The Letter to Kafei is an item in Majora's Mask.[1][note 1] It is given to Link by Anju. It is essential in the Reuniting Kafei and Anju sidequest.

Location and Uses[]

After showing Kafei's Mask to Anju, she asks Link to meet her in the kitchen at the Stock Pot Inn at night.[3] There, she tells Link about Kafei's disappearance and gives him the Letter to Kafei, asking him to deliver it for her.[4][5] To do so, Link must deposit it in any of the Postboxes throughout Clock Town, where the Postman will pick it up. Link can enter the back room of the Curiosity Shop in the Laundry Pool once the Postman delivers it to Kafei, who will run out to receive it, leaving the door unlocked. If Link speaks to Kafei after the Letter has been delivered, he agrees to trust the hero and tells him of his cause for disappearance.[6][7][8] Afterward, he will give Link the Pendant of Memories to pass on to Anju.[9]

The Letter can be posted on any of the three days. If the Letter is posted on the Second Day, the Postman will pick up the Letter on the Final Day as normal and go to the Laundry Pool to deliver it, but Kafei will not appear when he rings the bell.[10] This happens regardless of whether Kafei has seen Sakon at the Curiosity Shop the night before or not.

The Letter to Kafei is one of the items used in the Reuniting Kafei and Anju sidequest that can be done to receive the Couple's Mask, the Keaton Mask, the Postman's Hat, two Pieces of Heart, and a Bottle with Chateau Romani. The Letter can also be given to ??? in the Stock Pot Inn when he asks for paper, thus earning Link a Piece of Heart.
