was just having an argument with myself. Sorry if it caused any problem with taking up space or anything, but I was not trying to be disruptive.....

--TripleTriforce 17:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

This behavior is getting to be unacceptable. Adding other users' signatures in a mock sort of a vandalism and claiming to be "arguing with yourself" is not only disruptive to other editors, but it is disruptive to the patrolling staff as well. I highly recommend you cease this behavior at once and start making productive edits.Justin(Talk) 19:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Hey Justin why not look at my recent contributions and think twice?

--TripleTriforce 14:52, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Let's try to not be spiteful. I don't think Justin worded it very well, but he just had meant that it's kinda a pain to go through and patrol all the edits of repeated material and that it's not really helping anyone to toy around like that. Thank you, though, for making the effort to go and make productive edits. :) - TonyT S C 19:21, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Huh. But Justin has no right to accuse me of engaging in bad behavior or the wiki!!!!!!!!

--TripleTriforce 22:23, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

P.S. I hope that didn't insult anyone.

Well, we have an editing etiquette that outlines how to behave with other users, but Justin is a Patroller, so he was just trying to do his job and make sure that your edits were legitimate and constructive. - TonyT S C 09:21, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

--TripleTriforce 22:58, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

P.S. : Justin replied. I would like to end this conversation.

I...didn't insinuate that. And if both of you have it resolved, that's good. - TonyT S C 23:10, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry about that. Looks like this is over.

P.S. : How do you block people? Because this user say that he wants to be blocked......

--TripleTriforce 21:37, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Blocking is done via Special:Block. Only admins and bureaucrats have the ability to block users, though. — Hylian King [*] 21:43, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey! I need help on my user page. I'm trying to add a picture of an ocarina, and I can't seem to get it on. Can you help me?Ankazar 00:44, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Of course! Firstly, I recommend that you read up on our image guide here, as that's really useful. It looks like you have it handled, but if you still need help, I'm happy to provide assistance. :) - TonyT S C 03:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

My Mistake!

Sorry about that, I thought that was for the English version. I totally forgot that the United Kingdom translates the Zelda Frachise too sometimes. --Vaati The Wind Demon 16:44, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, some people just use it as a redundant spot for the American name, though. :P - TonyT S C 16:49, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Your images

I saw your File:PakkunTransparencyTest.png[1] and they are indeed amazing. Can I upload these images as the new versions of Romani & Cremia and Link's artworks?--Prince Ludwig 20:46, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, but I've already uploaded the Romani and Cremia image, and I spoke with my fellow staff about the Link artwork, and the consensus kinda was that the ground should remain gray-colored and not partially transparent. - TonyT S C 06:15, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
I see... Okay. Keep up the great work. These are amazing. Man, I sure wonder how you're doing it.--Prince Ludwig 08:53, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
A lot of it is just fiddling with the alpha properties. I might get around to making a tutorial sometime. - TonyT S C 09:27, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Road to Ikana

Thanks for expanding Road to Ikana, you've saved me a lot of time and effort. =)

I've been more active over at the actual Wikipedia these days, so I haven't gotten around to doing much here in recent times. Kurtis (talk) 02:59, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Ah, no problem. You don't have to feel pressured into editing here, but you're always welcome. :P - TonyT S C 03:07, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

You will be banned

Because I hate you and you are evil.

...actually, I'm just bored. Have you checked my idea about splitting up the translation pages that I posted on the staff boards? I think you'd be perfect for going through with it, considering how f#$@ing busy I am. No one really disagreed, and I think it would be beneficial. You up for it?Justin(Talk) 11:01, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Sure. I guess I have a couple questions about it, but you'll be able to answer it over there. - TonyT S C 18:32, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Haha. Yeah, I didn't realize you'd responded, but I'm whipping something up real quick. I even forgot I messaged you this morning. I was a bit tipsy...Justin(Talk) 01:46, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

That is so it.

Okay, I have HAD it with you people. You say that Miyamoto and Aonuma are the "word of God"? Look up at the real God. In his eyes, everyone is equal. No one is any more important than anyone else. Believe whatever you want to, but I know the truth, and it will only hurt you. --Krystal (talk) 02:20, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Please see User talk:Hylian King#Throne Room

Thanks!KrytenKoro (talk) 03:57, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

I've seen it. I'll take care of it when it happens from now on. - TonyT S C 04:16, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Lorule Castle/Throne Room

hello pakkuna, i'm a new editor here and i've recently been in a bit of a debate with User:KrytenKoro about his insistence on keeping the throne room separate from the main article for lorule castle. he seems to think that because you cannot see the rest of the castle's map while in the throne room and vice versa that this makes the throne room a dungeon all of its own. personally, i and a few others do not see that as justification for keeping them separate, as it just seems silly to single out one room in the dungeon from the rest of it to make a separate article about it based upon something like that. User:Hylian King directed us to you because he said that he has not played albw yet, but that you had. is this true? if so, do you feel the throne room is to be considered a dungeon all of its own? or do you feel that it's a part of the lorule castle dungeon and should be included in the main dungeon article as such? we would appreciate your insight in this. thanks and cheers! TheLink7 (talk) 01:36, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Just to clarify the misrepresentation of my argument: Upon entering the Throne Room, you recieve a dungeon map on the lower screen that is distinct from the dungeon map recieved in Lorule Castle. To my knowledge, there are no dungeons in the entire Zelda series where you recieve multiple distinct dungeon maps for the same dungeon. The "Throne Room" dungeon map, like all other dungeon maps in ALBW, has the dungeon's name at the top, as well as the dungeon's name in Hylian script. Unlike the Lorule Castle Map, it says that it consists of only one floor; the Lorule Castle Map also does not include the Throne Room. I'm fine with something like how we treat Hyrule Castle, as a location containing multiple distinct dungeons throughout the series (so, a "Lorule Castle (location)" article that linked to both the Lorule Castle dungeon and the Throne Room dungeon), but in my opinion the game is very straightforward about separating the two areas, and we should honor that on the wiki.
I can provide screenshots if requested.KrytenKoro (talk) 01:45, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
once again kryten, i am asking for pakkuna's opinion here, not yours. i stated it very clean-cut and dried, regardless of how you seem to be trying to confuse. i would appreciate if you would let him consider the facts and quit trying to color opinion. TheLink7 (talk) 01:49, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Possible sockpuppets

User:Ghirahim87 (Contributions) appears to have created additional accounts to create the illusion of consensus:

As far as I've seen, they've only edited on pages where consensus was against him. Can you look into this?KrytenKoro (talk) 22:36, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

this is slander, and i would like it stopped. i have no idea who ghirahim87 is or was, and i have no idea what sockpuppeting even is. i am sick of this, and i would like this stopped immediately. this is harassment. i simply noticed some of the latest edits were involving this ghirahim and a couple of others, and i noted i didn't think the other handled the situation any better than ghirahim did and that there are better ways to handle such situations. kryten has been guilty of harassing me ever since, accusing me i'm the same guy, and i quite frankly am sick of it. i'd like an admin to tell him to back off and start editing in good faith as i have been trying to. TheLink7 (talk) 01:47, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, KrytenKoro. We have handled it appropriately, and there will be no further discussion on the matter.Justin(Talk) 03:57, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
