After moving this from the Main to Help namespace, I realised that we also have Help:References dealing with the same topic. I'd suggest that this page be kept, since it contains more information, and also it's been around longer therefore more stuff links to it. Adam [ talk ] 18:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

That was Ando's doing. He thought the help guides should be short and low on content. I respectfully disagree.Matt (Talk) 18:56, January 24, 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Matt. They should be simple enough, but not to quite that point. Alter  {T C B H } 05:17, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
They should probably be merged, but I think it's a job for someone higher up than me. They both are on the sidebar that is on most Help pages and I have no idea how to change that. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable/powerful can fix this up. --Ionizer 10:02, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
These should definitely be merged, it's simple logic and a way to defeat redundancy for redundancy's sake once and for all. I bet information on both pages is similar, so there should be a simple consolidation of the info from both pages. And thus, I don't see the resulting page ending up that long, for all those in fear of a drawn-out help page. I'll even help in the consolidation if need be. I have to agree. Same topic, same content, same PAGE :PJustin(Talk) 21:29, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

I say YES TO MERGE as long as this part:

Quick Guide for citing a weblink Insert the [link] after the text sourced from it Enclose the link between [1]

Add

  1. and

at the end of the article

...gets fixed. Plus, I think this one does a better job at explaining the {{subst:Ref}} and {{subst:Refbar}} usage. Dany36 21:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey, guys. Not sure where to post this, but can we make it when citing Soul Calibur II, it links to the game's page like all the other games do? Not sure how to do that exactly, but I figured someone who did would see this. ZENOX T C 09:46, 21 November 2010 (EST)

Other language references[]

Is there any standard way of citing things in other languages (which would be Japanese in virtually all cases)? It would be more convenient if there was a way to both include the original text and a translation in the citation. This would be useful for citing the Japanese manuals and games (since some things are lost in localization), as well as things like Hyrule Historia (which is going to be released in English soon, but that's not the point). --SnorlaxMonster 10:24, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Template:Exp is usually what gets used in those situations (see the reference here for an example). It's not excellent, but it does the job. — Hylian King [*] 12:49, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Should this be added to the page? --SnorlaxMonster 12:14, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
Went ahead and did that, and added info on our new nifty cite buttons while I was at it. Hope it's to everyone's liking. — Hylian King [*] 12:58, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
