Not to be confused with Fado (The Wind Waker) or Fado (Twilight Princess)

Fado is a character in Ocarina of Time.[1]

Biography[]

Fado is a blonde Kokiri girl who lives in Kokiri Forest. She seems to have a fascination with the Lost Woods and a bond of sorts with Mido.[citation needed]

When Link is a child, he can find Fado standing atop a lookout post, accessed by bridges leading from the roof of Saria's House. Here, she teaches Link how to look around in the first-person view,[2] and warns him about the Lost Woods' dangers.[3]

If Link returns to Kokiri Forest as an adult, Fado will no longer be found in her home village, instead being encountered in the Lost Woods during the Trading Quest to obtain Biggoron's Sword. When Link brings the Odd Poultice for the Master Craftsman's Son, Fado appears instead, demanding that Link give the medicine to her since it was made of forest Mushrooms.[4] In return, she gives Link the Poacher's Saw that the Master Craftsman's Son left behind. She wonders aloud about the young man's fate, mentioning that any non-Kokiri that enter the Lost Woods wind up turning into Stalfos.[5][6] Following this interaction, Fado is never seen again.

Fado's pre-release appearance

  • In early screenshots of Ocarina of Time, Fado was shown with a different appearance and seems to be sitting on the Kokiri Shop's awning. In the final game, a common Kokiri girl occupies this spot.
  • Based on investigation into early versions of Ocarina of Time, it is speculated that Fado was planned to be one of the Sages, possibly related to a wind-based temple that was eventually replaced with the Forest Temple. This theory is further supported by a Kokiri character of the same name later appearing as a Sage in The Wind Waker.
  • In the original version of Ocarina of Time, Fado has blue eyes similar to other female Kokiri. In Ocarina of Time 3D, however, she has a unique eye color: the upper halves of her irises are a Bluebonnet, while the lower halves are a light indigo.

Nomenclature[]

Fado, along with Mido, were named after the solfège syllables in the music scale.
