Race

Why is Ravio's race specified as Hylian? He's Link's counterpart from Lorule so I would've thought he's either Lorulan (as an equivalent of Hylian) or Lorulean (as an equivalent of Hyrulean). I am making up those race names myself, but they were what made most sense to me.~.:NasiDe:.~ 09:50, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Spoilers

I think there needs to be a spoiler alert on this page. The image revealing how Ravio appears beneath his mask is extremely easy to run into by accident.~.:NasiDe:.~ 09:51, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

This entire wiki is a spoiler. Nearly every article will spoil something in someway. We do not use the spoiler template anymore. Champion of Nayru (talk) 19:38, 27 November 2013 (UTC)Champion of Nayru

Sprite art

Could we get the sales art of Ravio using each of the weapons, and the Ravio variations of each weapon?KrytenKoro (talk) 20:41, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Majora's Mask

Is there any possibility of a connection between Ravio and the Happy Mask Salesman? I mean Link just had Majora's Mask framed up on his wall in his home (beginning of the game) as if it were just some decoration. Perhaps Link didn't realize its full potential, yet Ravio did because he set up his shop in the same home the mask was... What if he took it? Ravio also bears a similar resemblance in both clothing color and fashion to the Happy Mask Salesman and both are characters from a parallel universe. If not the Happy Mask Salesman himself, maybe Ravio is him in a different timeline. I really haven't played Majora's Mask recently enough to qualify this as reasonable, but either way it's an interesting idea. Can someone help me shed some light on this, someone with more MM experience? Lewtrah (talk) 08:00, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

  • Nope. Ravio is an alternate Link and does not look anything like the Happy Mask Salesman, they have no similarities other than being salesmen - with a slightly similar colour scheme - and even then they sell completely different things. The Mask Salesman is not from another dimension, he is shown to originate in Hyrule. And Ravio does not interact with Majora's Mask any more than Link does in-game, the reason that Ravio set up shop in Link's house is because he knew that Link could be relied upon as a hero. So no connection.--LordM (talk) 13:37, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Ravio's Name

There's a parallel between the names Zelda and Hilda. Zelda means "woman warrior" and Hilda means "battle." So I was wondering if there was a parallel between Link and Ravio. I was unable to find anything, but I did come across a strange coincidence when looking up the alternate version of his name "Lavio". In northern Spain, Lavio is one of 28 parishes in Salas, a municipality within Asturias. It's shaped like a bunny[1]. MicManGuy (talk) 19:47, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Redundancy

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who sees how utterly redundant that citation makes this article. Is that strictly necessary, or can we do something about that? Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 20:01, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

I just updated the page. I would rather have the citation than the full text as part of the main body of the article. - Chuck * (Talk) 20:17, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Actually I have to disagree. I think having the full text in a Quote section would be beneficial for the article. It's pretty lacking on its own. - Midoro (T C) 01:10, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

From what I understand, the rules of the wiki demand that the citation has to be there. As such, the summarized version as it stands is a much better option. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 04:37, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

It's not absolutely imperative that we provide this citation if it's present in a section, but it wouldn't hurt to keep it. I suggest we have both, frankly. Perhaps it's a bit redundant, but we can present it in a manner that wouldn't be quite so. - TonyT S C 05:46, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Can we use a quotebox, then use a normal quoteless citation? As done here, either the Illuminatus version with reflist cite, or the "The Old Ones" version with in-text cite.KrytenKoro (talk) 14:36, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

The problem is, though, there's just so little to do with this thing that having the contents both as a quote in the body of the article and as a citation makes it just about impossible to not have them on screen at the same time. I honestly see nothing wrong with the page as it stands. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 05:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

If nothing else, the citation lacks the line breaks present in the original. However, does this really need to be separate from Ravio's article anyway? The main importance of the item is to give insight into his mind and history, not as an object in its own right.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:18, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

There is truth to that. If this item is deemed unfit to be its own article, then perhaps we can have its contents as both quotation and citation upon Ravio's article. Now, what's the coding for that template... Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 17:37, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

I'd like to point out that I feel like we're forgetting the readers here. Certainly it's great to have the passage documented within a citation, but it's more important to the reader that the information is present and readable. I don't object to moving it to Ravio's page (primarily because it's a conjectural title, I'd feel differently if that weren't the case). However, with it being present on Ravio's page, I feel it's even more important to present it with the Quote template (in addition to the citation). - TonyT S C 18:26, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Ugh. I'm gonna sound like a moron (no offense, Goron), but I haven't been wiki-ing proper for a long time. Does the quote template support multiple lines? If we are going to have it as both content and citation, I feel one of them has to be line-broken as displayed in-game. Or at least broken for each "χ Days to Go" entry. Otherwise, I suppose we could manage it by having a different quotation as each "χ Days to Go" entry and have them spaced throughout Ravio's article. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 19:39, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Take a look:
Quote1.png 3 Days to Go
She wants to do the right thing.
I want to help her.
But leaving is my only option.
2 Days to Go.
She's being duped. Doesn't she realize that? He's just a leech.
There's no choice but to go.
1 Day to Go.
I have so little magic. Enough to go there—maybe not to come back.
But tomorrow must be the day.
I may never see her again, but I vow to save her from all of this.

We don't need to rely upon the Quote template so much as we're able to alter it to suit the page. But this works. - TonyT S C 20:11, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Indeed it works. Does look a little awkward, but it's better than sheer repetition. You know how to do this merge thing? Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 21:23, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes. I can get around to it within a few hours. - TonyT S C 22:09, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Is it possible to revise the quote template to justify the left quotation mark up and the right down? Or even to simply omit the quotation marks? They look not great with more than a few lines to a quote.KrytenKoro (talk) 23:33, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Well, you can't very well get rid of quotation marks altogether on a quote template, now, can you? But the height is a bit awkward, that much is true. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 00:28, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I mean, you totally can. That's how wikipedia does it, and it doesn't seem to look bad or anything. See Benjamin Franklin#Constitutional Convention.KrytenKoro (talk) 01:18, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia is a bunch of pretentious snobs Still, all things considered, the template itself doesn't need to be changed. Perhaps alter the breaks to be for each "χ Days to Go" entry? Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 02:19, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Looks a little better, no? Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 02:22, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I agree. Looks better that way. - Midoro (T C) 03:49, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Speak of the devil, he'll appear soon enough. Kasuto, KyrtenKoro, any arguments? If not, I believe we're ready to merge. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 05:11, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I think the citation of the quote should include the game title, but looks good.KrytenKoro (talk) 13:00, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
I don't see any reason it should. It's only going to be present on a page in which it's clear that the game is A Link Between Worlds. It's not the same as including a citation in which it's more important to include that information in the first place (also being standardized for that very purpose, whereas this quoting thing is not.
Also we'll see about the quote template. I thought it would look nicer being centered in the article (line breaks notwithstanding). I had issues where I couldn't get home to my computer last night, but I'm ready to merge it today. - TonyT S C 13:32, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Having a quote centered on a page does sound like it would look a little better. Alright, there's no objections. Take it away, Kasuto! Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 19:51, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I more meant that if it's going to be on Ravio's page, that page sources to both Nintendo Directs and the game itself, and the citations to the game specify the game. I guess it is fairly clear despite that, I just wanted to ensure it.KrytenKoro (talk) 20:22, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
The pages have been merged. - TonyT S C 04:02, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
