Defenders of the Triforce is a Zelda-themed live action role playing adventure built in collaboration with the Japanese company SCRAP.

Defenders of the Triforce creates teams of six people who collaborate to solve puzzles, collect items, and save the world. The event will be held in eight American cities and three Canadian cities beginning January 31, 2017, with dates still to be determined. The timing coincides with the release of the Nintendo Switch and Breath of the Wild on March 3, 2017. The live action adventure uses the puzzle solving aspect of The Legend of Zelda series to immerse players in the event which includes recurring items of the franchise. SCRAP boasts in its promotional materials a 10% success rate of players which complete all of the challenges.

In order to keep the event competitive, little information is available about what players will face in their trials. Participants are encouraged to take pictures but not to share spoilers online.

How to Play

The events lasts one hour. Although 100 to 240 people play simultaneously, each team of six acts on their own and does not compete with each other. An MC guides the teams through the story and the goal.[1] Each team has its own table but will need to explore the entire game space in order to find all of the clues.[2] Teams which do not escape may receive the solutions at the end of the event.[3] No prizes are given to those who complete the challenge. All players are invited to an event following the game featuring video trailers and merchandise.

No special skills are required for participants, however, all activities are conducted exclusively in English. Although movement is required, the event is designed to be accessible for those in wheelchairs, with only service animals allowed at the event.
