Increasing speed and strength of Magic Hammer

Hammerwear is an item in Tri Force Heroes.[1]

Location and Uses

Hammerwear is an Outfit that can be crafted at Madame Couture's after Link completes the Forest Temple. It dresses Link in a turtle shell, helmet and shoes identical to those of a Hammer Bro from the Super Mario series. Wearing Hammerwear increases the size, swinging speed, and power of the Magic Hammer,[2] as well as the radius of the shockwave created when it strikes the ground.

Hammerwear's Japanese name would be more accurately written as ハンマーの甲羅 (Hanmā no Kōra). The use of katakana may be a play on words referring to the Koopa Troopa, known as ノコノコ (Nokonoko) in Japan. Hammerwear's French name also makes a similar play on words.

  • When Link dons Hammerwear inside Madame Couture's, the Stylish Woman will reference the origin of the Outfit's design by asking if Link bought it using a "koopon", spelled similarly to "Koopa".[3]
  • Another possible reference to Hammer Bros is found in Hammerwear's description in the Catalog presented by Madame Couture's Apprentice, in which the Apprentice recalls his "bro" owning the Outfit.[4]
  • The description for Hammerwear in Madame Couture's shop contains the phrase "Time to hammer!".[5] This may be a reference to the phrase "Hammer time", popularized by hip hop artist MC Hammer.
  • although the hammerwear is based on the hammer bros. from the super mario series the hammer link uses when wearing the hammerwear more closely resembles the hammer another super mario series enemy uses sledge bros.
