Detecting objects with the Sheikah Sensor +

The Hyrule Compendium is a Sheikah Slate function in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Location and Uses

When Link obtains the Sheikah Slate, some of its data, including the Hyrule Compendium, is damaged. In order to repair it, he must progress through the "Slated for Upgrades" Side Quest at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

The Hyrule Compendium compiles pictures and information of every Creature, Enemy, Material, Weapon, Shield, Bow, and treasure.[2] In order to register an entry, Link must take a picture of the subject with the Camera Rune. Alternatively, once the "Sunshroom Sensing" Side Quest is completed, Link can purchase any missing picture from Symin for 100 Rupees each. Once Calamity Ganon is defeated, pictures of elite enemies and bosses can be bought for 500 Rupees each. Entries saved in the Hyrule Compendium can be detected using the Sheikah Sensor +.[3]

Once Link completes the Hyrule Compendium, he can obtain the Classified Envelope from Symin.[4] Equipment and Enemies exclusive to the Expansion Pass DLC are included in the Hyrule Compendium, but some are only available in Master Mode. Due to these extra equipment and Enemies entries, some entries may have altered number listings from the base game dependent upon whether or not the Expansion Pass DLC has been purchased and these numbers could be further different depending upon whether or not the game is being played in Master Mode. All number listings for entries are noted below in the following format: Normal number prior to DLC Pack 2 (after DLC Pack 2) / Master Mode number prior to DLC Pack 2 (after DLC Pack 2). Creatures and equipment exclusive to amiibo are not included in the Hyrule Compendium.

This level of dedication to research deserves a reward, but I'm not sure the lab budget has room for one... Although... If he's that passionate about pictures, maybe... Well, it will have to do. Here. I found this sandwiched in a book. I have no interest in it myself, so..." — Symin (Breath of the Wild)
