Talk:Deku Butler's Son

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

In the german version of ocarina of time the dialoge is changed, when doing the trading sequence sidequest:

The kokiri girl Fado explains to Link, that Grog turned into a plant(instead into a Stalfos). "Everyone is doomed to become a plant in the lost woods".*

So a possible second suggestion to why the deku-butler's sun turned into a tree, could be this:

Maybe because he entered accidentely the entrence to the lost woods portal in Termina, the Deku-child was transformed into a plant/tree.

It would be intresting to know, if the dialoge is changed in other languages as well!

Interesting bit of trivia! As far as I can tell, the German version is the only version to say this—the Japanese and French versions say "Stalfos" and "monster", respectively. As an encyclopedia, though, we want to avoid speculation as much as possible. When we do, it's more to list widely spoken-of theories than to make our own. So, although your theory is quite intriguing, I don't think it's one we can mention on this page. However, this definitely deserves a mention on the Lost Woods page. I went ahead and added a trivia section.

How on Earth is a random change done by the German translators relevant? Unless it was mentioned in the Japanese version, it isn't canon. - Dere 12:05, 19 January 2012 (EST)
