Hard Mode is a mode in Breath of the Wild included in the Expansion Pass DLC Pack 1.

Overview

In Hard Mode, all enemies are powered up by one level, regain health over time, and detect Link's approach easier. New, stronger versions of enemies are also introduced while removing weaker variations such as red Bokoblins. Enemies and Treasure Chests may also appear floating in the sky on planks.[1]

You might even see new ranks of enemies that you've never seen before. You'll need to rethink your strategies too – foes will be better at detecting your approach and they'll slowly recover health in battle. While exploring in Hard Mode, be on the lookout for planks floating in the sky.
