Template:Future game Template:Character Linkle is a playable Warrior in Hyrule Warriors Legends. She can be transferred over to Hyrule Warriors as well. Linkle is a cheerful, athletic young woman, who aspires to be like the heroes of Hyrule, and travels across the land to help those in need.[1] She wields dual Crossbows as her weapon and uses them alongside quick kicks to attack enemies.[2]

Biography

Linkle is a young girl who hails from a small village filled with Cuccos.[3] She keeps with her a Compass that has been passed down to her since ancient times. She travels to Hyrule Castle with this Compass. Her story is described as a side story separate from the rest of the game's plot.[1]

Development

During the development of Hyrule Warriors, Linkle was originally designed as a female version of Link and was to be like a little sister to him, but the idea was later scrapped. Sketches of her were included in the Hyrule Warriors art book included in the Japanese limited editions of the game.[4] The character grew in popularity shortly afterwards, and became one of the more widely requested characters during Koei Tecmo's open call for new playable characters in the game's official Twitter.[5] She was later announced for Hyrule Warriors Legends during the Nintendo Direct web stream on November 12, 2015, where she was revealed with a slightly different design and two Crossbows, as opposed to the one shown in her early concept sketches.[2]

Former Nintendo character writer Chris Pranger wrote on his Twitter that Linkle was the last character he wrote for before leaving Nintendo, and has said that she is his favorite Nintendo character to have written for.[6]

Trivia

  • Prior to her announcement, her Crossbow was hidden among the game's artwork, hinting at her inclusion.
  • Her Compass is available as a clock in the Japanese and European limited editions of Hyrule Warriors Legends.
  • Her concept art is similar to Link's artwork in Link's Crossbow Training.
    • Like Link in Link's Crossbow Training, Linkle's crossbows glow when certain moves are performed, glowing red when charging a Bomb Arrow and glowing green when rapid-firing.
