Theories

Hi, Setras. I've noticed that you really like theorizing (I bet you came here from ZU's group of theorists), which is cool and all. I like theorizing myself. But you have to remember that we are an encyclopedia and we can't just have a ton of theories everywhere. The theories we do allow in articles must have a good deal of evidence to support them and must have received a decent amount of community support and acceptance. It seems you're placing your personal theories, which we don't allow at all. I would like to ask you to read our Quality Standards to get an idea of some of our rules and policies.

One more thing we need to discuss is your tendency to re-revert edits after a staff member has undone one of your revisions. If you feel that your edit has been reverted without sufficient reason, you can speak directly to the person on his or her talk page. However, any staff member will usually have a valid reason for reverting your changes. "Revert warring," the practice of repeatedly undoing changes, is highly frowned upon and can result in a temporary ban. It is best to talk things out instead of cluttering a page's history with reverts.

Just wanted to clear these things up for you so you can have a better idea of how things work around here. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask me. Happy editing!User:Justin/sig 18:56, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Hey

Hey there, Setras.

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for the continued effort you've been putting into Zelda Wiki these past few weeks. It's much appreciated and we hope you'll stick around. (Can't say I'm big on theorizing myself, but meh :P)

That said, there are a few things you should know. First of all, since most of your edits so far consist of theories, I highly encourage that you source the evidence supporting the theories whenever possible. Text dumps are an incredibly useful tool for this, as it puts all of the games' text right at your fingertips.

Also, please be careful about how you link to certain pages. Try to avoid linking to redirects if you can help it (see this edit, for example). We're especially strict about that when it comes to the games (see here), which is why we have these handy little shortcuts. For example, if you want to link to the Twilight Princess page, all you have to do is type {{TP}} and that'll generate the full proper pipe link: Twilight Princess.

So yeah, be sure to give the Quality Standards a good read if you haven't already. It's the surest way to get staff off your back. :P — Hylian King [*] 16:40, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Theory Stuff

Hey Setras :) How's it going? I just came to mention your new theory on the Wind Temple might cause it to be reverted, just watch what you edit in the way of theories. The policy on theories need them to be backed well by the community, but if it does get reverted throw it into the Talk Page and see if anyone agrees. You might know all this already but I'm going to revert your work myself because it's not my place. Good luck on your future edits. --Smighty 04:21, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Editing

Hey, again. I can tell you're definitely big on theories, and that's great. Like I said before, I theorize myself. But I just wanted to take the time to say that we've got a lot of other stuff that needs improvement, and I'd like to see you utilize your talents in those areas as well. Maybe take a break from the theories for a bit and try doing something else. We've got all kinds of things you could check out, most of which stem from this category. You're welcome to continue your theory editing, but I think you'd be a great asset if you were also utilizing your talents for other things. One area in particular that I believe you'd be good for is expanding stubbed pages. Stubs are pages which are short and lack a lot of the necessary information. They can be found in the stubs category. Give 'em a look and see if any of it interests you. All the best!User:Justin/sig 11:50, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Wiki Exclusives

I see you have an interest in writing a wiki exclusive article. I'm quite thrilled to see someone excited to do so, considering that it's been awhile since our last one. However, we have a process for wiki exclusives. You need to send it to an active staff member so we can discuss whether or not it meets our criteria for publishing. As such, I am required to delete the page you have created. If you have not saved it on your computer, just let me know and I can email you the full text of the article for you to keep. Don't let this discourage you, however! I'm not deleting it because it doesn't fit in, but rather because you did not follow our protocol for doing them. I encourage you to submit it to us for review and proper publishing!

And again, I cannot stress enough the fact that I am not deleting your work because it does not meet our wiki exclusive standards, but rather because you did not follow the proper protocol. I sincerely hope you will submit it for proper approval, and I hope that you will take an interest in writing more of them!

To submit the article for proper review, you can email it to any of the active staff members (myself included). If you'd like to send it to me, my email is jfolvarcik[at]gmail[dot]com.User:Justin/sig 11:01, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Probably should have read the rules on that first. Sorry! But yeah, if you wouldn't mind looking it over, I can send it to you. Thanks so much! Setras 14:19, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Theory

My objection is that it is not, in fact, a theory. It makes no claims and points at no evidence. It could be slimmed down to "Skyloft is similar to City in the Sky, maybe?" without losing any of the info.

I'm totally fine with an actual theory being put forward, something like "Due to its similarities, its thought that Skyloft could be the original form of the City in the Sky > Palace in the Sky" locales from other games, but as it is now...it's like the whipped cream of theories. It is 100% fluff, no content.KrytenKoro 18:18, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Congrats!

Hey Setras. I wanted to personally congratulate you on your successful Wiki Exclusive submission. It's well deserved! Your connections were insightful and thought provoking. It was a pleasure to read! — Hylian King [*] 20:45, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
