Reward Access to Kam Urog Shrine

"The Cursed Statue" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.

Overview

Link obtains the Quest by speaking to Calip at Fort Hateno and indulging his request to be called "Doctor."[1] Upon doing so, Calip will happily share some of his notes to Link by quoting a passage from An Ancient Text,[2] a book that he is using to research the ruins near Fort Hateno. This begins the Quest, directing Link to the site of his fieldwork.

At the site, the eyes from one of the statues will begin to glow starting at 9:00 PM. If Link shoots its face with an Arrow, it will cause Kam Urog Shrine to rise from the ground. This completes the Quest, allowing Link entry into the Ancient Shrine.

Objectives

Stage Description
1 "When a dark light resides in the cursed statue's eyes, pierce its gaze to purge the seal from the shrine."

You heard this from Calip, the self-proclaimed archaeologist. Solving the ancient song's riddle will reveal the hidden shrine.
Complete "When a dark light resides in the cursed statue's eyes, pierce its gaze to purge the seal from the shrine."

You fired an arrow into the glowing eyes of the statue, and the ancient shrine was revealed.

  2. "Doctor...
Did I...just hear you call me doctor? As in, not merely Calip, but DOCTOR Calip? It rolled off your tongue so naturally. It was downright salivary! Hrm... This changes things... Very well then! I'm feeling charitable, so I'll let a few things spill. This is just between us, understand. "When a dark light resides in the cursed statue's eyes, pierce its gaze to purge the seal from the shrine." I'm still in the process of deciphering that one, so I don't suppose there's any harm in sharing it with you.
