The VGRC chat room is an IRC room connected to the VGRC and ZeldaInformer community. It can be found on the Bored-IRC network on #vgrc.
Along with the Zelda Universe chat (whom #vgrc folk are often intermingled with) the VGRC/ZeldaInformer chat room is one of the largest Zelda-related chat rooms on the internet.
History[]
The VGRC chat room was initially founded in late 2004 on the TAUniverse IRC network. Since then, the only change has been the renaming of the server from TA-IRC to Gnug-IRC, but otherwise it's been there since its birth.
Early on in #vgrc's history, there was another channel on TA-IRC by the name of #0, run by PyroMyrmidon. Since Pyro was essentially second in command in #vgrc, and the Captain second in #0, the two decided to merge #0 into #vgrc in order to strengthen the size of their fighting force and became one of the larger channels on Gnug-IRC.
When Gnug-IRC was shut down in 2009, the room migrated over to Bored-IRC, where it resides today.
Connecting[]
If you'd like to connect, google for an IRC client. And yes, for the mac/linuxtards, there are clients for almost every OS. Hell, if you have 'telnet' you can connect.
Once you'd downloaded your IRC client, follow these steps:
1) In the main window, click in the text box. Type "/server irc.zangaroa.com" (without the quotes.)
2) If you haven't chosen a nickname/other details, type "/nick yournick", without the quotes. yournick would be the nickname you want.
3) You'll get a flood of text. Sometimes, you may get a prompt showing channels. Type "#vgrc". If not, type "/join #vgrc".
4) Voila!
Alternatively, you can use VGRC's webchat applet (located here)
