Shae Mo'sah Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name Swinging Flames, is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine

The Shae Mo'sah Shrine is located on a cliff in the northern part of Goron City in the Eldin Canyon, along the path to the Abandoned North Mine. The Ancient Shrine can be reached by taking the upward path from the Boss's House. As Link enters the Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Shae Mo'sah.[2]

Themes and Navigation

The Shae Mo'sah Shrine consists of a number of connected rooms. The first room has a barred entrance to the next chamber, which is operated by a nearby Floor Switch that must be kept pressed to open it. Directly above this room is a suspended lamp in an opening of the ceiling, which can be dropped by snapping its cable and thus burn the vines beneath it. Burning the vines will also destroy a wooden platform holding a stone Barrel, which can be used to press down the Floor Switch.

The second room is opens to a much larger chamber that is inhabited by two Guardian Scouts I and one Guardian Scout II. Past the Guardian Scouts, a ramp leads to the third chamber. Within is another Floor Switch, which lowers a lamp on a chain when activated. This lamp can be knocked back by shooting it with an Arrow or using the Magnesis Rune, which will set the wall's vines aflame, releasing a small Iron Ball.

Around the room's corner is another Floor Switch. When it is activated, it will open a barred door, allowing the Iron Ball to slip through and roll a wheel. Doing this will open another door to the next room. In this next room is another ramp leading back to beginning of the third chamber and a Treasure Chest containing a Small Key.

The Small Key opens a door to the left of the first ramp. In the fourth chamber, there is another Floor Switch that lies on a raised platform, and pressing it will lower two lamps. Link must swing one of these lamps using Magnesis and then cut its cable to light the vines underneath. This drops another stone Barrel from a wooden platform. Link can use this Barrel to press down the second Floor Switch, opening the portcullis at the back of the chamber. Link can also use Stasis on the Floor Switch while he is standing on it, which keeps the portcullis open long enough for him to pass through.

The final chamber of Shae Mo'sah Shrine contains the Monk's Pedestal bearing Shae Mo'sah. When spoken to, the Monk will give Link a Spirit Orb for completing the Trial.[3] Shae Mo'sah then wishes Link well and fades away.[4]

A Treasure Chest can be found to the left when Link enters the second room. When it is opened, Link will obtain a Stone Smasher. Another Chest can be found past the Guardian Scouts, and it contains a Ruby. Finally, a Treasure Chest can be found in the third chamber, below the chute that deposits the lamp. Inside, Link will find 10 Ice Arrows.
