Talk:Great Fairy

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Twilight Princess part of this article needs to be edited. It states that there are several great fairies and that the individuals release fairies. There is only one Great Fairy in TP and she is the queen of all fairies.

Hidden Cutscene

Ok, it sounds like rubbish to me, reminds me of all of those crazy things people came up with while trying to find the Triforce in OoT. FACT? tagged today, and deleted if Mel or Zien find nothing by hacking/glitching through it. Axiomist (talk) 05:27, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Is this referring to the cut scenes (*rimshot*) from Majora's Mask? - Mugen Kagemaru 02:56, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

Zora Cape

I was wrong about the area name coming up when the enter that part of the beach, but there's still no proof that Zora Cape is just the little area off of Zora Hall. First of all, a cape is like a peninsula, while that little area is simply a bit of rock connected to a shell, jutting out of the ocean. Second, all the Owl Statues are named by the area they are found it, not on a tiny geographical feature. If Zora Cape wasn't the name of the area, it'd probably be named Zora Hall on the warp point. - Pokemega32 14:38, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree with Pokemega. I think Zora Cape is that entire area. I mean think of it this way. Once you warp to the owl statue that's the area your located in at least until you experience a wash out effect and it loads a new screen. Since you can warp to the owl and go to the fairy without experiencin this I'd have to say it's in the same area. Saying it's not would be like saying that since the fairy by Woodfall is 30 feet away from the statue it's located in the Swamp not Woodfall. Archon 15:26, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I just went inside the Zora Hall then back out to that area that you guys call Zora Cape and the name comes up as Great Bay Coast. If it were named Zora Cape, it would say Zora Cape instead of Great Bay Coast. I don't know what more proof there needs to be to show that the area is called Great Bay Coast and not Zora Cape. Dany36 16:40, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
I was just looking at it from a logical perspective but if you have proof then that beats logic. Sorry for the trouble. Oh and out of curiosity does it say anything when you leave the fairy fountain? I'd check myself but I'm not at home right now. Archon 17:15, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, it still says Great Bay Coast. And hey, no trouble at all. This is why talk pages exist, so that things like this can be discussed in order to have the most correct, complete version of articles. ;) Dany36 17:21, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Majora's Mask Great Fairies

This is something I noticed the other day when I was going through and getting screen shots of the Great Fairies. When you first return the Stray Fairies to the Great Fairy found by the Snowhead Temple, she tells you she's the Great Fairy of Wisdom and then she doubles your magic meter. But when you go visit her after receiving the upgrade and returning to the first day, and of course getting all the Stray Fairies, she tells you that she's the Great Fairy of Courage. Likewise the Great Fairy found near the Great Bay Coast first tells you she's the Great Fairy of Courage and then the Great Fairy of Wisdom after receiving the enhanced defense. Obviously we want to keep this as accurate as possible. Which do we use? Courage at Snowhead and Wisdom at Great Bay Coast? or Vice Versa? Oniriku 13:47, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Yess, this is strange. If we switch them, rewards they give will be the same as their respective OoT counterparts, but the colors won't match anymore that of Courage and Wisdom. I don't know which version is correct. It should be mentioned on the article (or at least on Trivia). Jeangabin 20:26, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
I think that the colors should match with Wisdom and Courage. Otherwise I probably would have gone through and changed them by now. I agree that something should be mentioned at least, but I would like to hear what other people have to say. Oniriku 23:24, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Appearantly, according to the Japanese and European versions, the Great Fairy at Snowhead (green) is the Great Fairy of Wisdom and the Great Fairy of Great Bay (blue) is the Great Fairy of Courage. I also thought about that: if one doesn't gather the Stray Fairies a second time, he would never know that their names will be switched (so, maybe we shouldn't make the colors match to Courage and Wisdom). Jeangabin 10:10, 8 August 2010 (EDT)

I will go through and get screen shots of the Great Fairies from the first visit. It'll probably take me a few days to do so. Oniriku 5:24, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The coloration has only been (mostly) constant in the 3D games, for example in ALttP the Pendant of Wisdom is red while the Pendant of Power is blue. Courage is the usual green. So this isn't the only time things have been a little different than normal. (Though OoT was the one changing the colors in the first place). PureLocke(User/Talk) 04:47, 15 August 2010 (EDT)

That's what I thought. Snakeboss14 22:11, 17 August 2010 (EDT)

I uploaded new screenshots of the Great Fairies from the first visit. Now we can choose which version we would like to use. I have it set right now so the first visit screenshots are the ones used. Oniriku 21:33, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

I also changed the table so it matched the screenshots. Something I just realized I did, when I updated the screenshots, I matched the color of the Great Fairy and not its name. So the Great Fairy of Wisdom is under the file name for the Great Fairy of Courage and vice versa. The screenshots are in the right places in the table. If they need to be changed I can do that. Oniriku 03:25, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Merging sections

The problem is that there is now 16 Zelda games, and this article begins to become over-sized. If we want to prevent having 20 sections, we should merge some. Great Fairies in OoT and MM have the same model, and same names; merging those sections helps to see the Great Fairies' characteristics per name. Great fairies in LA and OoX are exactly the same; the OoA section isn't that big and is half about Stary Fairies (which never reunite into a Great Fairy in this game) and the Fairy Queen. Jeangabin 21:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

We have bigger articles in this wiki. Besides, they're all Great Fairies. Maybe for Fairy Queen. Snakeboss14 20:17, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
I understand where you are coming from, but there are some weapon articles longer than this! It's not a matter of muffin-topping, its a matter of focusing the content in the best way possible. I feel that merging the sections in an article this complex would only lead to confusion; thus, I belive that we should just leave it as is. Look at me, defending an article organized "by-game"! I usually hate that and think it's the laziest way to organize an article. That's my two cents, but I'll concede if others agree with you, J. ;) — ciprianotalk 21:42, 29 August 2010 (EDT)

Majora's Mask

OK, if we have photos of all the Majora's Mask fayries, How can the names be wrong? I'm on it.SilverArcher 17:08, 4 March 2011 (EST)

Missing Great Fairy...?

OK, I can distinctly recall seeing a Great Fairy that looked something like this [1] (no official photo available to my memory, so I'm using this one because it was on one of the affiliates' updates today) on this page in the past, but I can seem to find it here, or on any other Fairy pages. Anyone got any idea what gives? Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 01:10, 16 April 2011 (EDT)

That's the Fairy Queen.Matt (Talk) 06:54, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

You know what? I knew I was missing something. Lord of the Stalfos Creatures - Stalfos Meeting Chamber 11:29, 16 April 2011 (EDT)

Does anyone have any information on the backstory of the great fairy? I don't mean appearances, I mean information on her story like where she came from and how she got her power or anything like that. PianoMastR64 11:29, 13 July 2012 (EDT)

Unless there's something about it in Hyrule Historia, the Great Fairy's background has never been explained. I'm sure fans have come up with tons of theories, though.

ok thanks. I'm sure no one can wait until it's finally translated. Is there a place on this website or on another dedicated to fanmade theories?PianoMastR64 02:06, 21 July 2012 (EDT)
Not that I'm aware of. Most theories seem to originate on forums, so I would encourage you to check out our Masterminds' forums. Or those of any Zelda fan site, of course.

A small typo

In "The Wind Waker" section it says : "Pink Great Fairy (with blue/green below): always gives a Wallet upgrades" - the last 's' of this sentence has to be removed, to be just as the similar following sentences (and grammatically correct).Gomess 512 (talk) 00:34, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Do it yourself! This wiki allows for all users to make edits, and one as minor as this requires no group consensus. Feel free to correct any spelling mistakes you find. Champion of Nayru (talk) 01:36, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
Actually, I noticed several other things that need to be changed, so I'll just do it myself. Champion of Nayru (talk) 01:39, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
When English is not your mother language, you always have a small doubt about your grammatical knowledge. Plus some of us do not know that we are permitted to edit the main section ("Page"). And some of us are "kind" enough to reply as "Do it yourself!" to people who enjoy reading the texts and care about their quality (grammar included). Neat!Gomess 512 (talk) 23:05, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Apologies if my previous message seemed rude. I intended for it to sound exited, not annoyed. Feel free in the future to just make changes like that when you see them; no need to ask for permission or for others to make the edit. Even if you edit is incorrect, at least it will be brought to the community's attention, as edits are reviewed to ensure standards and civility. (Please note that I am not an admin, so if you have any further questions, ask one of them). Champion of Nayru (talk) 02:31, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Apologies from me too if I was bitter. Please keep in mind that while English is a wide spread language the way of speaking is not shared between cultures. Sometimes casual (not formal) ways of expression are all right in USA or Canada, but in Europe sound a little bit rude. On the other hand, too much formal talking that residents of Europe like to do, gets to be annoying for residents of North America. I'd like to suggest "peace", but peace is boring.Gomess 512 (talk) 03:06, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Four Swords to The Minish Cap

Don't the three Great Fairies in The Minish Cap use the same sprites as in Four Swords?

If so, is it necessary to have their sprites a second time in the Gallery?

No Image Available For Infobox

The image in the infobox shows a placeholder image that says "No Image Available" as the default image which doesn't make sense. Is there a way to make it show a different default image? Tag2902 (talk) 00:00, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

We will likely be switching that image out for a more specific one, but that image is intentional and is displayed so that people can upload the proper file in its place. You'll notice if you click on the image, it will direct you to where the missing image should be uploaded. TriforceTony (talk) 00:07, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
