Dexivines are plant-like enemies in The Wind Waker.[1]

Characteristics[]

Dexivines are small, purplish tentacles that often hide in grass and will emerge from the ground when Link approaches, attempting to grab onto him and drain his magic power. Although they are not themselves dangerous, both dungeons in which they are found see extensive use of the Deku Leaf, an item which requires magic to use, so they can be detrimental to Link's progress if they are not destroyed quickly. Fortunately, Dexivines can easily be dispatched with a swing from the sword, though they will grow back in a matter of seconds and can never truly be killed, so it is best not to linger for too long in an area infested with these troublesome vines.

The Forbidden Woods has a small area where the Dexivines spawn, and the Wind Temple also has a number of deep canyons where Dexivines lie in wait for Link to miscalculate a jump amongst the platforms high above. They tend to live hidden in grass.

Dexivines are not recognized by Carlov and do not have a figurine in the Nintendo Gallery.
