Trill refers to two characters in The Legend of Zelda series.[2][3]
Biography
Twilight Princess
Trill is an intelligent Myna who operates his Shop near the Forest Temple.[1] Nearby Bokoblins must be defeated before Link can use the shop. If Link takes an item and leaves without paying Trill, the latter will peck Link until he pays. If Link pays less than the cost of the item, Trill calls Link a cheapskate,[4] while paying more than the amount required causes Trill to call him a generous young man.[5] He will call Link stingy every time Link returns if he pays less than he is supposed to for an item.[6] If Link steals from his store and talks to Trill as Wolf Link, he reveals that his master got mad at him for it. As a result, he puts water in the Lantern Oil urn out of frustration.[7] This does not effect the potency of the Oil.
Other Appearances
Cadence of Hyrule
Trill is a Fairy that greets Cadence when she is transported to Kingdom of Hyrule.[3] Trill offers advice for overcoming certain puzzles and situations. When Cadence awakens either Link or Zelda with a piece of the Triforce, Trill thanks her and states the they will stay with them in order to apprise them of what has befallen the kingdom.[8]
Trivia
- In Twilight Princess, Trill will attack Bokoblins if they come too close to him and will thank Link if he defeats them for him.[9]
Nomenclature
Trill's name may be derived from trill, a musical ornament.
