Misko is a recurring unseen character in the Legend of Zelda series of games, debuting in Breath of the Wild.[1] Misko, also known as the Great Bandit Misko, was an infamous pirate and fashion connoisseur who had amassed a vast collection of clothing and armor pieces that they had hid all across Hyrule, leaving riddles for people to solve and find said treasures.[1][2]

Biography[]

Breath of the Wild[]

Misko is a bandit who has left their treasure hidden across Hyrule Kingdom. Link never meets or sees Misko, and they can only be learned about through their treasure. When Link tries to talk to Prissen and Domidak at the Dueling Peaks Stable, they will be discussing a lead on Misko's treasure,[3] before stopping when they notice Link is listening to them.[4] If Link persists on discussing the treasure, Domidak will confirm they are looking for Misko's treasure, but he will not tell Link about the lead for free.[5] If Link pays 100 Rupees that Domidak asks for, he will share a riddle that describes a "little twin" stepping over a "little river."[6] Domidak explains that Misko hid the location of the treasure using a riddle, and he mentions that the person he had heard the riddle from can eventually be linked to an underling of Misko.[7] Learning the riddle begins the "Misko, the Great Bandit" Side Quest.

If The Master Trials DLC Pack is installed, Misko's EX Journal will appear in the Outpost Ruins. The Book was written by Misko to note down the locations of eight Treasure Chests containing priceless relics that they stole from Hyrule Castle.[8] Obtaining the stolen relics is the goal of four Side Quests: "EX Treasure: Ancient Mask," "EX Treasure: Fairy Clothes," "EX Treasure: Twilight Relic," and "EX Treasure: Phantasma."

If The Champions' Ballad DLC Pack is installed, Misko's EX Journal 2 will appear in the Deya Village Ruins. In this Book, Misko wrote down clues to where they had hidden six more Treasure Chests containing priceless relics that they had stolen from Hyrule Castle.[9] Retrieving the relics that Misko stole is the goal of four Side Quests: "EX Treasure: Merchant Hood," "EX Treasure: Garb of Winds," "EX Treasure: Usurper King," and "EX Treasure: Dark Armor."

Tears of the Kingdom[]

Like the previous game, Misko was a bandit who stole rare clothes in the name of fashion. They spent a lifetime collecting such rare clothes and hid them in Caves all across Hyrule.[10][11][12] Misko's appearance remains unknown and Link never meets them. They are often mentioned by travelers on the main road, often giving hints to any of Misko's treasure located nearby. Misko's treasure are often found inside caves, marked with poles covered with ragged pieces of cloth and adorned on top with a brass hollowed triangle.

During Misko's Cave of Chests, Link finds a message-in-a-bottle inside a chest. It was written by Misko and it reads that Misko not only hidden rare clothes, but another unique treasure—the Fierce Deity Sword.[13] The sword is hidden in the place Link is present at and needs the full set of the Fierce Deity Set in order to claim it.[14]
