Kayo is a character in Phantom Hourglass.[2]

Biography

Kayo was once the assistant of Astrid, the Fortune-Teller at the Isle of Ember. He was the only one who knew how to open Astrid's back room in her basement. Upon finding the remains of Kayo on the easternmost point of the island, his ghost appears and informs Link how to open the room. After freeing Astrid, Kayo asks Link to continue to look after her.[3] When Link leaves the island, Kayo's bones are buried and a tombstone is erected in their place.[by whom?]

His spirit stays on the island, however, and helps Link find two Treasure Maps.[4][5]

The exact cause of Kayo's death is unknown, though Astrid implies that the Ghost Ship was responsible.[6] He seems to take his own death lightly; he is only concerned for Astrid's well-being.[7]
