Face Lamps are recurring traps in The Legend of Zelda series.[1]

Characteristics

Face Lamps are Torches that launch fireballs at intruders, similar to Stone Statues. They are named for the faces on the lamps that appear in Link's Awakening, though in other games they appear simply as regular torches. Their behavior is unusual in that unlike Stone Statues, they will not usually start firing fireballs at intruders immediately. Instead, they usually react to enemies appearing, or in some cases, being defeated. Usually the only means to stop the onslaught of fireballs is to defeat the enemies in the room, though sometimes Link will be forced to flee.
