Biography[]
Mezer is a Hylian Merchant. He works as a wandering butcher, selling meat during his journey.[3][4] He travels between Dueling Peaks Stable and the abandoned Monster Stronghold to the west, passing along the Squabble River and through the Dueling Peaks on his way. Mezer carries an Emblazoned Shield and a Traveler's Sword.
Due to the meat he carries with him, Mezer smells like Raw Meat.[5] When Link speaks to Mezer, he will often notice that he appears to be hungry.[6][7] He will then offer his wares to Link, stating that it can rectify his problems.[8][9][10] He also gives Link advice about Cooking with meat, such as grilling it with the Rock Salt that he sells.[11][12][13][14] This recipe will result in Salt-Grilled Meat, Salt-Grilled Prime Meat, and Salt-Grilled Gourmet Meat.
Mezer may also notice that Link wants to speak to someone.[15] While he is willing to talk with him, Mezer warns Link that he only talks about meat.[16] He then asks Link if he is interested in buying.[17][18] In addition to this, if he believes that Link appears to be lost, he offers directions to Dueling Peaks Stable and Kakariko Village.[19][20] Mezer himself typically frequents Stables.[21] Finally, if Link appears to be tired, Mezer tells him to go to Dueling Peaks Stable, but he offers to sell him meat if he does not have the strength to make it there.[22][23]
While Mezer is resting at the abandoned Monster Stronghold, he will feel as though he is being judged by Link.[24] He claims that he finds being alone in the wilderness peaceful, even if it can be considered a wasteland.[25] He then states that if Link has time to judge him, then he has time to buy meat from him as well, and doing so would cheer him up.[26][27] This continues at Dueling Peaks Stable, where he does not appreciate Link judging where he is sleeping for the night.[28] In reality, Mezer would like to sleep in a Bed, but he does not make enough selling meat to afford one.[29]
If Mezer is attacked by Enemies while he travels, he will draw his Traveler's Sword to defend himself.[30][31][32] During his fight, Mezer claims that one needs to be tough to fight Monsters, and he attempts to ward off his attackers.[33][34] After the Enemies have been defeated, he will try to calm himself down.[35][36][37] When Link saves him, he will be relieved that both he and his wares are safe, and he may comment that his meats likely attracted the Monsters.[38][39][40] As a reward, Mezer gives Link Food and Rupees.[41]
When it Rains, Mezer will take note.[42] He will take refuge under the cliffs of the southern Dueling Peak.[43] Despite this, he is still determined to keep selling meat.[44] During Rain, Mezer will add Raw Gourmet Meat to his list of wares.[45]
As Mezer travels, he will advertise his wares to passerby.[46][47][48][49] He claims to sell the best meats, offering his customers their Rupees back if they are dissatisfied.[50] If Link agrees to browse his wares, Mezer will promote his Raw Prime Meat and Raw Bird Thigh.[51] When Link makes a purchase, Mezer will thank him and encourage him to return.[52][53] He may also repeat his motto, which is "If you want meat, you want Mezer!"[54] When Link stops buying, Mezer asks if he wants anything else, since it would be a waste if his meat went bad.[55] If Link buys all of his stock, Mezer informs him that he has nothing left to sell.[56] However, he still allows Link to view the meats he will have when he restocks.[57]
Like other Merchants, Link can sell his own Items to Mezer.[58][59][60][61] When Mezer makes a purchase, he will thank Link and ask if there is anything else he needs.[62][63][64] When their business is concluded, Mezer thanks Link and wishes him well.[65]
