Multiple edits[]

Hello! I noticed you've been making a lot of edits to the same page over a short time. Doing this clutters the Recent Changes and the page histories, and makes patrolling more difficult for the Zelda Wiki staff. So instead of saving a lot, use the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button. It'll allow you to view your edit for any mistakes so you don't have to make a lot of fixing edits or additional ones! :) - Chuck * (Talk) 20:09, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Oh, yeah right sorry, the thing is I am currently reading a Prima Guide and adding sources, so whenever I find something relevant and added on here, I look for it and edit the section, add the source then save and proceed to continue reading. So that's why. Will try to prevent that from now on! Thanks for warning me ! :) MannedTooth (talk) 20:28, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
I would suggest to write down all the sources first and then add them to the relevant page once you're done with the guide. - Chuck * (Talk) 20:59, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

Mistakes in Zelda Material[]

Hey there, just wanted to give you a heads up that we have a page that's meant exclusively for mistakes in the series. We don't usually note errors on the main pages unless they're rather significant, so your edit about the Labrynna typo has been moved there. If you know of any other mistakes, that would be the place to put them. :) - TonyT S C 03:48, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Thanks! So is this edit alright? MannedTooth (talk) 04:02, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
Looks good to me. - TonyT S C 04:16, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
By the way, Zelda Wiki is written in an in-universe style, so please avoid using "the player". Try to describe things happening to or being done by "Link" whenever possible. - TonyT S C 07:42, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Source Placement[]

Hey there. Just for your information, citations are always supposed to be placed immediately after the next available pronunciation and not mid-sentence. I saw you had some confusion about the Shipyard Worker's citation, so I thought I would explain why that was there and not immediately following his name. - TonyT S C 04:33, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Oh, alright, I sent a message concerning that subject to Chuck. Thanks ! :) MannedTooth (talk) 04:38, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, I made a typo. Punctuation, not "pronunciation". - TonyT S C 04:41, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Uhm... This guide says that it's okay not to put it only after punctuation marks, not trying to argue. But what should we follow, this or what you said and thus we should remove this from the guide? MannedTooth (talk) 05:01, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Our guides are outdated and currently undergoing revision. Updates to it have not yet been published. - TonyT S C 05:08, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
Okay! :) MannedTooth (talk) 05:12, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Unnecessary sourcing[]

Hello. I just wanted to talk to you about the citations you've added to the wiki over the last month, specifically in regards to the game pages.

A lot of the citations you've added, namely those from the PH game guide, have been redundant and unnecessary. Generally, when we look to the game guides for sources, they are used to source information that is not commonly known (such as release dates or names of enemies or places). Information that is already widely known or obvious, such as game modes or save files, do not have to be sourced when the game is already released. Those things are already common knowledge. Further more, some of the citations you've added have not been consistent to the statement you were sourcing. For instance: you stated that the World of the Ocean King has sixteen islands, but the two sources from the PH guide did not explicably say there were sixteen. Unless the citation actually applies to the statement that is being sourced, it should not be added.

Adding sources for the release dates is quite handy, and we do appreciate that. But for everything else that is already well known, those do not. Please try to take greater care in adding sources. Thanks. - Midoro (T C) 20:17, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Hylian Decrytology[]

I am not sure if you are already aware, but we already have a dedicated page on TWW Hylian translations, found here. If you'd like to help out with translations, you can edit that. - Midoro (T C) 02:38, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh! I did not know! Thank you! :) Feel free to delete my page. :P MannedTooth (talk) 03:55, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Sandboxes[]

You may not edit another user's sandboxes without their express permission. Trainees' sandboxes are especially off limits as it is part of their training procedure, which is to be overseen by me. - TonyT S C 19:06, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh, I did not know that, sorry! :p MannedTooth (talk) 19:08, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Email[]

Please check your email. - TonyT S C 01:51, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

I need some admins to help me figure some stuff out![]

MannedTooth, I'm new to this and tonight there has been a lot of people adding stuff and changing my user talk page around. I see that you moved my bio to my user page and put everything else back. I want my talk page to be MY talk page and under my control. I've read https://zelda.gamepedia.com/Help:Talk_Pages and it says do not delete others comments or yours unless it's on your own talk page, which all of this is. So, please, help clarify. I don't even know if this is the appropriate way to reach out to you. There's an overwhelming amount of minutia that goes into this site. All I want to do is contribute how I can and be able to remove snarky comments that are 4 days over-due and were unnecessary at the time. So all I am seeing is that some joker that couldn't read a time stamp, brought up an issue 4 days old on my user talk page and the only thing that it is allowed to have is his comment? Please help me to understand because I'm a noob to wiki stuffs but this just seems outrageous. I see no where that says I can't modify my own user page or even delete material from it since it is mine. Isn't that what the archived history is for to see past edits so I don't have a constant reminder that someone can't read time-stamps as my first and only permissible text on MY talk page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmhurd (talk) 02:01, June 21, 2017‎

It's alright, we all have to start somewhere, and yes this is the correct way to contact a staff member. About talk pages, basically they are to remain untouched for archive purpose. (Like if you debate with someone over the way an article should be written, then you will keep a proof that you discussed it and chose an option over the other.) You are allowed to edit your comments to fix mistakes (such as typos). What the help page meant by deleting other's comments was that you can delete spam or offensive comments left on it (but it is better to contact staff directly so that we can ban the editor if needed) or archive your talk page if you want to clean it up. See talk:TriforceTony Tony's talk page for an example of archiving. Usually, you don't archive unless your page gets heavy, that means that you shouldn't do it right now. Lastly, the time between an event and a message doesn't matter, we admins often talk about things that happened weeks ago. All you can do about that is tell the other contributor that he misread the time stamp and politely explain why his message is irrelevant now. On the other hand, if someone spams or harasses you, feel free to contact staff before adding even more fuel on the fire.
Lastly, don't forget to sign your comments by writing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your message. Don't hesitate to contact me again if you need to. MannedTooth (talk) 03:01, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Alrighty. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. In this instance is there a way I can please clear my talk page or archive it as you say? I don't think the content of the posts merits any substance to anyone and is an eyesore for me haha.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmhurd (talk) 03:06, June 21, 2017‎
You'll eventually understand and become an experienced user if you keep using the platform, which I hope you will. As for your archiving question, unfortunately the answer is no, we can't allow you to create a talk page archive with a single thread in it just for your eyes comfort. If you get active on here, your talk page is bound to get filled eventually with comments, that's just how it is. Also, let me remind you to sign your comments with four tildes ( ~~~~ ). If you don't know how to type them, look down at the formatting links below, there it is, just click on it. MannedTooth (talk) 03:24, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
I don't mean to be argumentative, but telling me I'll eventually understand doesn't really clarify it for me. Can you point to a specific rule that prohibits me from deleting things from my talk page? "DO NOT write over anyone else's comments or delete comments unless they are on your own user talk" is very clear on https://zelda.gamepedia.com/Help:Talk_Pages not to delete others comments on other people's talk pages, but the "unless they are on your own user talk" is a pretty self explanatory: don't delete stuff from other people's pages, only yours. From what I can tell is that it is an unwritten rule that you guys go by to maintain a thorough record of history, but I can't find it actually spelled out in a rule. And if there is one, it is in contradiction to the broader statement made on the aforementioned help page. Yes, I edited the Key Items page and removed the Thunder Helm because I'd forgotten that it was a Key Item after defeating Master Kohga. The day I did that I was using the page as a reference to ensure I didn't miss any key items and wasn't thinking about that moment in the game and once it was undone by another user, and their summary of the edit reminded me, I backed off because I was wrong. Then 4 days later some Sassy Sue Smart Pants comes to my page to chastise me and I'm not allowed to take that down just doesn't sit well with me. To be chastised at all after the fact is frustrating enough, but for me to have to wear a scarlet letter is mind-boggling. Considering that I (erroneously--like I said, still learning) replied to him on his page, and he got to delete my comment from his page, so I'm seeing some double standards in this rule that I can't find. Could you please point me to the written rule that you're resting your decision to not let me simply erase it from MY talk page? And if you can't find it to just let it slide and let me delete this crap off my page (it's a few sentences..), and if it must be filled before it can be archived, can I just start typing my memoir and theories about the missing pieces or a bunch of Lorem Ipsum until it's full enough? Because this whole experience has been very off-putting. Arbitrary rules that are haphazardly enforced where I'm the one getting the brunt of all of it--all the hope in the world that I'd want to continue contributing won't sweeten that sour mess. Jmhurd (talk) 04:11, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
My talk page has dumb old stuff on it too, so does Manned's. But really, why care? It's just a talk page. The reason why BlackDragon deleted it from his own talk page was because we prefer to keep discussions on one talk page and you had replied to him in his own page. It might've been a mistake on his end to talk page you for the Thunder Helm edits, but you'd have to wait for his explanation on it. In the end really, talk pages are just kinda "there" and don't have the same freedom as your user page. And yeah, if you wanted to write a bio, it should go on your user page, so I'm a bit confused why you removed it afterwards. I do see what you mean about the Help page being contradictory but then again it was written in 2008 and never really modified further. I'll see about updating it to be a bit more clearer. --PPLToast (talk) 09:23, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

OoS[]

Hi, MannedTooth

I noticed in some articles that the title "Oracle of Ages" was either duplicated or wrong placed, so I went to check the template OoS and then saw this edit
So, why did you replace Seasons for Ages in the template? Was it a test, a needed change, or a mistake?
This (first paragraph) and this (table) are good examples

I guess you just mistaked that template with this one or forgot to replace the name, haha
Sorry if I'm wrong, anyway!

Have a nice day. Wizdeck (talk) 16:13, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing this out. I'm a little surprised that no one else had spotted or said anything about this until now. That is almost definitely a mistake so I have corrected it now. User:Link Lab/sig 16:36, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Oh my, I made a mistake. Thank you for noticing and telling me, and also thank you Link Lab for fixing it. :s MannedTooth (talk) 16:56, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Link Lab! I didn't edit it myself because I didn't want to mess up the template, just in case.
And don't worry, MannedTooth, we all make mistakes. I'm glad I helped.
Wizdeck (talk) 18:38, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Goddesses[]

In that case, Din, Nayru, and Farore are called the Deities of Power, Wisdom, and Courage respectively through text in Ocarina of Time. Would that work as a better title? PowerMasterAlex (talk) 18:56, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Can you get me the exact quote? MannedTooth (talk) 19:54, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
Referenced on Din's page: "Aeons ago, the Deities of Power, Courage, and Wisdom descended to the world of chaos. They created the world that we know and left behind a symbol of their strength, the golden emblem known as the Triforce, which they hid in the Golden Land." I messed up, though, this is actually from A Link to the Past's manual. The Ocarina of Time quote could still work, though improperly: "Before time began, before spirits and life existed... Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule... Din, the goddess of power... Nayru, the goddess of wisdom... Farore, the goddess of courage...[...] Din... With her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth." — Great Deku Tree. Still a title. PowerMasterAlex (talk) 20:26, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
Oh my, sorry for not answering earlier. Long story short, the first terms would work, not the second ones since they do not respect our term policy. A term must be either capitalized or colored. Don't hesitate if you've got any more questions. :) MannedTooth (talk) 00:54, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Breath of the Wild text dump[]

Hello. I see that you have created a page which contains part of the text in Breath of the Wild. Do you have in your possession the text dump for the game? I did some search in google but I didn't find anything. Zeldafan1982 (talk) 22:41, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Hey there, sorry for the late reply. You can find it here. MannedTooth (talk) 20:26, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

Cadence of Hyrule main page tile[]

Why is File:CoH Tile.png locked? I made a 230×125 tile from the icon artwork which I believe is much better than the current, which I believe is from a trailer screenshot. rjd1922 (talk) 04:15, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Hey there, the file is locked because it is part of the files that affect the main page. Surely you can understand why we wouldn't want just anyone to have access to that. If you believe you've got a more appealing tile image to replace it with, feel free to upload it under another name and link it to me or simply join our Discord server where we can discuss it. Thanks! MannedTooth (talk) 20:41, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Why not import directly from the Fandom wiki?[]

A great many number of the pages there are of objectively superior quality to the ones presently existing here. The nav box on the bottom would be quite useful Kenjiillumni (talk) 06:47, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

The immediate concern is licensing/legal attribution, etc. We would have to ensure that we are handling any imports within the boundaries of our GNU FDL license and the license that Zeldapedia uses.
The other concern would be that Zeldapedia and Zelda Wiki have very different practices and sensibilities. Though you might find the articles on Zeldapedia to be superior, they don't follow our editing standards. The articles simply will not translate directly to Zelda Wiki's guidelines.
Instead of directly copying any articles, you can attempt to relate what the articles on Zeldapedia contain to Zelda Wiki's standards. I'm afraid that if you continue to copy articles and templates from Zeldapedia, we will be forced to undo your work. TriforceTony (talk) 18:11, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Why is linking to external sources banned and how is that of any benefit to users?[]

"We do not link to external website outside of partners and Wikipedia" why? What possible reason could there be for this when there is so much good data available off site that users would benefit from? (Кэне_零三) 12:56, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi. First of all, because we would rather have that information be hosted here instead of elsewhere. Also, external websites aren't always trustworthy, this is why we only link to approved websites such as other Gamepedia/Fandom wikis and Wikipedia itself. What is the information you wanted to link to? I'm sure we can find a way to host it ourselves if it's relevant to the Zelda series. MannedTooth (talk) 01:24, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
A map of the Lynel locations in BOTW. While we can host it here, I am not the content creator and there fore cannot upload it. Which is why sending an external link to an image that is EXTREMELY RELEVANT to the Zelda wiki's goal would be preferable. (Кэне_零三 09:11, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
If you want to link to a map, you can always link to Zelda Maps which is a website developed by folks at Zelda Universe. It does allow to check only for Lynels. MannedTooth (talk) 20:11, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Wanna talk about my octorok change[]

So I get that I shouldn't just use the Oos filename but the sprites look exactly the same, can I just copy over the sprite in the oos file to the ooa file? Cuz I mean they're the same sprite. This should honestly go with most enemies in both of those games that have an image for one of them but not the other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbobb25 (talk) 20:05, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, first of all: thank you for contributing on Zelda Wiki, it's super appreciated! As for the files, we should only use files respective to their own game in the infoboxes, though file redirects are a thing (as you can see, I redirected them both to the LADX sprite since that's the same one). So everything works the same, but for standardization, we should use OoS for OoS and OoA for OoA. Always. Lastly, I'd like to invite you to join the Discord server where we can discuss those issues in real time. Oh, and also don't forget to sign your talk page messages with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks again! :) MannedTooth (talk) 20:10, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Octoballoons[]

has it been confirmed that the octoballoon in the palace of the four swords and the octoroks behave differently or is it simply because of the dungeon design having an effect on the enemy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chaosprime8 (talk) 09:01, 21 May 2020

Hey there. I'm not sure whether this is a confirmed thing or not, but you can't just remove content that says they have different behavior without verifying this yourself and providing a source. MannedTooth (talk) 17:03, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Mistakenly(?) renamed file and TWW figurine issue[]

Why did you move File:ALttP Anti-Fairy Sprite.png to File:ALttP Anti-Fairies Sprite.png? I assume this was a mistake because all other file names use the singular form for enemies.

There's also a problem with the figurines table regarding Figurines in The Wind Waker that share the same name. This effects the two types of Darknuts, and means that The Wind Waker's section on Wizzrobe has the figurine for Wizzrobe (Boss).

I realized when making this that the "New Section" button on user talk pages doesn't work. rjd1922 (talk) 02:26, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, for the filename, according to Encyclopedia, the singular name for Bubbles in ALttP, LA/DX, OoS, and OoA is indeed "Anti-Fairies". (page 169)
As for the figurines sharing the same name, this is a known issue which we don't currently have a solution for at this very moment. Thank you for those heads up though! :) MannedTooth (talk) 17:48, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
How do you know the Encyclopedia says that "Anti-Fairies" is the singular name? What's the context in which the term is used? And why can't you just rename the Wizzrobe miniboss figurine to "Wizzrobe (Boss)" in the table? rjd1922 (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
In its enemy database, Encyclopedia uses the singular form of enemy names everywhere, yet they still used "Anti-Fairies" as the name for this enemy in those games. So this has to be the name we use. For the Wizzrobe, it's not that easy, there's code behind it that needs to be updated and it's probably on the backburner for now. MannedTooth (talk) 16:42, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Template:Zelda[]

can you update the page link to the Tears of the Kingdom? It is protected. SeichanGrey (talk) 15:07, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

Fork Announcement[]

Heya Manned,

As discussed on Discord here is the fork announcement we would like posted on the Main Page. We hope you will leave the announcement up for two full weeks from the time you post it. This seems like the most literal interpretation of the forking policy which does not explicitly mandate a start time nor an expiry for that two-week period.

This is an opportunity for us to start off our inter-wiki relationship on the right foot. In that vein, please let us know if there's something you'd like us to change on the fork site.

Business aside, I hope we end up working together again, and that we can still be friends. PhantomCaleb (talk) 18:16, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

Hey!
Thanks for reaching out and letting me know that your notice was ready, I've set it up! Unfortunately, the two weeks mentioned in the policy are starting from the day of the fork, which would be up to November 2nd. Despite this, I've already discussed it beforehand with your community and promised you a timeframe up to November 7th, so I talked about it thoroughly with Fandom and convinced them to stretch the policy to accommodate the promise I made since you're a special wiki to me. Consider this a favor from both me and Fandom.
I wish you luck on your new projects! May our paths cross again! MannedTooth (talk) 18:34, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick turnaround on putting up the announcement!
If the Forking Policy page had been clear on that point from the start, we could have avoided a lot of the conflict that happened last week. Who can we talk to at Fandom about updating the policy page to explicitly say "two weeks starting from the day of the fork", so that other communities don't have this problem in the future? PhantomCaleb (talk) 20:22, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
You're welcome!
That policy is not something I can edit myself, it's up to higher-ups at Fandom to do the rewording. That said, I've already talked about it with them and I'm sure it'll get done eventually. Just a matter of time! MannedTooth (talk) 15:57, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

W:c links don't work[]

Following the announcement of the fork I've wanted to change some of the links to local Fandom communities (see Goomba article) so that we can all be one family, though for some reason it doesn't work. Do you know how to fix this? Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 21:25, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia links (w:) are also broken Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 21:27, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
Hey there, since this wiki is historically a Gamepedia Wiki, the interwiki links do not work like on other Fandom wikis. You can see the full list here. For the Mario Wiki it seems like you should be using [[mariowiki:Goomba]]. If you notice another wiki that is missing, let me know so that I can add it.
I also noticed that there are currently two different interwiki link leading to the Mario Wiki. We might want to only use one of them and get rid of the other to standardize the usages. MannedTooth (talk) 16:34, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
That's good to know about the interwiki links. Well, smashwiki is kind of deceptive seeing as the Fandom wiki is, well, Smashpedia, so perhaps we can use smashbros:? The ssb: interwiki needs text replacement.
Also, are you okay with the edits I've been doing? Sorry if a couple of them seem like a stretch (e.g. me removing some usage of the Term template). That was something that the original community used, and I think there can be a fresh start here with a new community and provide a more user-friendly experience. Also, the w: needs replacement with wikipedia:, and I'm struggling to update Template:Wp to reflect that change, so if you can help me with that I'd appreciate it thank you.
Hope you don't mind me asking, but do you miss the old community? I hope you're doing okay. Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 17:18, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
Well, I can change the interwiki link of the Smash Bros Wiki to anything that would please the community, but its current usage is still used, so I can't exactly just delete it yet. We would need to replace all instances of it with a new interwiki link to transfer it to. As for your edits, since the fork I haven't really been keeping a close eye to content-related edits, I've more taken a passive role as the Wiki Rep that can help the community with any issue or tech requests they might have. I've retired from being an admin on Zelda Wiki. As for the removal of the Term template, well, I would recommend consulting the community and vote on whether to keep or remove it before you go and start changing something that has been used wiki-wide for years now. I also just fixed the Wikipedia issue. I really think it's a shame that the old community left, but I'm not dwelling over it, they did what they thought was right for them, I can't blame them. MannedTooth (talk) 17:03, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
Hopefully some day we can find new staff members. My activity tends to be sporadic, and I have several other things I need to do right now. Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 18:42, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

A message, as requested[]

Hey, Tooth. I just realized I never got around to doing this, but you wanted me to let you know which account I wanted added to staff. This one would be my preferred, thanks. SpoilerGoblin (talk) 07:12, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

Done! :) MannedTooth (talk) 18:57, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Page Deletion Request[]

Can you please delete this spam page? It’s nothing Zelda related and the creator’s name is in that title: W:c:zelda-archive:User:Champion_Kai? - Arctic Vixen Star Gamer

Done ! MannedTooth (talk) 18:56, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

There are some of these pages too and the users that made them are treating creation of pages like forums, if you look at the page history.
Conspiracies - Zelda Wiki (fandom.com)
Ocarina of Time 3D Translations - Zelda Wiki (fandom.com)

And I have a question, are the ACB and the USK pages even necessary?
USK - Zelda Wiki (fandom.com)
ACB - Zelda Wiki (fandom.com)

There you go! I deleted those two pages you mentioned. In the future, I would recommend reaching out to an admin of this wiki (unless they're unresponsive) to deal with that sort of easy tasks. As for the two other pages you asked about, it all depends on whether the community thinks they're needed on here or not. There's several pages linking to them. MannedTooth (talk) 18:20, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

Link's Awakening Switch Enemy Models[]

Hey, it's been some time since we talked, but it's been nearly 4 years since the Switch remake for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening came out and I just found the full body image for Giant Ghini, but it, along with the Red and Green Zols, Gel, Sword Stalfos, the Spiny Beetles with their grass and rock coverings, and Pincers could have their models ready? Made a Discord topic bout it (https://discord.com/channels/1032618523278708776/1071964964820107345), since they should have their fair share instead of staying on the back burner.Macdawg (talk) 02:15, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey there. I would recommend taking this request to a Zelda Wiki staff, either or on the Discord. Altenatively, you can start working on that yourself. :) MannedTooth (talk) 18:34, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Crossover template[]

Hi MannedTooth, mind if I create a Crossover template for instances of The Legend of Zelda in other media? For example, Mario Kart 8 would have it and display a notice stating that it has to only pertain to the Zelda games. I've already created one for MarioWiki, Pokemon Wiki, and AC Wiki, and was wondering if I could do the same for here. Best regards, Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 02:57, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Although I did find the exitstub-nintendo template, which I used for the Mario article here. I linked to the MarioWiki on Fandom for more information. Kirby Wiki received their own article on Mario not too long ago, so I figured he could also receive one on this wiki. Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 19:30, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
I would recommend taking this up to a Zelda Wiki staff! You can find them on the Discord server or on their talk page. I can't decide what the community wants on their behalf. But I see no direct issues with this! :) MannedTooth (talk) 23:51, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Where's their talk page? There's no active staff members here aside from you Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 04:01, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Right here! :) MannedTooth (talk) 05:04, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Okay, I've sent him a message Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 10:56, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Recruitment[]

Does one have to be on Discord in order to be recruited? I'm not on Discord & don't plan on joining it. At most, I could be a content mod here to clean up the broken structure of the wiki; I recently became one on the MarioWiki on Fandom. Hoping I can unite this wiki with MarioWiki, which has been skyrocketing as of late. I'm not up for administrative and bureaucrat duties because content is the main thing that I'm versed in (someone suggested I become content mod on the Fandom MarioWiki, which I've since gathered over 4,000 edits on & created over 600 articles on it in past month or so). Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 02:20, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

It all depends on the community's requirements, some will prefer you to use Discord, and some won't. That can't be forced unto you, but it makes communication easier for the admin team. Feel free to reach out to SpoilerGoblin and ask whether there's an opening for a new admin (spoiler: there is!) Once they approve of your request, you can be given the admin role and start collaborating with them via your talk pages ! MannedTooth (talk) 14:39, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Do you want to notify him on Discord (assuming he's there)? Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 18:06, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Done! :) MannedTooth (talk) 21:44, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your help (and smiles :) ). Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 23:22, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
It been nearly a week, are there any updates on this? Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 14:06, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
Pinged them again! Feel free to join the Discord server yourself! MannedTooth (talk) 19:28, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Are the Golden Goddesses fairies?[]

I ask because someone changed the wording on their pages to refer to them as fairies instead of deities and/or goddesses. Is that accurate? https://zelda.fandom.com/wiki/UserProfile:Stargazing_nyctophiliac

I'm pretty sure that is inaccurate. MannedTooth (talk) 03:17, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

Then could you please revert said edits? Would do it myself but don't have rollback access. Stargazing nyctophilliac

Hey there! You don't need rollback rights to undo an edit. If anything, you can still edit and replace the information with the old one. MannedTooth (talk) 22:50, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm aware of that, but these are multiple edits on the same pages, that said I'll take care of it. Stargazing nyctophiliac

distinction[]

I think i've said before how i'm a content moderator of the MarioWiki on fandom. There is a lack of a community on this Fandom wiki, although I would note that I think the styling of the wiki can be done similar to the MarioWiki on Fandom (if you take a look at all of these edits, for example). I will note that I'm inexperienced at designing modern templates, however (only older ones), so I meant more the layout of the articles themselves. Mumbo Jumbo II (talk) 15:09, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Feel free to reach out to local admins and discuss your plans with them either on their talk page or on the Zelda Wiki Discord server! :) MannedTooth (talk) 15:08, 26 March 2023 (UTC)

File Deletion[]

Hello, could you delete this file? https://zelda.fandom.com/wiki/File:Delete.png Someone thought themselves really funny.VictorV111 (talk) 10:19, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

Done ! :) MannedTooth (talk) 21:33, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Help with infoboxes[]

Hello, I've created a page for the character Mastro and the image I uploaded of him isn't showing in the infobox. I can't seem to fix this and I'm wondering if you could help out. Thanks.

Hi I’m new to Gamepedia[]

Hi I’m new to Gamepedia and I tried the Sandbox and I noticed that regular HTML and CSS doesn’t work in this wiki. Can you explain why? Also tell me some stuff that I should know about this wiki and Gamepedia in general? I never edited on this kind of wikis (idk how I got a notification saying that I visited this wiki- but I decided I’ll join the wiki anyway :) but I was editing on Fandom for several years now. Thanks!! Hopefully this still works: ~ Kitty ~ 19:02, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Flame Gleeok Nomenclature[]

Hey there. I'd like to add like two languages to the Flame Gleeok page using the standard Nonmenclature template. Unfortunately, there are no active attributes I can copy from the template from other pages such as its parent Gleeok article to use the Nomenclature template. The footnote says I have to contact an admin to add one, along with providing references to them.

So here are some of the few names, along with references:

If there is a way I could add them myself, then I don't mind the extra work. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 14:32, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Never mind. I found another way. ---TacticalMaster (talk) 09:24, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

MarioWiki[]

Hello MannedTooth, it's been a bit of a while. I hope you don't mind but I added a link (excuse the pun) to the MarioWiki page. The MarioWiki has been behind for several years, but me and a few others have been breathing fresh life into it, and that includes the Link article there. Hope you're okay with this, or even the Aquamentus page I did there. Gematarix (talk) 14:14, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Sorry for the delay! That is totally fine and even appreciated to link between multiple Fandom wikis! :) MannedTooth (talk) 20:43, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

Adminship[]

Hi MannedTooth, I see that there are no currently active admins here and I'm interested in taking the position. I have a lot of experience as an admin, having formerly been a Wiki Manager myself, and though I have not edited as much here I was quite active on the old Zeldapedia which is now relegated to an archive. Neffyarious (talk) 17:01, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Thank you for your interest in becoming a staff for Zelda Wiki! I would recommend reaching out to an active staff member either through their talk page here or directly on the Discord server! :) MannedTooth (talk) 20:47, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

User report[]

Artimari is vandalizing pages, such as claiming Ganon is gay.

Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 03:14, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up! I've went ahead and banned them for 2 weeks, as per the rules policy! Happy editing! :) MannedTooth (talk) 12:55, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
No problem, thanks for dealing with this. :)

Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 13:04, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Edit War on Misko[]

Hello, if you're still here, can you deal with the edit warring issue on the Misko page? In short: This character's identity is unknown and its race nor gender can't be determined at all. The user AmayaNyx, is too adamant to setting their gender to "Non-Binary" without any citation or reason to it (their summaries are empty). Nick O'Demus is also hopping in 2-to-1, but to no avail. Could you please deal with the issue? Thanks.

(PS: Speaking of cite, I noticed that all genders from character pages on this wiki are cited. That is a guideline, right?) ---TacticalMaster (talk) 15:23, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

User report[]

Wormadile vandalized the Light Dragon's page. Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 12:48, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Thank you for the heads up! The edit has since been undone (you can undo edits yourself if you want to help directly!) Since it's only a single occurrence, I won't ban them, but if it happens again, I'll be able to block them! :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 17:29, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

Thank you, would have undone it myself but was already undone by someone else. Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 18:06, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

SussyGamer6984 is vandalizing pages by replacing content with "I had sex with Zelda". Sometimes the good we think we see in some people is just a reflection of our own. (talk) 06:05, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Vandal report[]

Hi. I noticed that a user, SussyGamer6984, had been vandalizing the wiki. Could you please block them? ReadySettySpaghetti (talk) 22:03, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Already reported them. Sometimes the good we think we see in some people is just a reflection of our own. (talk) 22:44, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks. I didn't see that, sorry. ReadySettySpaghetti (talk) 23:54, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for reaching out to me! I went ahead and blocked them accross Fandom. From what I can see, the vandalism was already dealt with? Good job! :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 00:41, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Indefinitely? Sometimes the good we think we see in some people is just a reflection of our own. (talk) 00:49, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Yes, we do not need such a user on Fandom. :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 01:40, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Agreed, if all their gonna do is vandalize wikis Fandom is better off without them. Thanks for dealing with this. Also would recommend removing the contents of their user page, it literally says "I FUCKING HATE ZELDA GAMES EVERY FAN SHOULD GET RAPED". Not something we should have anywhere on this wiki. Sometimes the good we think we see in some people is just a reflection of our own. (talk) 01:43, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Good point! Done! :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 02:02, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Thank you!

Sometimes the good we think we see in some people is just a reflection of our own. (talk) 02:05, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

As a heads up, your signature is very confusing. I'd suggest you change it to be only your name and not a whole sentence. MannedTooth (Discussion) 17:19, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Just my username then? As demonstrated below. Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 18:01, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
That's better! :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 18:13, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
More vandalism EEEdiot.

Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 02:28, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Seems like they've been blocked since! :) I'd suggest you join the Discord server of this wiki and tell admins when new cases of vandalism arise! Would be way quicker to react this way :D MannedTooth (Discussion) 17:52, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion, will do. Stargazing nyctophiliac (talk) 21:11, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Dfrenzel keeps edit-warring on the Farosh article over its gender. They keep insisting that it's a "fact" that it's male, and despite being shown dialogue from Tears of the Kingdom that says otherwise, they insist that the game is lying (see their comments on their talk page and mine). It's clear at this point that this isn't just a misunderstanding and that they're deliberately trolling. Nick O'Demus (talk)

Pending deletion[]

There's an increased number of things pending for deletion in this page. Just wanted to make you aware. I could volunteer to help clean up the wiki, just as I did on the Mario Wiki (which now has over 15,000 articles). Gematarix (talk) 12:43, 17 December 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Thanks for bringing this up and wanting to help. Did you bring this up with the admin team yet? I would recommend joining the Zelda Wiki discord to coordinate the efforts. :) MannedTooth (Discussion) 06:04, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
I think so Gematarix (talk) 03:03, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Update[]

You're probably aware of this, but I'm now a content mod. I've cleaned up the spam, reformatted articles, and have been trying to make this wiki become more distinct from other Zelda wikis. For one, I gave minor crossover characters like Luigi and Yoshi their own articles and made a Mario franchise article discussing its close connections to The Legend of Zelda. WarioWare connections to The Legend of Zelda have also been expanded upon. More articles with lots of blank sections have been filled in, like the Compass page desperately needed that help.

Also, I noticed you bring up Discord a lot in my earlier messages, and I wanted to ask if you could respect my decision to use talk pages instead, as I seldomly use social platforms. Gematarix (talk) 16:30, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

You have no obligations to join the Discord server. I'm only mentioning it to you since it's by far the easiest way to communicate with the rest of the admin team (which I am NOT part of). I am simply the Wiki Representative, anything content-related has to go over these folks. Otherwise, good job on those articles, keep it up! :D MannedTooth (Discussion) 17:29, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you, it means a lot that you appreciate my efforts and that it puts a smile on your face. :) I suppose I mentioned content to you because other than you being a wiki representative, I think you've had a past editing Zelda-related content here, whilst some other wiki representatives aren't necessarily well versed in the wikis they represent, if I'm not mistaken. Gematarix (talk) 17:34, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken I am still the #1 editor if you check the leaderboards. I do know my way around the wiki, but I've stepped down as an admin to only be its Wiki Rep. MannedTooth (Discussion) 19:18, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Not sure if I told you before, but I made it to #1 on the MarioWiki. It really burnt me out adding like literally over 4,500 articles with help from other editors last year alone. Moviesign even offered me to become a Fandom Star from all that hard work. Gematarix (talk) 19:29, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Infobox title color[]

Seems like a wiki rep question, but is there a way to fix the text color of the infobox title so that it shows as black on light mode and white on dark mode? It's currently reversed. As an example the Magic Jar article shows "Magic Jar" heading in the infobox as white in light mode and black text in dark mode when it should be the other way around for visual aid. Gematarix (talk) 15:27, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

That text is automatically determined to be either black or white depending on the best contrasting color. The label color can be changed in the Theme Designer. MannedTooth (Discussion) 19:57, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure content mods don't have access to the theme designer. Gematarix (talk) 22:29, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
You would need to reach out to your local admins and ask them to change the color according to what the community wants. MannedTooth (Discussion) 23:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

"upstream request timeout"[]

This wiki has been suffering from lots of those messages lately. Is there a way to solve this issue? Is it a server issue? Gematarix (talk) 13:20, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

It probably is, but unfortunately, Tooth isn't the person who can help us with that any more, as their role as Fandom Representative has been handed off to someone else. I still don't know who that someone else will be, so we're kind of in a weird in-between place where we have nobody to really talk to. I'll handle this as soon as I learn who will be replacing Tooth.
