Template:Enemy Aneru are enemies in The Adventure of Link.[1] Its appearance is somewhat similar to that of a Rope, but its behavior is quite different.
Characteristics
Aneru is a seemingly eyeless snake or worm-like monster with a huge mouth that appears solely in Palaces, first appearing in Midoro Palace. They sit in place and jump while spitting rocks, similar in behavior to Octoroks in the same game, though like Octoroks, some will also move while attacking. Later in the game in the Great Palace, a red variety appears that spits fireballs that Link's shield cannot defend against. Link must use the Reflect magic to defend against these shots. These red Aneru will not move, unlike the blue variety.
Trivia
- Octoroks do not appear in the Palaces, while Aneru appear solely within them. However, in the Famicom Disk System version of the game, blue Octoroks appeared in Midoro Palace and the Palace on the Sea: blue Aneru replace these enemies in the NES version of the game. Red Aneru are in both versions of the game.
- Aneru have some resemblance to Piranha Plants.
Nomenclature
"Ān" is a Japanese onomatopoeia meaning to open one's mouth wide.
