The Sasa Kai Shrine,[1] designated by the Trial name A Modest Test of Strength,[1] is an Ancient Shrine in Breath of the Wild.

Entrance to the Shrine[]

Sasa Kai Shrine is located in the Gerudo Highlands, directly next to Gerudo Tower. It is originally buried beneath the ground, with a pedestal nearby.

On top of Gerudo Tower, Link can find Kass, who reveals he knows of an "Ancient Song" from the area.[2] When asked, he will sing the song for Link, which describes shooting an Arrow into the sky from the shadow of Gerudo Tower.[3] This initiates the "Sign of the Shadow" Shrine Quest.

At three in the afternoon, when the sun casts Gerudo Tower's shadow onto the nearby Pedestal, Link must shoot at the sun with an Arrow. Doing so will cause the Ancient Shrine to reveal itself.[4] This completes the Shrine Quest.

As Link enters Sasa Kai Shrine, he is greeted by its Monk, Sasa Kai.[5]

Themes and Navigation[]

Sasa Kai Shrine features a large primary chamber, in which a Guardian Scout III rises from a pit once Link gets near. In order to complete the Trial, Link must defeat this Guardian Scout.

Once the Guardian Scout III is defeated, a portcullis leading to the Monk's Pedestal will rise, allowing Link to pass through. Sasa Kai will commend Link for completing the Trial, giving him a Spirit Orb as a reward.[6] The Monk will then wish Link well before fading away.[7]

The Treasure Chest behind the portcullis contains a Frostblade.
