Jiahto is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.[2]

Biography[]

Jiahto is a Zora historian who studies and preserves the history of Zora's Domain.[3] He spends his days in the Sleeping Chamber examining the Stone Monument at its rear.

If Link approaches Jiahto before calming Divine Beast Vah Ruta, he will find him lost in thought.[4] When Link asks him what is wrong, Jiahto will initially believe him to a be a traveler.[5] He explains that the Stone Monument contains the history of the Zora as told by King Dorephan, which he is rereading so he can record it in a Book.[6]

When Link expresses that Jiahto's plan sounds difficult, Jiahto will finally recognize him.[7] He blames Link for stealing Mipha from the Zora.[8] He proclaims that he will never be able forgive Link.[9] No matter how Link responds, Jiahto accuses him of not understanding what he has done.[10] He explains that not only did the the Hylians fail to stop Calamity Ganon, they also caused Mipha's death.[11] Due to this, he refuses to forgive the Hylians for what happened.[12]

Despite his prior statement, after Divine Beast Vah Ruta has been calmed, Jiahto will admit to Link that he misjudged him.[13] Now that he can see the Divine Beast aiming at Hyrule Castle, he is confident that Mipha will still be able to assist in defeating Calamity Ganon.[14]

Jiahto apologizes for not properly introducing himself earlier,[15] and he describes his role as a historian to Link.[3] However, he is concerned by the condition of the History of the Zora, Part Seven, as it has become deteriorated over time.[16] He is worried that the rest of the Stone Monuments are in a similar condition.[17] Jiahto reiterates his desire to transcribe their contents into a Book.[18]

Due to Jiahto's age, though, traveling to all 10 Stone Monuments will take some time for him.[19] Therefore, he asks Link if he could find the 10 Monuments and relay their contents to him.[20] If Link agrees, Jiahto is relieved that the Champion will be assisting him.[21] He informs Link that one of the Stone Monuments details the location of a treasure, which he tells Link to keep should he find it.[22] Jiahto expresses his belief in Link,[23] after which the "Zora Stone Monuments" Side Quest will begin.

During the Side Quest, Link can speak to Jiahto to have him share the location of one of the Stone Monuments that he has not read yet.[24] If Link does so, Jiahto will randomly select one of the Monuments to share the location of.[25]

Once Link has read all 10 Stone Monuments, he can return to the Sleeping Chamber to inform Jiahto of what he has learned.[26] After hearing the contents, Jiahto remarks that many of the details of the Zora have been recorded, and thanks to Link, he has been able to gather all of that information.[27] He thanks Link for helping him and reqards him with a Diamond.[28] After this, the Side Quest will be completed.

When Link speaks to Jiahto again, he will express his gratitude for reading all of the Stone Monuments.[29] He feels responsible to ensure that King Dorephan's words are passed on for future generations.[30] In addition, he promises to include a description of all Link did in his future Book, as well.[31]
