Suitability[]
OK, I'm not too happy with this template. It's already what I'd class as too big (in terms of physical size and content), and with 384 pages in the Items category, there's easily dozens more which could potentially be added. In general, we've always tended to steer clear of these large, cluttered templates and in the past they've normally been deleted. My only suggestion would be to split this by game, but then we'd have lots of templates with overlapping content, which would duplicate what's already covered in the items/equipment listings for each game. So overall, I don't think we need this. Opinions? —Adam [ talk ] 20:51, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Frankly, I sorta agree. It's just way too big. But you know, we could always make it smaller, and just include some of the more 'major' items, such as the dungeon items, instead. Or we could do what some other wikis use, one of those 'click here to show or hide template' things. The Goron Moron 21:09, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if you spent a lot of time making this; as a suggestion, try talking about stuff like this before doing it. That way, you'll avoid wasting time in future. Anyway, go ahead and improve it however you can, then we can look at it again. I just wanted to point out the problems before this got used everywhere and created even more work. —Adam [ talk ] 12:51, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- It seems like you sorta missed my point a little. Let's look at the "Bottle Items" section. You've picked 10 items there (not counting the doubled-up Poe entry), out of the 28 articles in Category:Bottle Items. So we either choose to have the template a reasonable size but incomplete (how do we pick and choose which items go in?), or an exhaustive list which is far too big. One option would be to split this section out and make a bottle items template, with all 28 pages on it. Then add that to every one of the pages. But that also seems quite pointless, since there's already a direct link to the Bottle Items category on each of the pages which serves an almost identical purpose. What I'm getting at here, is that I don't think you've thought through the overall feasibility and usefulness of a template like this. I'm not necessarily saying it could never work, just that I'm not seeing a solution to these problems. —Adam [ talk ] 17:47, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- The hearts just seem to be a bit much, do we really need them? Besides that, the template does look a little better now. The Goron Moron 17:54, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Do you mean the images? I dunno. I could convert this into purely pickups, since there's a lot less of those...
Whaddya think?—Justin(Talk) 17:55, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I was sorta about to ask something about it. The template just seems to list common items from nearly all of the Zelda games, and not from LoZ itself. The Goron Moron 17:57, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
