Gold Cuccos, alternatively named Golden Cuccos, are a recurring species in The Legend of Zelda series. They first appear in The Minish Cap.

Characteristics[]

Gold Cuccos are variants of Cuccos made entirely of gold. In all of their appearances, Gold Cuccos are more agile and than their regular counterparts, and are frequently shown to be stronger as well.

Mainline appearances[]

The Minish Cap[]

There are Gold Cuccos that appear only in a minigame hosted by Anju, along with small yellow Cucco Chicks in The Minish Cap. The Gold Cuccos move a lot faster than regular Cuccos and therefore escape Link's grasp a lot more often. Like their regular counterparts, the object is for Link to throw Gold Cuccos into Anju's pen before time runs out.

Twilight Princess[]

TPHD Golden Cucco Model

In Twilight Princess, Rusl owns a Golden Cucco. At one point, after Link obtains the second piece of the Mirror of Twilight, Rusl loans Link his Golden Cucco so that Link can fly across a large gorge and reach the Sacred Grove, where the Temple of Time is. Unlike other Cuccos, the Golden Cucco can neither be controlled nor damaged by Link. The Golden Cucco can glide much wider distances and at a lot faster speed. Once Link has made it to the Sacred Grove Deep Gorge, the Golden Cucco returns to its original spawn area., where it remains for the rest of Link's adventure.

If Wolf Link speaks to Gold Cucco, the latter will sing a play on the "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" nursery rhyme.[1]

Spinoff appearances[]

Hyrule Warriors[]

In Hyrule Warriors, a Gold Cucco, which serves as an enemy general, may usually be summoned among the third wave of Cuccos if the player's Warrior had attacked them earlier.

In some Adventure Mode battles, instead of a normal Cucco spawning, a Gold Cucco appears from the start, visiting Keeps and looking for food in them to power itself up. The player's Warrior will be tasked to stop the Gold Cucco before reaching full power.
